Best of luck sorting things out, everyone is welcome to stay here if they like, all we ask is to stick by the rules. :)

It would be cool if people sorted things out instead of one dude shutting everything down every time someone pisses him off.

lol I got banned by Thal for posting this:

"Apparently bans are being handed out left right and center.
IF YOU'RE NOT WITH US, YOU'RE AGAINST US!

I'll probably get banned for posting this."

And this was the error message I got on 5/8:

"You have been banned for the following reason: Oh snap, option 2. Yep. See how easy it is to weed out the people who have nothing useful to contribute?."

(option 1 was deal with it, option 2 was leave the forum, aka if you didn't like what was going on)

Five-eight could use some cleaning up and was already getting a lot more friendly by itself, but indiscriminately banning people isn't going to help things.

In his position, without people to defend themselves, he can make up anything he wants as a reason for banning them.

Pardon me if I am incorrect, but hasn't something similar to this happened several times already?

Yeah, seriously, there should be more that one person sharing total control of that forum.  I understand getting mad, but there are way more people on that board who have absolutely nothing to do with whatever happened on IRC.

Nope, only a few, and they don't contribute. There were only 3 contributing mods besides myself.

I don't go there much, but it seems to happen there at least once a year, so it can't really be a surprise when it happens again and again and again.

Damn, this had to happen when I was posting more in the Arts and Sports threads there! :getoffmylawn:

Also, the new software in that place was beautiful. These dramatic turn of events are happening too often over there.

just goddamn it all

we seriously have something good over there and about 5 people don't seem to give a shit; they have some warped vision of how the board is supposed to work and who it belongs to and are completely out of touch with the community. and yet these people have the power or connections to it.

it's just all a shame. and a sham.

Meh, the like feature is rather pointless, but mainly because I don't care/it doesn't matter to me what posts people like. Not a diss on anyone.

Personally, I'm not very fond of how things are generally handled on 5/8, but actions like that make me go :mehlin quite a bit. Not that I care too much, though, I haven't posted there for four years...

Ditto.  This only time I ever went there was in April of 09 when this board crashed.  Felt like I needed to take a shower after every visit.

This post makes me happy. haha.

Anyways looks like we've all been un-banned and life goes on as usual! I don't think things would be the same without an annual or semi-annual meltdown on 5/8...

Yea, it was kind of weird yesterday.  I'd just registered last week and was there long enough to figure out the place is insane (think Count of Tuscany, just with NSFW lyrics) and HEY I RECOGNIZE SOME AVATARS, USERNAMES, and SIGNATURES in here!!!  I see what you all have done.

Both forums have value to their individual members.

I look forward to both forums co-existing harmoniously with those members.

good day, well wishes too everyone from that place
