My best shot at a tour master list for DT40

1.   New Album Track #1
2.   Transcending Time
3.   Room 137 / S2N (alternating)
4.   The Gift of Music / Moment of Betrayal (alternating)
5.   Behind the Veil / Surrender to Reason (alternating)
6.   Far From Heaven
7.   Wither
8.   In the Presence of Enemies – Part II
---------------------------------------------------------------------
9.   Octavarium
10.   Stream of Consciousness
11.   Misunderstood / The Great Debate / Disappear (alternating)
12.   Fatal Tragedy / Home / The Spirit Carries On (alternating)
13.   Peruvian Skies / Burning My Soul / Cover My Eyes (alternating)
14.   Erotomania
15.   Pull Me Under
16.   Only a Matter of Time
---------------------------------------------------------------------
17.   The Best of Times

Hits all albums/eras
Has a soft section in the first half and two instrumentals in the second half to give James a bit of a rest
Has some rarities/never played songs
Has the hit song Pull Me Under from 1992's Images and Words!!
Has SOME alternating songs, so as to not be super predictable, but not a crazy amount
Not bad although there's a few things that would be different *if* this was the pattern they went with. I'd expect them to feature at least a couple tracks from the new album to open up the show. I'd also expect that the IaW slot would rotate with other favorites, especially Metropolis. Since it sounds like the closing track will be an epic or mini-epic, I would expect that to close out the main set or the encore and if it closed out the main show, then they would encore with a fan favorite; I don't see TBoT getting an airing expect maybe for the very last show they do as a band, as I think it would be difficult for MP to get through. And if they include OaMoT I personally hope they tag the instrumental half of March of the Tyrant (from the Majesty demos) on as they did in 1993. Plus, depending on the selected tracks as well as curfew times, I could see some albums getting skipped over from show to show. Otherwise, that looks pretty good.  :tup

ITPOE Part II and Octavarium back-to-back would be something to dream of, god damn.

Though the problem with putting Octavarium in the middle of the set is that it's guaranteed to be downhill from there.

Yeah, you're definitely right that they'll probably play more than one song from DT16 and DT2. The March of the Tyrant tag would be kind of insane to see haha (really, anything off TMD would be!)

Setlist Scotty

Just as a fun reference, quite some time ago, a buddy of mine made a "super set" of everything that DT played on their 20th Anniversary tour, and I thought I'd share it here:

Another Won
A Fortune In Lies
Afterlife
Pull Me Under
Take The Time
Metropolis Pt.1
Under A Glass Moon
Wait For Sleep
Learning To Live
Caught In A Web
Innocence Faded
The Mirror
Lie
Raise The Knife
Speak To Me
Peruvian Skies
Just Let Me Breathe
Strange Deja-Vu
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Home
The Spirit Carries On
The Glass Prison
Overture
About To Crash
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
Goodnight Kiss
Solitary Shell
About To Crash (reprise)
Losing Time/ Grand Finale
As I Am
This Dying Soul
Endless Sacrifice
Honor Thy Father
In The Name Of God
The Root Of All Evil
The Answer Lies Within
These Walls
I Walk Beside You
Panic Attack
Never Enough
Sacrificed Sons
Octavarium
Cemetery Gates
Highway Star
Sheep
Time

I don't believe there will be as many songs in the master setlist this time around, and it's almost a given that there won't be any cover tunes, but it's cool to see what they did almost 20 years ago, and it may give us at least a little idea of how MP might put the master setlist (from which each individual setlist is created) for the upcoming tour together. Or not.   :lol

Yeah, it's not bad.  But it's also not in any way what this thread asked for.  Since Chino did a great job of tallying the results from those who actually chose to follow instructions, and since few people actually seem willing to follow the instructions, I'll probably just close it soon.  But as far as set list speculation, that can be done in the tour thread (I posted a possible set list there a few minutes ago).

Ah, OK.  I hadn't picked up on that.  That's certainly different than the many who just flat out ignored what the thread is supposed to be about.  That makes sense.

Not sure if suggestions are still being taken, but this would my list.

