Anybody familiar with Denver? Need some tips.
« on: June 06, 2013, 10:50:06 PM »
Just started school here in the southeast part of the city. I'll be here 'til about mid July, or maybe permanently if I find work. Anyway, a vast majority of the students in my class are from overseas, some in America for the first time, and in the event that I may end up shuttling people around a bit this weekend (and in the coming weeks), I want to be somewhat prepared. I'm eager to show them the Rockies, but I think they're wanting to check out the main downtown area first, and I don't really know what places to check out there.

Aside from downtown and eventual mountains/hiking, I'd like to check out Golden a bit more, and I found a pretty cool cafe/bar in Littleton that serves a ton of great craft and Colorado beers. Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately no. But let me tell you about this little cafe just east of Dakota State University.

It's called the Norse Cafe, and upon entering you're hit with a epic painting of vikings defeating a tidal wave and pillaging some new land. The owner is an older gentleman with a massive beard, whose counter is filled with football nd viking related beer mugs and it's awesome. On top of the Norwegain paintings, you're treated to amazing burgers and other food.
It's a magical place that all passing throught thearea really need to stop at.

I've kind of decided that Denver is the worst thing about Colorado.

The drive up to Mt. Evans is great, and it's not a very long trip from there. Good pizza in Evergreen on the way back.

If you're already on the SE side, then you're not too far from Garden of the Gods, which makes for some pretty nice hiking.
