I like it so much, I will still roll down the window on a summer day and unashamedly blast it for all the unsuspecting drivers in other vehicles to be made to listen to, whilst I sing along (in harmony).

Well if it was going to be anybody here... :rollin

The Fixx - Saved by Zero

This was the other Fixx song that I thought was great back in the day (along with Stand or Fall, which was already featured).  I love the rhythmic nature of it, and I like how the guitar is in lock and step with the rhythm for pretty much the whole song.  I had zero recollection of the video before checking it out just now, and it looked sort of familiar, but nothing special or anything.

FINALLY, after such a long string a bad songs, a song I can finally say rises to the level of, "eh, I guess I wouldn't change the channel if it came on, but don't hate on me too much if I have a tendency to doze a bit."

The Fixx had some cool, catchy songs, and this was one of them.  I like.

I just saw them live in April and they played this song.  I've always loved The Fixx.  They have a bit of prog in them with pop sensibility.  Great tune.

Hehe, well, I have done around 350+ songs in this thread now, and I think I have done most of the major ones that people here are most likely to like a lot, so I am kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel at times just to keep the thread going.

LOVE that song, and the album it's on.  I was pleasantly surprised at how good it holds up when I listened to it recently.

And they still sound damn good live.  Ty still has his voice and is an awesome front man.

True, but I think the song is actually from 1989, even though it was a hit in 1990.  Besides, it sounds totally 80s, so, uh, yeah. :lol

Thread resurrection!!!!!!!!!!!

Def Leppard - Rock of Ages

My least favorite of the three big MTV hits from Pyromania, but it's still a good tune.  It just wasn't as good as the other two, and it has aged as well as the others, too: still a good song, but not as good as I thought it was back then.

Great tune.  I remember when "Cum On Feel The Noize" ruled Friday Night Video Fights for weeks on end.  It was glorious.  Then one night, it went up against "Rock of Ages".  I didn't even bother to stay up to see how it ended.

Ah, the good ole Friday Night Video Fights.  I remember Photograph dominating for like 10+ weeks back in '83.  I can't even remember if it was ever defeated, or if they just eventually "retired it" from competition and started over with two new videos.  But yeah, Def Leppard was mad over with the MTV crowd even back then, which was nothing compared to 1987, when the whole world was seemingly worshipping at the feet of Hysteria (although not Women, which flopped as the first single).

Pretty low on my list of DL singles. So the aging drop-off is not steep, since it wasn't high to begin with.

This is where it all started for young bosk.  Yes, I had dabbled in hard rock before this.  But then I saw this video and my reaction was:
"This is the coolest thing I have ever seen."

I could never get into Def Leppard.  Their songs weren't bad, I guess, but I really hated that overproduced, pushing-the-redline sound.  The vocals especially sound distorted to me.

I know what you mean, Orbert.  I think that was the Queen influence, those layered harmonies, but while Queen's sounded lush and like a big choir of voices, Def Leppard's often sounded overproduced and, like you said, distorted.  It probably didn't help that no one in Def Leppard could sing as well as the guys from Queen.  I always chuckle at Tie Your Mother Down at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.  Brian May sounds better singing the first verse of that song than Joe Elliot does singing the rest of it.

Oh hey it's my thread again.  :lol

Sadly, I was a few years before my adventuring days when Pyromania was out, so I can't bring out one of my stories to celebrate the return of the thread though.  Pyromania is a classic, though, and Rock of Ages is just a killer rock anthem type song. Audience loved it when I saw them WAY back when on this tour.

Talk Talk - It's My Life

I have to admit that I had completely forgotten about this song until recently.  I never paid much attention to it back when it was popular, but it was on enough to where it was recognizable.  When I heard it a few weeks ago, for the first time in probably nearly 30 years, I was like, "Oh yeah, I remember that."  It's an enjoyable enough tune, albeit not really noteworthy.

Van Halen - Dreams

Love this song; definitely one of my favorites of the Hagar era.  But I was never quite sure back then why they did a video featuring the Blue Angels.  Seemed odd, considering none of the other songs from 5150 had a proper video.
