Meh, once you're splitting sub genres to that level, it's just trivial classification that serves little purpose. Same goes for music.

I think it serves a certain purpose, but mainly among the readers of such a genre.  Lets say for maybe conversational purposes or when recommending a specific type of fantasy book. Out of that list, naturally I prefer epic fantasy and even dark fantasy.  Now if i asked someone to recommend a good fantasy book and only gave that description to them, they might recommend a vampiric fantasy book or a Arthurian fantasy book, so the further dividing of the genre helps, but like I aside above, it only really means something to those types of fans.

You don't need all dem sub-genres to discuss a topic. Obviously I consider high fantasy like LOTR to be a pretty major distinction from a lot of modern fantasy, but a lot of those sub-genres are just making up categories for the heck of it.

Alrighty then!

There are apparently a whole bunch of police and ambulances a couple of streets away, and there was a helicopter flying really close overhead a few minutes ago. I don't know what's going on, but hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Morning peeps.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

My dog has found a new spot to chill, on my shoulder when I'm on the couch. Lucky for her she weighs only 3 pounds .

Not sure I could live with a dog that small.  I would be afraid I would break it.

Plus, small dogs tend to be hyper, and loud.  Not qualities I look for in a dog.

I felt the same way, I grew up with big dogs all my life but my girlfriend kept saying she wanted to get a small dog for our apartment. I buckled. No regrets, I have never had a dog behave as well as her.

We got her at 8 weeks old. She has never barked at anyone or anything except our cat when she wants to play. She is already house trained and hasn't had an accident in 2 weeks and is incredibly friendly. She is only hyper in the morning and when I come home from work, the rest of the time she is calm.

I know we got incredibly lucky with her and her good behavior. She is teething and has only chewed on one thing which was a phone cord, now she just chews on her toys.

I felt the same way.  The alarm went off and it was a struggle.

It's getting worse for me every day. I spent a year at a coporate company and hated it. I started this new job two months ago (different coporate company) and thought it wouldn't be as bad, but I'm starting to think it is. It's a better fit for me, but I still don't like it. I absolutely hate the office setting. Dressing up everyday, getting hounded over arbitrary formatting of documents, the non-stop golf talk (and I like golf), the 100% seriousness all the time, etc... I get that that's the type of environment that pays well, but it's fucking miserable, at least to me. I actually enjoyed slaving away in a kitchen and dealing with asshole customers way more than this. At least I could blast music, drop F-bombs at will, and had an opportunity to make work fun.

I look at my girlfriend's family members. Her father and her uncles all own paving companies. Sure it's tough manual labor, but most of them are living in a 4000+ square foot house, can take a vacation whenever the hell they want (I guess I can too technically), and don't have to answer to anyone but themselves. Not to mention, I'm sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours a day and spend another 2 hours a day in the car. My heart is probably taking a beating. At least in a manual labor job like that, you're likely to be pretty fit going into your retirement years.

But the problem is, everything I love doesn't really pay. I couldn't afford my living situation now let alone where I'd like to be in 15 years time. I like helping people, the Earth, animals, and astronomy. Not a whole lot of big money making opportunities there.

It's tough but in all honesty unless you have the capitol to start something you personally want to do, all jobs suck.  Now that you have a mortgage, you are stuck with work because of your house.

True. But even prior to home ownership (I worked at that first place for 9 months before buying the house), it was the same situation. I needed to get out of my parents' house and having to pay for an apartment or condo would have resulted in the same conundrum. The big problem was that I went to college to get a degree that would earn me money (and it does) instead of persuing the stuff I'm really passionate about.
