Do you like Dream Theater?

A deceptively easy question.

Inspired by glaurung's comment about all the easy polls, and my now having been here for almost three years.  I don't really consider myself a *fan* anymore per se, but I definitely still like Dream Theater.  After having listened to them for almost five years, obviously my opinion was going to change over time.  What about you guys, especially the seasoned DT fans?  Do you, after all these years, still like Dream Theater?

Noobs are welcome to share their opinions as well.

They're currently my favourite band, having overtaken Metallica for me very recently. However I'm sure I'll do what I did with Metallica and burn out on them sooner or later, as I've been on a bit of a DT binge recently having just got all of their albums finally. But at the minute, my favourite band.

I think you should have more options between "My favourite band" and "I like them". There would be plenty of people who really love them without them being their favourite band.

I felt tempted to vote "Kevin Moore?" but finally voted on the first option. I believe the poll needs a "one of my all-time favourite bands" option, though. I can't say they're the one and only favourite band, because they're one of the four bands I'm a great fan of (<- this is pretty funny if misread, actually...). But definitely one of those four all-time favourites.

I've been a DT fan for 6 years or so, and they're still my favorite band (although they have been recieving some more competition as of late), and I think I'll 'like' them for many years to come.

Seriously, best band ever, and I authentically believe that. They're my favourite anyway. And their newer stuff feels more like my music than the older stuff, they're right in line with my tastes. I've got other musical loves, but Dream Theater are kind of "that band" for me. They're my band.

been a fan since Images, and my love for them has only continued to grow.  I admit that I had a short affair with a few other bands when SC came out, but I repented and came back shortly after

Its hard to describe, but I feel Dream Theater will always be in my top 5, but never fully take over.
They are brilliant, and their songs have a perfection to them that no other band can match, but there is so much music out there to love I could never in good concience say DT is my only all-time fav.

Needless to say though, they are amazing, studio and live, and I'm a fan for life.

One of my all-time favorites.  Heard Scenes, got hooked, proceeded to buy all albums.  Disappointed by ToT and SC, but BC&SL reminds me why I love these guys.  So do Images, most of Awake, FII, Scenes, 6DoiT, WDADU, and Octavarium, for that matter.

And yeah, DT are pretty solid.  Even though I can be critical of some of their recent output, I still anticipate their new releases probably more than any other band.  One of my all-time favorites.

Let me put it this way:

WDADU - Awake = One of my favorite bands.
FII - SDOIT = They're okay.
8VM = Nostalgic for me, but mostly bad.
All others =   (i.e. As I Am)   (i.e. Prophets of War)   (i.e. TDEN)   (i.e. Rap section in ANTR)   (i.e. Instrumental section of Constant Motion)

Ok, random question to ask in the first place, plus pretty random options. Why are "Favourite band" and "Favourite all-time band" different?

Anyway I went with one of my favourites. They've been a top 10 band for me for years.

I loved Metallica for so long, and then I got into DT and my favorite band changed, but now, in the light of seeing a couple bands lately, all 10x better live than DT, it forced me to re-check them out an they are climbing, so I have to go with one of my all time favorites.

I voted one of my all-time favorite bands because I do consider them my favorite band but I haven't been in the mood to listen to them for a month or two.
