Well, most people here I think do it with around 30-40, so 60 hours is also a lot here, but it's not an exception. I know a lot of people who had that many. They're really pretty strict here, and as I said, I had some misfortunes :P

Holy crapsticks, Europe must do things a lot differently. I never took any paid lessons, my parents just let me learn by driving the car. And I think taking the real test was only like $20 or something (not sure what that would be in Euros).

20$ is like 15€, so not really anything. And even discounting the fact that it's completely illegal here in Germany to drive in a car without a certified driving teacher while not having your license yet, it's also impossible to take the exam with no lessons - you have have had at least 24 lessons, I think it is, with 12 of those being standard lessons, and 12 being specialised lessons, which further divide into 5 lessons outside of the city, 4 lessons on the highway and 3 at night (or after dark, at any rate). So it's pretty much impossible to pay anything less than 1000€ (1400$) for getting your license in Germany.

You have to do the 12 specialised lessons in Germany, but other than that I think you only need one more practical lesson?
Not that that is a realistic scenario, but isn't one standard lesson (not counting the special ones) the minimum by law?

Here in North Carolina (U.S.), the driver's ed classes are part of the high school curriculum.  No charge.

You just have to pay the actual licensing fee when you go to take the license exam.  And insurance, of course.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

It's the same here, but I often practiced parking with my dad in a quiet area late in the evening

Damn, My mom & dad has to send me to a drivers ed class, not associated with school and had to pay for it.

Not sure on that exactly. You might be right! I just though I remember something with 12 lessons, though I might be mixing that up with the 12 specialised ones. Either way, 24 in total sounds pretty realistic.

And here I came to troll some DT-side noobs, and all I find is names I know and recognize.

:wtf:

Why isn't the DT-Side chat thread isn't filled with DT-side posters?  What's this thread even good for?

Yesterday a female stranger paid me some money after I had done a service that pleased her :zydar:

In other words: I was mowing the lawn in an area next to someone's backyard, and an old lady came to me and paid 40€(!), thanking me and saying the lawn looks great. I mean, I was just doing a job I get paid for already and the area wasn't even part of her yard :P Well, that was probably the weirdest way I've ever earned money :D

Holy smokes that would be tough, darn near impossible, for DT to pull off, unless the requested set was decided a few weeks before the gig or something...

With a band like Metallica, not only are the songs not as challenging to play, but they have their "hits" that they probably assume people will pick.  Looking quickly at the Metallica by request sets, most of those songs are songs they usually play anyway.  With DT, who knows what songs would be selected, as they don't really have "hit" songs.
