11. The Glass Prison
The best song of the 12SS by far. It's one of DT's most energetic songs and it gets me awake six degrees of inner turbulence and manages to fill my blood with adrenaline each time I listen to it. Even if I'm tired and depressed this will give me some energy, it's just amazing. There's only a single part in the song that's not as good as the rest of the song, and that's the scratching part. The rest is just amazing.

Fixed.

3 great songs, the songs from SDOIT moreso than ITPOE imo. ITPOE is underrated though, so it's nice to it ranked highly. :tup

8. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
The best song on the album with the same name. It's just amazing, I love it. Every single part of it is fantastic and I really think of it as a whole, a story. It's really intriguing. And yes, not a single song from 6DOIT is not in my top 50 and it's my favourite album. Actually, the songs in spots 11-8 are pretty much interchangable. I tend to shift them around them a lot and I've even done that while I was already posting my top 50 here.

7. The Count of Tuscany
Haters gonna hate! The intro to this song is absolutely amazing. And then, after a few minutes, a story begins to unfold. A story that many find uninteresting or cheesy; either way, everyone thinks the lyrics are cheesy. Well, I mostly care a lot about lyrics; but this is one of the few examples where the lyrics are cheesy but I still love them because of the story. I admit, the least good part of the song is the whole first part with all the famous quotes ("LET ME INTRODUCE MY BROTHAH" etc) but I still absolutely love that part. The intro is even better and the instrumental parts after all the cheesy lyrics which include JP's incredibly awesome volume swells and the whole mellow bit are one of the best things DT have ever made. Seriously, if the whole song was as good as that last part, this song would've been top 3 material for me. It's just incredible. When I'm feeling really depressed, this is one of the epic songs that I like to put on. It never fails to cheer me up because it's so mindblowing. One last thing: the whole woaaoaooaoaoahooaooaoao sing along part in the outro is one of the outro things that DT have done a few times (ITNOG, LTL) and I love it to death. It's just amazing. One of the best album closers EVER.

For me, SDOIT was partially ruined by them shoe-horning in some "hey don't forget we're heavy" sections into an otherwise beautiful, mellow, melancholy song. Remove movements 3 and 4 and it would rate a lot higher for me.

This is probably how I feel too. Even though 3&4 where rather cool to see live  :)

War Inside My Head is my favorite part, but I don't care about The Test too much. However, my biggest gripe with 6D is the lack of cohesion - it doesn't feel like one song. None of the sections are bad, but the way they've been put together isn't the best one IMO.

6. Scarred

Yeah, he's scarred.

5. Finally Free
Best song off SFAM, period. One of DT's best album closers ever! The it's-not-quite-over-yet feeling this song gives me when I listen to SFAM is very epic. You think (and Nicholas too) that the story is over, but it isn't. The start of the song is one of the best parts actually. Just put on some headphones, close your eyes and begin to relax and listen to that guitar and piano notes. It's just haunting. I love the way the song reprises One Last Time too. And every single instrumental bit in this song is just amazing. And James' vocals. And everything.

4. In The Name of God
One of DT's best epics and definitely the best song on ToT. This is so amazing, I can't get enough of it. Another sing along outro here, and one of the best. It's just the perfect epic in the style of Train of Thought and definitely one of DT's best epics. I absolutely love it.

3. Learning To Live
Do I even need to write anything about this song? The only complaint about it that I hear every now and then is about the first few verses. Well, I don't understand any of it. This song is just so amazing, I love the lyrics! What's wrong with the first few verses? I love them! The intro is great, and once again everyone performs top notch here. It's such a shame they didn't play this one when I saw them in 2011 (due to problems with feedback from MM's bass drums, they started playing almost half an hour after they were supposed to start and thus scrapped LTL off the setlist due to time issues...).

ITNOG is amazing. LTL wouldn't make my top 50. The weakest track on IAW (excluding WFS, which I'm including together with LTL here).

Nah, the weakest song on I&W is Another Day. But it's still great.

Another Day has great melodies, it's concise, and it's catchy. LTL has awkward melodies, strange phrasing, and a piss weak chorus. I'll take Another Day any day (no pun intended).

Last update. Thanks to everyone reading, and more thanks to everyone who posted responses :tup And yes, I LOVE EPICS.

2. A Change of Seasons
Perfect. Just perfect. Features my all time favourite JLB vocals (Another World) and some of my favourite instrumental bits. This song is just amazing beyond belief and doesn't have a single flaw. It's perfect, and almost DT's best epic...

1. Octavarium
...but how can anything other than Octavarium be DT's best epic? This song has been my favourite song of all time for a long time.

I -  Someone Like Him

The intro by Jordan Rudess is my favourite DT intro ever. Just amazingly beautiful, and it succeeds to draw you into the song's atmosphere immediately. Someone Like Him also features some of my favourite JP lyrics. The irony in them is just brilliant.

II - Medicate (Awakening)
And here are some of my favourite JLB lyrics. This section is even more beautiful than Someone Like Him, and the vocals...  :hefdaddy :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

III - Full Circle
My least favourite section of this song. But hey, it's still absolutely stunning. I love the idea behind the lyrics, and this section is so dynamic, I love it!

IV  - Intervals
The whole Octavarium concept is probably my favourite lyrical/theme thing MP has ever created. I just love this section, it's so incredibly epic. The references to each song on the album are just fantastic. The whole "TRAPPED INSIDE THIS OCTAVARIUM!" bit once again features some of my favourite JLB vocals, especially on Score. I can't get enough of that.

V - Razor's Edge

As good as The Crimson Sunset section in ACOS is, this just beats it, and quite easily too. I don't really have words for it. And oh, best JP solo ever. Best outro ever.
