Let's make this one a little more fun.

I have to go with the 80's and 90's.  I took the 80's over the 70's in the previous poll, and of the six studio albums post-80's, two of my three favorites are from the 90's (Roll the Bones and Counterparts).

The only album I’d really miss out of Group 1 is Vapor Trails. Group 2 plus Vapor Trails is my favorite run from Rush.

This is like the mean vs the average. Hard to leave out Hemispheres from ANY Rush album list.....but the balance of music in the second option is better.

Permanent Waves messes this up for me. I'd nearly take Rush-Hemispheres over the entire rest of the discography, but PW might be my favorite Rush album start to finish. But I could realistically do without everything else in Option 2 (except The Pass, which has some nostalgic value, aside from being a killer song). So... Option 1, I guess.

First group easily. Only the debut and Vapor Trails are weak albums in this group.

Second group contains 4 weak Rush albums: Hold Your Fire, Presto, Roll the Bones and Test for Echo.

My first thought was 70's without question, but this is harder than it looks.  I'd be skipping Moving Pictures, Signals and Presto. But if I go 80's, I'd be skipping AFTK and Hemispheres.

I think it might be the 80's after all.

And here we go again (in a good way).

Let's start with the '80s and '90s.  We've got PEW, MP, Signals, Presto, Counterparts and TFE.  The rest can be largely disregarded as four of the band's bottom six albums.

For the other category, we've got FBN, 2112, Kings, Hemispheres, VT, half of the debut, half of COS, and a few songs on each of S&A and CW.

All I can say is that, for me, you did a great job of making these categories really even.  I think I'm going to go with the '70s-plus.  However, I predict that the '80s and '90s will dominate -- probably by an even greater margin than in the '70s v. '80s poll.

On the surface, it seemed like it would be a tough decision.  The first option has some great albums in Fly By Night, 2112, AFTK, Hemispheres, Vapor Trails, and Clockwork Angels.  When matched against the 80s and 90s output, though, for me, there's really no other choice.  Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Power Windows, and Grace Under Pressure are all consistently great, and this period also contains my sentimental favorite in Presto (the first Rush album that really clicked with me to love it, back in high school around '96-97ish).  Hold Your Fire is still good in spite of its overall mellower nature.  And even my lesser liked albums in Signals and Roll the Bones are still miles above those in the other eras (S/T, Caress of Steel, and Snakes and Arrows).

So 80s and 90s Rush it is.

80's and 90's for me, since those are the albums I listen to most consistently.

80s but you can keep the awful TFE.
The other option has three albums I never play - the debut, S&A and VT. The highs of 70s Rush beat 80s Rush though.

I have to go 80's and 90's.  PW and MP are my 2 favorite Rush albums.  So, it's pretty easy for me.  If you split up PW and MP, it might be a harder call.

Permanent Waves through Test for Echo. I guess that's the mood I've been in over the more recent years, I keep spinning the 80s and 90s Rush but rarely go back to the early stuff.

Next will be the odd numbered albums versus the even numbered albums (which I wish I hadn't thought of because I'm now going to have figure out what that would look like).
