There was a performance where Portnoy yelled: James LaBraaeeeyyy during the song. Which was it?

Not so much a Live moment, but I can never unhear those cut lyrics from Fatal Tragedy, "I sense a need to try and clarify my memories. My quest begins today."

"Apocalyptic... JAMES LABRIE!" will forever be stuck in my head during CM.  :lol

WHO WANTS TO COME?!!

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

its in the studio song... as a sample (from the scene in the casino that is played at the same time)

Ah, yeah, I always skip that part, so it's not a wonder.

The way James sings "every step brings me closer to my last" in Pull Me Under on Live in Tokyo, MP's drumming in PMU intro on Budokan, "you can eat my ass and balls" in Fatal Tragedy chorus, many of the random high screams James did in many songs in the I&W days

Pretty much every high scream JLB introduced in 92-97 and more recently in 2012.

Most prominently, the F# or G at the ending of Pull Me Under ("Only until... your... will's DOOOOOOONE!!!")

Pretty much my post.

I'd say every change to ACOS haunts me but I don't even listen to the studio version anymore. Who needs that after the perfection of LSFNY.

 :omg:  HERETIC!!!!!!!!  .................... :P

See, I'm the opposite.  I really dislike the "parlor piano" or whatever you call it in the LSFNY version of ACOS.  So much so that I rarely watch it anymore, and I'd NEVER listen to it on the CD.

One that stands out to me on a positive is the Orchestra in 6DOIT off Score.

While I love the meat of that version, like the music they played, the piano solo, the Simpsons guitar solo, etc. The one thing that I'll never get over is the fans humming the guitar melody at the beginning. I know it's a popular thing to do, but I get annoyed when audiences sing along with instruments. So because of that, I'll still prefer the studio version.

I once found a youtube video where Labrie yelled "YEAH MOTHERFUUCCKER!!!!" in the middle of Honor Thy Father. It sounded so stupid that I hear it all the time now.

The extra screams JLB does in Perfect Strangers.  :blush I hear them even when I listen to the DP original.

Also... "Bonjour, Paris".

Also, during Schmedley Wilcox (CiM tour) at the end of the vocals in Razor's Edge, just as JP comes in on his guitar melody, MP made this "HOUGH" sound which I loved.

When I first heard it, I thought he burped or something. Shit was weird.

I just realized I can't unhear the intro to Fatal Tragedy, the way they played it on LSFNY.

Definitely this for me. Especially the F# in Under a Glass Moon and E in Take the Time.

JLB saying "Mr. John Petrucci!" while JP holds that final bend at the end of the solo in TSCO.

This. Gives me chills every time.

Yesterday I listened to Metropolis 2000 and I couldn't unhear "eat my ass and balls". So now it spreads from one live version to others as well. Seriously had to pause it and laugh at myself.

The one where I mistake Live at the Maquee with Live from Tokyo.

PLEASE! DON'T! GO!

Also, from Score, JLB's Oc-ta-va-ri-YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMM is so damn powerful that the studio version feels painfully empty.

It probably doesn't count, because you guys mostly mention James interacting with the audience, not actual rhythm modifications or whatever. But if I could take the vocal melodies of The Killing Hand from Live at the Marquee and replace it with the original album's as the standard for this song, including all the WOAAH's and the crazy screams in the song's grand finale, I would've been a happy man.

Also, the high notes James throws in Under a Glass Moon in the current tour. Hearing him screaming out "Praying for TIME to disappear" like that is either awesome or amusing every single time, which is enjoyable either way.

To think I spent 20 minutes looking for this when I was thinking "he probably meant LATM"
