Just wondering how I'm going to recognise you all at the NYC meet-up. Do I just wander around looking for Alex Lifes-- uh, Stadler? I think he's possibly the only person I might recognise from various photos.

Just don't do what Glasser did in CT.

Quote from: Glasser on March 16, 2025, 07:58:07 PMI have to tell/admit this: before the show started I was asking everyone I walked by if they were DTFers, like a crackhead. I got some interesting responses and looks but it didn't phase me. I was saying "any DTF'ers" as I walked past small groups of people of fogey age asking and hoping, which was a lot haha! I even muttered "Glasser here" walking around. No luck. No shame here. I really wanted to meet you guys there.

I guess we will all be introducing ourselves as our names with a "I'm blablabla from the forum" lol

You're not alone. I've only been officially a member of the forum for a couple years so I don't know how anyone looks. Lol

Stadler

Once I decide what I'm going to wear (dependent on weather, not fashion!!!) I'll post it.  I certainly hope you DO come up and say hello.  That's the main attraction for me on this show; I can't wait to put faces and a firm handshake/fist bump to the names.

I missed this - could be funny walking around NYC asking if people are DTF

Based on my experience in NYC, one, it won't be the most insane thing that people are walking around asking under their breath, and two, I have no doubt it won't take more than a block or two to get a positive response.  You might not WANT that positive response, but you'll get it!  :) :) :) :) :) :)

If it's like the Philly meet up, the host was like "are you from the forums or facebook?" when I walked in, I said forums and he showed me to where the forum folks were hanging  :lol  where I recognized some but not others, but we all said who we were and good times were had.

I'm still going to try and get into the city before the official meet up and see where people are at.

I'm not hard to recognize.

Adami

Just look for a bunch of socially awkward nerds. Doesn't matter which one is which. You can call Stadler Cram or Hunnus. It's all good.

Edit: I'll be the out of shape middle aged dude. I hope that helps.

Get in touch.  I'm shooting to be in NYC by 1:00, 2:00.  I'm not sitting in my car until the meetup. :) :) :) :)

This is like saying "I'll be the teenage girl in sequins at the Taylor Swift show".

Cool Chris

Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

Where are you planning to be? I'm planning on making it to the area around 2

Progmaniac1988

I'm sure we will all figure it out... lol I'll be the stud in my mid 30's, long haired short hairy Italian with the fantastic beard. We need Chris Tucker there saying "all y'all look alike!" 😂

Open to that; probably drop my car at 3rd and 45th (my hotel) and play it from there.

Exactly.

And there you go. Stadler will be the young Liam Hemsworth looking dude in sequins and a Taylor Swift shirt.

If I saw any man standing by himself in a Taylor Swift t-shirt, I'd assume the worst and give him plenty of space! ;D

brakkum

I will be the overweight bald dude wearing the tie-dye DT shirt (ok that might not narrow it down)

Stadler

I may wear a T-Swift shirt just because.  :) :) :)

Maybe a T-Swift belly shirt.

Long-haired, short-arsed (although I'll be cheatin' with the boots I'm wearing), British bloke. Early 50s. Pleased to meet your acquaintance.

Am now installed in a Heathrow hotel ready for an early flight tomorrow. Should be arriving early afternoon. Here we go! :metal

Adami

Glad the bulk of you nerds have long hair. It'll make my bald head stand out more.

If I recall correctly, when we met up a few years back in CT (was it for TA tour?) you had never met any forumers.

I'm hoping to make it to the meet up. I'm a female, so that should narrow it down. :P

Progmaniac1988

All you crome domes fret not, I'll be probably joining you soon. My hair line ain't what it used to be! 😂

If you see me tonight in DC...

...you didn't.  :lol

Also, this'll be my first DT concert, and second time seeing Petrucci/Portnoy (caught their show in DC a few years back).

Can't wait to finally experience seeing my 2nd favorite band live!

Metro

If anyone sees a guy with a sloth t-shirt walking around at the show tonight feel free to say hi.

Really loudly, yell, "YO!  PAULIE!"  I promise I'll respond.

I did that to a bunch of people at the Met this afternoon.  Did not go well.

No, no, no...that'll be me.

Seriously, though, I'll probably have on a Caress of Steel t-shirt.

Intermission time. Holy crap, what a show so far. I haven't paid much attention to the set list since the beginning of the tour, so I'm loving the tags! Won't say anything beyond that in case this is a spoiler free thread, but for my first DT show, I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far from my vip couch seat! (Other than one tall guy who was standing in front of us for the ENTIRE first set... >.> )
