I'm checking it out right now and really digging it. You're right; the piano and electronic sounds really make it something amazing. This is another band for me to check our further. The music reminds me of Anathema, circa Weather Systems and We're Here Because We're Here.
Awesome! I can see how it reminds you of Anathema, I have only listened to Weather Systems a few times, I should really explore them some more :azn:

Weather Systems and We're Here Because We're Here are two of their better ones since they dropped the death metal vocals. WHBWH was named Prog Album of the Year by Classic Rock Prog magazine and it deserves that award in every way.
I only heard one song from maybeshewill a while ago and didn't like it enough to check for more. But I'm curious only by seeing that cover art and also if it's anything like Anathema I could like it.

That's a pretty good album - surprised me as they did nothing for me back in the day.

i have that maybeshewill album but never really got into it, wasn't really the kind of post-rock i'm looking for.
mogwai has never been a band i particularly cared for either so that's probably part of it, similar very song-based albums and all

I feel like Train of Thought might have lost its spot as my no. 1 DT album. This relisten is really changing my rankings a lot and I'm only halfway through.

I don't mind it from time to time.   Back in the 80's/early 90's me and Lowdz kept Shrapnel in business , and so Macalpine is what got me there.  I've been out of the loop for 20 years but back when I played I was playing in metal bands but also  jazz/blues bands etc..... so it's not totally foreign in that regard either.  Back then I listened to guys like Scott Henderson, Frank Gambale etc.....

These days it'll be once in a blue moon that I play something like that , but I do find it a nice change in small doses.

I like One Man Army better. Unsung Heroes had few great songs and others I really don't care for. It took me a while to get into it but now I think every song on One Man Army is good.

What the fuck  :lol that's the new Obsidian Kingdom right? It sounds interesting, some nice Justin Bieber is all I've been waiting for in music this year!
