I don't think any band should do a song or album about CV19.
I think it would be in poor taste and way too on the nose as a subject matter. :dunno:

Bruce Springsteen made an entire album in the wake of 9/11 (The Rising) and it's one of the most acclaimed of his carrer. Granted, the songs were more focused on people and they were generic enough to pretend they were about other situations, so there weren't any direct songs about the planes (one was praising the firefighters), but still recent tragedies can be sang in songs if there's enough taste and sensibility.
But then of course I understand the reasoning behind "geez, it's one year we're living with this, at least with music let us forget about it for a little while".

Not a very impressive length, for their standards.

Prog:It shouldn't be.
The place where apparently girls kissing is a weird thing (?)
Prog:it certainly was unexpected to me when I remember seeing that happening at a DT concert (in 2016 and 2017), but it made sense somewhat IMHO. (during Surrounded in 2017 and Chosen in 2016) I thought, well, let them have it :D And you're right, it shouldn't be.

It's not. It's just very out of character for Dream Theater to title a song like that (much less an instrumental with no social commentary about LGBT rights or something). :lol

A double album!!!
I almost did that. But then came up with an imaginary concept album that takes up all of disc two and is an expanded story based on The Sky Moves Sideways instead. :corn(https://i.imgur.com/x9QcGRt.jpg)(https://i.imgur.com/xObVRJE.jpg)
A double album!!!
After looking at the album cover, I was almost expecting the track list to be a bunch of Porcupine Tree/The Sky Moves Sideways references.

Damn Good Ole Mr. Jackson sounds like a freakin masterpiece.
Only thing it's missing...Majesty symbol belly tattoo or pendant.
Damn Good Ole Mr. Jackson sounds like a freakin masterpiece.
It´s going to be a total blast of Southern vibes. At least, that´s what the voices are telling me.
Also, now that Rudess has fully switched from keyboards to lap-steel guitar, the creativeness has sparked tremendously!
Actually the Deluxe edition of "Bottle of Jack and a Fistful of Shotgun Shells" will include a bonus CD with some extra songs;
1. She Was a Desert Girl - 5:23
2. Moonshine and Big Mommas Cherry Pie - 4:29
3. I Ain´t Your Man, Missus - 6:21
4. Coyote Howl - 4:23
5. Six Shooters and Bouncy Hooters - 14:23 (Fully written by Myung in 2010 when dealing with void left by Portnoy. Those were some dark times which sparked the inspiration for this epic.
6. I'm A Maneater (Smell That Sweat) - 4:20
7. She Took My Ranch, But Ain't Gettin' The Dog - 8:23
8. Bad Boy Boogie (Louisiana Nights) - 3:33
It would be insane not to buy the deluxe edition.

Living in Shadows (68:20)
1. Fracture 11:41 (If On the Backs of Angels was a multi-part suite with different moods and tempos)
2. Trust and Vengeance 5:52 (Very rhythm-focused and catchy, in the vein of a more intricate Paralyzed)
3. A Fleeting Glance 6:14 (A gentle, building ballad in the vein of This is the Life)
4. Paradox 4:26 (Lyrics written by Mike Mangini, has similar rhythmic contortions to Room 137 but on a more 80s King Crimson stylistic palette)
5. Tears of Glass 8:01 (The prog rock tribute of the album, in the vein of Barstool Warrior but a bit more up-tempo)
6. Hoping in Vain 9:47 (A half-ballad Endless Sacrifice / Peruvian Skies type song)
7. Blinded 6:55 (Panic Attack meets The Enemy Inside. riffz)
8. Shouting at the Stars 10:34 (the 8 string epic of the album, but very multifaceted, kind of like At Wit's End in mood but takes a few minutes to build to something heavy)
9. Living in Shadows 4:50 (Plays a similar role to Beneath the Surface, but more melancholy and layered)
