Wait…..

Fucking Loverboy??

You're just realizing this now?  :lol
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

Puppies: Blackbraid -  Sadness and the Passage of Time and Memory

I love this album! :metal

In fact, they were my first choice for Wolfking's final round, but I didn't realize A Fine Day To Die was a cover, and he already knew the original song.

Interesting. Have you listened to Agalloch before? Blackbraid is basically Agalloch if they were a little less folky and a little more Atmo-Black.

Hey Stadler, your PM inbox is full.
Derek Sherinian probably stands 10 feet away from the urinal, shoots from downtown, and announces loudly that he's making history.

I've checked them out, but only surface level. Never really jumped in.

The Blackbraid caught my ear last year. Such a great album.

The best song you've sent in this roulette by far. Clean production, bittersweet and somewhat clever take on the subject, what's not to like?

This one?

Phew! Sorry guys, busy times here. Let's update:

One of these two.  First one?

Second one.

Am I the Rishloo one?

I forgot what you sent :lol Looked it up and yeah that's you. What's the song about?

This one?

Nope! Yours is the heavier guitars/the buildup one.

Is it my best entry so far?

Nah that was Peter Gabriel I think. Yours is the summer heat one.

Only two impressions left! Want to guess which one is Stadler's while he's out on his weekend?

jingle.boy - Loverboy: Pretty much exactly what I expected. Probably the best fit for the theme, but might not be quite the best fit for me musically right now.

The intro reminds me of Anathema - Ariel a lot and takes me out of the song for a bit, but otherwise I'd say this is one of the best songs here.

lonestar - Lovebites: Constant onslaught on the senses but better than your last entry for sure! So relentless, I'd love it to be a bit more melodic.

ariich - Monica Heldal: I like the lush acoustic soundscape with splashes of electric guitars and I like her voice.

Lonk - The Mars Volta: This reminds me of Rishloo big time; not only the singer sounds kinda alike, but I can't make any sense out of the lyrics either. Sounds grand though.

LithoJazzoSphere - Dave Brons: I watched the video and it made me want to switch from roadrunning to trailrunning next season. Just beautiful, fantastic voice too.

The best song you've sent in this roulette by far. Clean production, bittersweet and somewhat clever take on the subject, what's not to like?

twosuitsluke - *shels: Was positively surprised by heavy guitars making their sudden appearance, and with such a classic long buildup, the payoff delivers.

wolfking - In Flames: Does this have a tinge of metalcore to it? Definitely feels like it. If I'm ever in a screaming competition I want this guy on my team.

Sacul - Beth Gibbons: We're having +30°С over here and this feels like a perfect song for the smothering summer heat.

King - Sarah McLachlan: I think this is a crossover between pop and world music? I have a soft spot for this particular sound and I've even heard the artist collaborating with other projects in this genre. Very easy on the ears.

TAC - The Vision Bleak: From the first two lines, the singer just got to be German. :lol This plods at a steady pace, the sound is quite grim and I found it very appealing.

Elite - Ghost: Serious question: I don't know the original song, should I listen to it or should I just rank this on its own merit? Also very easy on the ears, like the warm synths sound.

Puppies - Blackbraid: The acoustic sections here are exceptionally nice, this is somewhat Agalloch-adjacent I think. If I'm ever in a growling competition... well, you get it.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Damn, I prefer the Beth Gibbons song but hope this one isn't far behind the Peter Gabriel one :P

Yeah, the Beth Gibbons song felt like something you would really enjoy (and I guess it is, you wouldn't have sent it otherwise lol).

So, a little change of schedule with how knackered I was yesterday and how busy I was today: next theme reveal tomorrow, comparisons maybe tomorrow or on Tuesday, results likely on Wednesday but could be earlier.

jingle.boy - Loverboy: Pretty much exactly what I expected. Probably the best fit for the theme, but might not be quite the best fit for me musically right now.

Shadow Ninja - Second Person: The intro reminds me of Anathema - Ariel a lot and takes me out of the song for a bit, but otherwise I'd say this is one of the best songs here.

lonestar - Lovebites: Constant onslaught on the senses but better than your last entry for sure! So relentless, I'd love it to be a bit more melodic.

LithoJazzoSphere - Dave Brons: I watched the video and it made me want to switch from roadrunning to trailrunning next season. Just beautiful, fantastic voice too.

Stadler - Gary Allan: The best song you've sent in this roulette by far. Clean production, bittersweet and somewhat clever take on the subject, what's not to like?

twosuitsluke - *shels: Was positively surprised by heavy guitars making their sudden appearance, and with such a classic long buildup, the payoff delivers.

It's part of a concept album, and if I'm being 100% honest, I don't know the full story  :lol I know it deals with an old man and some woman

I looked it up on Wiki and it says:

Quote
"The Widow" is notably the only short, pop-structured song on the album, although the last half of it features a lengthy, non-radio-friendly outro of manipulated tape loops of organs and electronic noise; for the single release, this part was edited out.

Did you give me the single version? :) Probably a wise choice too.

At this point I'm fairly familiar with every song I've got in this round. I'll work on results tomorrow but it's likely I won't finish them in one day as I won't have a lot of free time, so we're on track for Wednesday results. Meanwhile, people who are at the bottom of the scoreboard (and are not Stadler, Shadow Ninja, Elite and Lonk), should start thinking about a theme they'd like to pick. Guidelines will follow via PM, but the first theme for Round 4 will be:

A nightingale without a song

Oh yeah, While I like the ending on the album version, it does go a bit too long

Easy option out.  :'(
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.
