I'm still deciding what to do. There's a three way tie. Restart? Can I restart a closed poll?

Round 8 is up. If the voting for this album is this scarce, Are we going to have any voters for the last two?

The next one will be hard for me but I will definitely be voting, pretty familiar with Dystopia too.

Not me. My Iced Earth collection is strictly CDs. And I didn't think Stu was half bad in the verses, but the choruses were back to goofytown. It sounds like he's doing a purposly shitty Barlow to make fun of him. Yeah, his highs might be great in Into Eternity, but not in Iced Earth.

I have most stuff but I haven't got the Gettysburg DVD.  What the fuck was the point of that DVD?

Yeah, he sounds goofy as fuck.  I personally didn't like the verses either.

I don't know what I was expecting but I sure was disappointed when I got the DVD and it was just a bunch of projected images over the music playing.

The tour of Gettysburg was pretty bad also.  Cheap ass mics and the tour guide kept saying, "Think about that."

Well, Jon did and now he thinks it was all a conspiracy to tax the citizens more (probably)

No matter how cheesy it may have been, I would have preferred an actual music video with reenactments going along with the music. Someone on YouTube took scenes from the movie Gettysburg and did this, but they don't always line up.

I just bought the Melancholy EP and Tribute to the Gods online in mp3 format since I never really cared to own the cd's.  Man, I have only listened to Melancholy but their cover versions are shit.  What the hell is Tribute gonna be like.

EDIT:  The Ripper isn't too bad, but not excellent.

Tribute was pretty much Jon saying "we owe Century Media one more album, so fuck it, let's half ass a bunch of covers and then go to a label that is worth me working for because, fuck Century Media!"

Funny how that turned out... :rollin

I got it when I bought the Dark Genesis box set to get the early IE albums, so I just treated it as a bonus disc, but I can't imagine how someone who bought it separately reacted. When Cradle of Filth does a better version of Hallowed Be Thy Name than Iced Earth, you know you have issues.

As I said, The Ripper was okay, but the other two were crap.  I don't know what the hell Matt was trying to do in Electric Funeral.

I've heard all the originals and I think Iced Earth's versions of the Melancholy covers are all superior. The Ripper is kind of even I guess.

Usually when someone hears the cover first, they always think it's better than the original. IE's Electric Funeral is more metal and has more power than the original. I also think that Fozzy's cover of Where Eagles Dare is superior.

I can understand if the covers were the first version you hear.  I need to check that Fozzy cover.

After listening to a couple of tracks from Tribute, they are, well, average.  Technically, they are performed fine, but they are just a bit stiff and Jon should have spent some time to find some more appropriate guitar tones.  And Matt simply is not a cover singer.  He's okay on some of these but his vocals are so unique they just sound wrong on covers IMO.

I must say that Black Sabbath and Hallowed are pretty terrible.

I still don't like the mix much, but I can't tell why.

There's no bass to it, I think that's the problem. And the guitars sound too "perfect" and pretty sounding. It lacks power.

Everything sounds so sterile.  You could operate safely on someone with this mix.

I'm actually re-considering buying this.  Depends on the price I guess, if it's overpriced I might even wait until it becomes cheaper, it's sad, I really do not care about this release whatsoever.

Even the Bluray + DVD + CD pack from CMDistro was priced fairly, I thought. $22.

Though there's shipping involved I'm sure.
