Which keyboard is it?
I ended up going with this one-

I've already got a set of replacement keycaps for it with the oldschool grey/beige look. Those stock keycaps are not good on many levels.
Interesting look. What makes it so expensive?
It's a mechanical keyboard, which has high quality individual switches for every key, instead of just one big piece of rubber with contacts on it like the cheapo $10 keyboards you get at any store. The switches last a lot longer, feel better to type on, and are much more consistent etc. High end keyboards also have better electronics, so that it will register any number of simultaneous keypresses, instead of just beeping at you.
This keyboard is one of the better brands of mechanical keyboard, so you're also paying for rock solid construction. Other keyboards often have backlighting, media keys, etc, but I just wanted a high quality keyboard without any gimmicks.
