according to afterdawn.com the PS3 has finally been cracked/soft modded for back up play.

on the heals of announcing that game developers are already producing games for the PS4.

What, a PS4? I suppose it wouldn't be a surprise for it to be released within 3 years or so. To that end it wouldn't be surprising at all to have developers prepping games at this point to hit the release window, but what exactly does development mean here? Are developers just hedging bets or was there some info that development kits or a time frame for release were approaching/already arrived?

I agree, but I think the next gen will be 3D. It's only a matter of time until we have 3D hologram game systems.

The game doesn't look that interesting, but you should download the trailers on PS shop for 3D Dot Hero. Some nice parodies, including an Old Spice man and Most Interesting Guy in the World ones.

Naughty Dog's trilogy for the PS3 isn't over yet. They can't release the PS4 until that happens. I'm guessing late 2012 for any new consoles, but more realistically probably even later. Like Dimi said, the devs are just now capable of utilizing all the power. It's ridiculous to release a new console before then.

Except that Sony (and Microsoft) can make more money by releasing a new system. It would be nice if 10 year runs of dominance like the NES had were the norm, but sadly they are not anymore.

Do you have a 360? If not, some cross console games that are really good are the two Assassin's Creed games and Prince of Persia(2008), all from Ubisoft.

Exclusives that are all generally popular recommendations are the Uncharted series, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Little Big Planet.

I have a 360 already, so something more exclusive I suppose. I like all types of games, so anything goes.

The three I listed are big ones, then. Uncharted and Little Big Planet I would definitely look at since they're both completely new series that are very popular.

Other prominent exclusives:
God of War III(I think it is exclusive)
Heavenly Sword
Heavy Rain
Infamous
