UGH! As USUAL, JLB fudges up his speech before song! Cmon man, you've been doing this your whole career! His sentiments were real though;  :heart  he just has a really bad problem talking to crowds!

^One way or another there is always a reason to bash James.

Honestly ffs, that could be to do with the fact his friend and MP's sister just passed away. Of course he's going to be a bit shaken up. I thought it was a lovely tribute.

He may have gotten the words of the speech wrong but his pitch was pretty on.

I lost my father to cancer and got the news he passed during my planning period, and about 40 minutes later I had to teach a great group of kids. I can sympathize with MP, it's hard and yet there's something in doing what you love for people that helps carry you through it. And to do it with an amazing and relevant song like TSCO, man I was nearly in tears from that video.

Yeah, he gets a pass from me. Clearly seemed shaken up...of all the things to critique, I'm not sure his 'speech' regarding MP's loss is something worth picking apart. I mean, they were all in tears, my man.

Yet, being the one dedicating a speech to the passing of a band mates sibling who passed minutes before the show that they still played is NOT something he's had to do his whole career.

He was obviously emotional for the situation and besides one small blip, showed great sincerity and empathy in his speech for his band mate at such a vulnerable moment.

Come on man, you're better than a comment like this.

I think we can all agree it was a touching tribute in an incredibly tough moment for all involved (MP especially). Hard to fault anyone (especially James who was fronting it all as their, well, frontman) for any misspoken words.

Under A Glass Moon from tonight Bratislava concert.

I can live with this.

Something I've noticed from all of these recent shows is, while the range is diminished, his voice sounds much stronger than it did during Dreamsonic. That classic JLB warmth is there (for the most part), especially during the softer sections (ballads, the "under a glass moon light" part, etc).

The whole band is Getting tighter and tighter! JP nailed that solo, and MP is sounding more and more comfortable. James as well!

I'm gonna say something a little messed up here, but I hope there'll be an epic that comes after Parasomnia for MP's sister. Loss seems to inspire some of their best songs.

I'm sorry, but this is an insane take.

That was a very heartfelt moment from JP to Portnoy. I know it must've been really hard to play TSCO after just hearing a sibling had passed away. Due to this, it really brought out the emotion of the song, and I personally feel it brought the song to life, sort of as if her spirit was there jamming along as well, sitting there by Portnoy like JP was by his side.

I am also sure that Myung was emotional about it as well, he seems like a person who can hide his emotion well in public.

Another video of TSCO, focussing on MP. Man, that must have been tough to get through.  :'(

This makes me wonder: Was it right to tell him about it 30 minutes before the show, or should they have waited until after the show? I mean, to spring the news on him and the play a show in total shock straight away couldn't have been easy at all. Would it have been better until after the show nor not?

This has been my thought as well. MP said it was his brother to tell him, I guess that when you lose a sister, your immediate first thought is not to check the timezone and calculate if your famous brother is already playing a show or not.

We don't know the details, how much Mike was anticipating it, if he insisted to be kept up to date, if he was texting his sister often and realized she wasn't answering anymore, if there was a situation where he could have found out by other people in the family.... I agree from the outside that they should have told him after the show but there is a number of personal reasons that might have justified telling him immediately.

If this is the focus of your takeaway from the events in Zagreb, then I would encourage you to go touch some grass.

I know I was bitching about TSCO being in rotation again, but from 4:10 on makes me glad it was. What a moment.

krands85

Very sad news :'(  Incredible strength of character and professionalism to go out there and still manage to put on a great show for everyone after being told that. Really touching to see that moment between MP and JP.
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

Personally, I find James' manner of speaking to crowds to be especially special endearing.

I was yesterday in Bratislava enjoying my fourth and definitely so far best DT show yet. Everything from great sound quality in the venue, setlist, atmosphere in the audience, PORTNOY! - was there. But day before in Zagreb it must have been much more emotional because of Mike's sister passing. That TSCO video is very touching.  :'(

Keep in mind that Samantha knew all the guys and they all spent time with her through the years. She was one of DT's biggest fans, and it wasn't just because her brother was in the band. They all knew and loved her.

Thank you, as soon as I read his posts I reported them to the team.

I am so sorry for your loss, Mike. I lost my daughter to cancer; I know what it feels like to lose a loved one to this horrible illness. Unfortunately, cancer doesn't discriminate against age, ethnicity, etc. My heart goes out to you, and your family. Stay strong, brother.
