Not much of a PT fan, so this one was easy.  Frankly, only Floyd could come close to rivaling this 5-album block from Rush.

Not to make this thread go off topic, but when I do Floyd in one of these, I am still deciding if I want to start it with Obscured by Clouds, or end it with The Final Cut.  I know some would like to pretend that Obscured.. doesn't exist and go with Meddle through The Wall, but it would be inaccurate.

Let's see here... of the PT albums you have, IMO In Absentia is the weakest link (I happen to think it's a touch overrated) but all of the other albums are quite stellar.

In the other corner, we have the golden prog age of Rush.  Sorry PT - Rush it is.

Those Rush albums are good, but Stupid Dream, In Absentia and Fear of a Blank Planet - 'nuff said.

I'm not even sure how this could possibly be a thing. That Rush run is one of the best runs of albums ever, regardless of genre. I figure only here would it even be close.  :lol

Again, very close, but went with Porcupine Tree after studying it a little bit.

You chose the wrong string of 5 by PT; Rush got my vote, though PT is my favourite band of the two.

Porcupine Tree. Their run has FOABP and Deadwing, which are quite cool, actually, even though the other didn't really do much for me.

Rush as a whole, however, bore me to tears. Easy decision.

Rush, Porcupine Tree's run would need to start earlier to even have a shot. ...and I'm not a huge Rush fan.

Not a big fan of either band, really, but that list of Rush albums -at least for me- makes up pretty much the only Rush albums I've ever had any interest in at all.  So Rush.

This was way too hard to pick. Rush is my favorite band and PT is not far behind. I decided to go with PT though. I would have picked Rush if the choice was AFTK-Signals, as Signals is my second favorite Rush album.

I was about to say how hard of a choice this was going to be, then I realized how little I actually listen to PT nowadays and how I still listen to Rush a lot, most of which is from that run of albums.

So Rush.

Although you picked the 5-album run of PT that I would pick as my favorite, I simply had to go with Rush. Heck, I would've picked the 5-album run of Rush one-off either way (COS-PEW, or AFTK-SIG). The only other 5 album-run from PT I would've picked would have been TSMS-IA.

Funny, that's the only album that I actually like.

Rush easily.

You chose the wrong string of 5 by PT

Signify through Deadwing would be my personal pick for best 5-album run by PT, but Fear of a Blank Planet is more popular than Signify, so it made sense to do the one I did.  Excluding The Incident was easy since that CD didn't go over well for a portion of the fanbase.

I'd do Obscured, The Final Cut is mainly a RW solo record. Most importantly I don't like The Final Cut.
