I haven´t been checking much of the setlists they´ve had in 2024 and 2025 so far, but how many Mangini era songs has Portnoy generally included in the sets since he came back?

Just 2 so far.

1.  Announce the dates
2.  Take my money

dream setlist idea, going halfway in on the '12 step' idea. call it a compromise:

set 1: parasomnia

set 2: the glass prison / this dying soul / the root of all evil / surrounded / erotomania / voices

encore: breaking all illusions / the spirit carries on / pull me under

As a big fan of both the 12-step suite and "A Mind Beside Itself", that second set would leave me absolutely infuriated.  :lol

hahah i get it! i'm focusing on the high points rather than completionism here.

Misirlou

I'm honestly looking forward to see them play The Shadow Man Incident. They're clearly gonna have fun with that one. Good break for James too.

And Bend the Clock is the future classic of the album for me. It's gonna be a hit live.

That exact 2nd set would NEVER happen, but it is AWESOME :metal

Gotta think they'll announce the NA dates before the European tour kicks off, right?

Being from Australia and having never had the chance to see them live, I would take pretty much any setlist they wanted to play at this point. They could do The Astonishing again in it's entirety with Raw Dog as encore and I would be there (nothing against The Astonishing, but I think it's safe to say the chances of that ever happening are zero).

That said, if I were to choose a set I think it would be pretty fairly close to this one. Maybe swap out Take the Time for Learning to Live and something else for Light Fuse, but man, this would be a pretty awesome set.

Nice! I'd be equally happy if take the time was swapped for learning to live, we'd possibly have to lose light the fuse as well because the song length difference.

I'll say this much tho, light the fuse is next level with this lineup! Much better suited for James on vocals imho.

Guess I'll be attending the first and last show again.

Reading PA should be interesting, I spend a lot of time in that area for Family but I never attended a show there.

No NJ or NYC sadly so I'm out in all likelihood. Weird not to play those.

Huh, no Canadian dates? James told us that they'd be back in the fall.  :(

Is it possible that this is just the first leg of the tour, and maybe they'll be out again early next year?

KevShmev

Hmmm, I do really like that new venue in Chesterfield, MO (a part of the STL metro area), and I already have at least one brother who is in, so I will likely go.  I was gonna take the wait and see approach with the set list, but that venue is a great selling point.

The press release states that the tour is a 30 shows run. It doesn't mention a second leg or anything else.

"The tour is scheduled for 30 cities across the United States and kicks off September 5th in Reading, PA and runs through October 25th where it wraps in Long Island, NY."

QuoteUSA! 🇺🇸 Dream Theater is back this fall with the Parasomnia tour! Playing the new album in it's entirely as well as other fan favorites...

Hopefully not PMU, AIA, Home and TSCO again.

I hope they play them all twice at every show. :P

Of the 4, I'll never figure out why AIA became a "fan favorite". It's just such a low-brow effort. Sure, it's straight-up metal for the Metallica converts but they have a lot of great mostly straight-up metal songs. Surely it's not the f-bomb that is the selling point?

dualpalmpilots

Count me among those who would be happy to see As I Am as often as they want to play it.

This is my wish list set for the upcoming tour

Set 1

Parasomnia in its entirety

Set 2

A Change of Seasons
In The Name of God

MP comes out behind the kit to announce that KevMo is going to sit in for the remainder of the set. The audience goes wild

Wait for Sleep -> Learning to Live
Space-Dyed Vest

Encore:

Octavarium (with Kevin Moore again as well as Derek S, Mike Mango, and a Charlie Dominici Hologram all assisting the performance at various points)
I'm never sleeping in a teepee again - Father John Misty

The f-bomb is irrelevant.

The song just rocks, from beginning to end.  It's fun.  There's no mystery here.

Me too. We didn't get it in Toronto this year (although I was very happy with the setlist we got), and I hope to get a chance to hear it live someday. I also hope they never stop playing "Pull Me Under".

I like it specifically because of the f bomb.

I only listen to DT songs that have the F word in it.

Any word, literally, that starts with F is good.