1.  The Glass Prison
2.  Fatal Tragedy
3.  Panic Attack
4.  6:00
5.  Outcry
6.  Under A Glass Moon
7.  Barstool Warrior
8.  Lines In The Sand
9.  Constant Motion
10. The Dance Of Eternity

Stupid me. Haha.

I think FII is a great album and want to hear songs from it
It actually would make the tour even more special to play those songs.

We all like what we like, but I'd be shocked if any album (other than the new one) gets three songs in the set list - especially if 5 of the 7 most recent albums are ignored.

For the love of Kevin Moore, please, no (although I'd be thrilled to have S2N and Misunderstood and wouldn't mind BMS).   :)

I know, right?   "Cover My Eyes" is to "Burning My Soul" as a gold and diamond ring is to one of those sour candy rings.

I mean...I'd be totally fine for them to play BMS at the LA show and CME in NY/New England (although, frankly, I'd MUCH prefer Hollow Years, Anna Lee or YNM (not YOM)).

OpenYourEyes311

I'm with Stads, love me some CME... one of the best songs of the FII sessions!

The Curious Orange

Part of me is kind of hoping that the new album won't be released until Feb 2025-ish, and this European tour will feature the first single and a "greatest hits" setlist, with the 2025 leg being the tour for the new album, kind of like they did on the ADTOE tour where
they just played OTBOA on the first leg.

Songs I'd love to see:

The Killing Hand
Learning to Live
Erotomania/Voices/Silent Man
Peruvian Skies
Lines In The Sand
The Spirit Carries On
The Glass Prison
Blind Faith
Honor They Father
Sacrificed Sons
Pale Blue Dot

MirrorMask

Ok I caved in and I tried to compile a chronological setlist, trying to balance time  and James' endurance:

01. Pull Me Under (yeah, let's drop the bombshell right at the beginning)
02. New Song (we're back with MP and this is how we're gonna go forward, now let's relive 40 years)
03. The Alien
04. At Wit's End
05. Dystopian Overture
06. The Bigger Picture (or The Enemy Inside)
07. Far from Heaven (acoustic)
08. Wither (acoustic)
09. In the Presence of Enemies part II
-------intermission
10. The Root of All Evil
11. Stream of Consciousness
12. Misunderstood
13. Home
14. Peruvian Skies
15. The Silent Man
16. Metropolis part 1
-------encore 1 with dedication to Charlie
17. Afterlife
-------encore 2
18. Octavarium

This is a great set, I would love this (w/ The Bigger Picture).  Wouldn't mind expanding that acoustic set to maybe hit This is the Life, as well.  I was thinking that if they kicked off the first show back w The Glass Prison the place would go nuts (I still feel this would be the most killer way to reintroduce the classic DT lineup).  I can imagine waiting for showtime and seeing the lights go out and then hearing the into tape start playing bell tolls and static . . . goosebumps just thinking about it.

But the PMU suggestion - I think this works too.  Crowds still go nuts for this song, and I'm sure opening night would only enhance that reaction.

MirrorMask

Thanks for the feedback guys! I must admit I created the setlist avoiding the new songs issue first of all 'cause I don't like to randomly give "new song" slots in a set not knowing what a song would sound, and also 'cause without new stuff it was easier to compile the two sets

Yeah- I decided to lean more into "dream setlist" territory and wasn't accounting for JLB's stamina.
I haven't seen him since 2019, I'm not even certain he still has the chops to get through songs like Voices or Glass Moon these days.

You are correct. I didn't even consider it. But, the first song. Think of it. That..Is The Song. That is where they got started to get to here. Imagine A dark, quiet, stage...then that very first note. We will all know, with that one note, what it is. Honestly it's perfect for the vibe!

Normally I'm in the same boat as you w PMU.  But thinking back to DreamSonic in Bridgeport - that was one of the few times during the show that the crowd had a visible pulse.  I've heard it live too many times at this point, but I also cannot deny the reaction the song gets.

A good thing it has going for it is that it's got that hard stop at the end. It's the perfect song to not kill the flow of the setlist while teeing James up with a natural moment to welcome everybody back early on in the set.

I think if they're going that route, it'd be more likely to be Metropolis.
