What should my 1000th album be?
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:35:25 AM »
I currently have 999 albums in my library. I have decided to let the good people of DTF decide what lucky number 1000 will be.

Discuss.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

I forgot to mention the criteria for album selection.

I have to feel confident based on the name of the band, the style of music, and the tracklist, that I'm going to fucking love that album. Choose wisely.

Dir en grey - Dum Spiro Spero

or

Dir en grey - Uroboros

Both are totally awesome extreme metal albums that deserve hearing.

...my name is Araragi.

I've been meaning to get Uroboros. I've heard a few songs that I like.

So far, that one and Captain Beefheart are the top contenders.

Theocracy - Mirror Of Souls

No idea if you've heard them, like them, hate them, etc., but I've never seen you talk about them. Progressive/melodic metal with beyond amazing vocals:

Heard some of their stuff. Not terrible, but not 1000th album worthy.

First thing that popped into my head was "A Thousand Suns" by Linkin Park

Not really my cuppa, but the title is cool for your 1000th album purchase

Tool's "10,000 Days" might also be cool if you don't already have it.

Zilcho made me (a non folk) listen to it, and I loved it right away.

You already have so many suggestions.  You've probably listened to all the stuff I've listened to, but I can recommend either:

Frost* - Milliontown
Kino - Picture

With Frost* having priority.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. G. Sertillanges

Ritual is awesome, and I don't know if anybody else on the board has ever heard them.

Since I'm sure UMH couldn't care less about what I actually recommend, I'm just gonna toss my hat in with the underdog.  Seriously good album.
