Brilliant update time!

23. Space-Dye Vest
My second favourite DT ballad. It's so incredibly emotional and dark. It's the perfect ending to Awake and the KM era. The only complaint I have about this song really is the samples. I like their inclusion but there are a bit too many of them.

22. Disappear
...and my favourite DT ballad. This song is so amazing. It sounds really REALLY dark and depressed; so much that I hated it when I first listened to it. I skipped it every time on SDOIT. And then one day I woke up to find I listened to it again and I absolutely loved it. The lyrics are some of the saddest lyrics I've ever seen/heard. But the best part of this song is the atmosphere. It's so desperate and dark, but also very beautiful. And the last lines by James... "Let them come take you home....."

21. Under A Glass Moon
epic intro - brilliant instrumental shit - brilliant vocals - instrumental fills - more epic vocals - epic chorus - more brilliant instrumental shit - more epic vocals - another epic chorus - cool instrumental section with epic keys - WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYkasdsdsdmkkgdkgkdgkkkgkksmksiyieieieeieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeieeieieiiieieisdiwooowoowwowwoawaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaawldlddldldldldllfooeoeoooooooooooooooefoeofeooeoooeooooooowowowowowowooowowowwowowowoooooooooowwoowoooowowowowowowowwodsleieiieieiieieieieieieiiielalallalaiiieieeieielalalalalalaowooeeoeeeeldwldowoowowowwwowoweoielwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhwiiiiiiiiiwoowowdwdwdwd (yep, guitar solo) - more instrumental shit - epic keys solo!!!11!! - more instrumental shit - epic chorus - intro reprise in outro - STAHP
And it's even better on Score!

I vote your UAGM write-up to become 'write-up of the month'. Or of the year. Or whatever.

Don't worry, you may (partly) agree with me now but you're definitely going to hate me later on.

It's going to be Scarred, isn't it? I hate you.

Well, I certainly like Disappear more than SDV, but I otherwise wouldn't really compare them.

Update time!

20. Beyond This Life
When I first started listening to DT, I immediately loved this song and listened to it a lot. I especially loved the instrumental section and the "All that we learn this time..." parts. When I heard the LAB version, I was blown away. That was just breathtaking. But for some reason, I started listening to this song less and less and though I didn't like it as much as the rest of SFAM. But when I started creating my top 50 list, I was blown away again by how great this song was. It's just fantastic...

19. Through My Words/Fatal Tragedy
...but still not quite as good as these ones. I used to just listen to the whole of SFAM and didn't really think much of these. But when I saw DT live in 2011, they played them. And for once I listened well to it, and my mind was blown. Why hadn't I listened to it well enough before? It's just so amazing. The instrumental section in FT is one of DT's very best.

18. Lines in the Sand
One of DT's grooviest songs. This song just kicks ass from the start of the intro to the end of the outro. It's so incredibly energetic! I love everything in this song, and the backing vocals in the chorus are bloody amazing. The middle section is great and features one of JP's best guitar solos. And it builds up so nicely again from there! It also features probably James' best vocals in the time of the food poisoning accident. His vocals on FII are not too great sometimes (especially when compared to Awake and I&W...) but he sings great in this song.

BlobVanDam

:metal Great update.
BTL and Fatal Tragedy are easily among my favourites from SFAM, largely because of their awesome instrumental sections, so I agree with you on Fatal Tragedy having one of their best. Everyone always mentions the groove of LITS, and that's exactly what initially drew me to it.

Scorpion

Lines in the Sand is far too low, but on the whole, I supremely approve of this update. Fatal Tragedy fucking slays. :metal :metal

Not too fond about the others.

Thanks for the responses guys :)

17. Misunderstood
I mentioned Disappear was my favourite DT ballad; that's because I don't really consider this song as being a simple ballad. There's way more to it. I mean, it starts out as a ballad, but the choruses are not really ballad-like and the whole experimental thing in the outro isn't like a ballad at all. Anyway, it's a fantastic song which many people seem to dislike because of the experimental shit happening at the end. I didn't really like it either at first, but it really grew on me. This song just manages to be absolutely beautiful and very experimental at the same time. It's fantastic!

16. Breaking All Illusions
A song that reminded me of LTL at first listen. But it's very different in a way. The lyrics are great (long live JM!) and everything else is just perfect too. The guitar solo is fantastic but is even more than that live. I don't know, the emotion of it sometimes doesn't really get through on the album, but it definitely does live. Really, one of the few small complaints I have about ADTOE is the mixing/producing and the many effects on James' voice. Perhaps that's the reason the guitar solo sounds a bit tame on the album. Anyway, it's still a fantastic song, otherwise I wouldn't have placed it here :lol

15. Voices
A fantastic followup to the very good instrumental Erotomania. It's just another song at the end of the KM era that features top notch performances by everyone. It's very mature and just amazing.

?

BAI and Voices are phenomenal, and Misunderstood is a cool tune as well! :tup

DebraKadabra

Voices could stand to be a smidge higher, and BAI is stellar.

BlobVanDam

Misunderstood is amazing, Voices is great, but I think BAI is overrated. It's ok, but I'd probably rank it low enough that you'd all have to take a drink.

14. Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper
I don't have to write anything about this song, since everybody knows how good it is.

13. Bridges in the Sky
Fantastic song. When I heard the teaser sample of it, I was amazed by its heaviness. And when I heard it first on ADTOE, I was amazed again. It features my favourite vocals on ADTOE, hands down. It's just incredibly tight with everything being amazing. The Siberian throat singing in the intro is great and was a huge buildup live. This song was also the perfect opener, just amazing.

12. Trial of Tears
Another song which features JM's epic poetic verses that we call lyrics. The intro is one of the best DT have ever made, it's so beautiful and ambient. James' vocals on this song are one of his best on FII, and of course they're even better on LAB. This song is the perfect closer of FII. The best part of the whole song is the "Still awake..." section.

Here's the last time I'll do a batch of 3. Next few updates will be in batches of 2 since we're entering my top 10 :)

11. The Glass Prison
The best song of the 12SS by far. It's one of DT's most energetic songs and it gets me awake and manages to fill my blood with adrenaline each time I listen to it. Even if I'm tired and depressed this will give me some energy, it's just amazing. There's only a single part in the song that's not as good as the rest of the song, and that's the scratching part. The rest is just amazing.

10. Blind Faith
And this is even better than TGP. It's one of the tightest DT songs ever recorded and it's just so amazing. The fade-in in the intro is really cool and kind of haunting, but then it gets really relaxing. Some people seem to hate the chorus, but I love it. It just fits. And the instrumental section is one of my favourites. This is just incredible.

9. In The Presence of Enemies
Despite all the hate that SC gets, there is one song on the album that most people seem to like, and that I absolutely love. And this is it. Part 1 is one of the best openers on any DT album. Part 2 is one of the best closers and its first few notes remind me somewhat of the way Finally Free closes off SFAM: the penultimate song ends, and you think it's all over, but then it isn't. There's just one thing left. And in this case, it's the second part of the epic the whole album started out with. I love the story this song tells; it's obviously even better if you listen to the whole thing. One last thing: the second part in particular offers some of the best vocals on both SC and BC&SL... "I DO NOT FIIIIGHT FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.... DARK MASTERRRRRRR!"
