So, I know we are all having a little fun with the reveals and guesses but are you fairly confident that we will hear our first new DT song with MP on this Friday?

Has anyone make a Metropolis Pt3: Dream Warriors joke yet? Lol

Has someone already mentioned they are doing these teasers in alphabetical order? By that logic, it SHOULD be Portnoy tomorrow and Rudess Thursday. We'll see if they change it up.

That does make sense, but part of me thinks that they'll want to save Portnoy for the last video anyway - and that would still be in alphabetical order if you go by first names. 😁

I am indeed fairly confident. It feels imminent.

I know you must have been asked a thousand times over the years, but for the life of me, I can't remember. What exactly is your association with the band?
He previously headed up DT Norway, the fan club for Norway, but now he heads up DT World, which oversees all the individual chapters of the fan club in different countries.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I wouldn't even know how to find DT World. Is there a website?

I just googled DT Australia out of interest and the fan club for Aus is a facebook thing.  Hasn't been updated since the 14th of August though which is pretty ordinary.

The Aussie fan club hasn't been updated because what is there to even say at this point. "Hey, DT still has no intentions of touring down under at this stage. We'll update you at the end of the tour if there's anything new."

Seems kind of pointless to have a fan club then?  If that's how they work then what's really the point of them? There's no one really generating any discussion or hype within the Aussie fan base. Makes DTF even more valuable.  I guess I'm not really understanding the purpose but I would still think linking these teasers and other news tidbits on a facebook feed regulary, especially during this highly anticipated time would be beneficial to keep it active and try and generate some discussion across the Aus/NZ fan base.  but that's just what I would do.

Quote from: The Letter M on October 07, 2024, 12:31:19 PMWhat about "A Nightmare To Remember"? At over 16 minutes long, it's longer than other songs that fans consider epics, like "Trial Of Tears" (which does have three movements) and "In The Name Of God" (which doesn't have any named movements). I guess that depends on what songs you consider to be DT's "epics".

-Marc.

Totally indeed, non of the above I'll consider to be epics, except Tuscany. But I'm way off topic here.

Never thought I would long to a snap where a guy will open his eyes and look at me. But Rudess is next on my mind.

There used to be a website but last couple times I tried to visit, it appears to be dead/no longer active.

Quote from: pg1067 on October 07, 2024, 09:25:18 AM"Just let me know when the new music is ready" has ALWAYS been my attitude - going back to when I was a teenager and my friends and I would stop at the record store every Tuesday and be happy to find out that one of our favorite bands had released something new.

That's where I'm at. This stuff doesn't bother me, but it's not something I engage in either.

And YES to randomly finding out a band has a new CD out because you saw it at the store. I was pretty checked out on DT, music, and much of life in general in the late 90s. Imagine my surprise when I was at a music store in the early 2000s and found DT had TWO new albums out (SFaM and 6D). That was a good day; single-handedly rekindling my love of music.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

There is, but it appears to be down right now. Kim had told me that he's had some issues with it that need to get sorted out. Here's what it looked like when it was up and running:

The website dies randomly because of memory issues, and I forget to go restart the server. It's up now (dreamtheater.club).

But we also have the discord server, the subreddit and the Facebook group with 150000 members (including Portnoy and Rudess who participate from time to time). And the YouTube for my interviews. And we are closely affiliated with DTF too... add to this the 30+ individual chapters that all do their own thing.

Might be a bit off-topic but as an Aussie who's been a fan for 14-ish years and never seen them live I really hope they make it down here at some point (it will probably be the new album tour by then, but still).

The first 2 times had a chance to see them I couldn't make it due to travel. I was all in to see them in 2020 for the Scenes anniversary but we all know what happened that year.

I'm fairly confident that this friday we'll have substantial info about the new album: title, release date and possibly date of release of the new single. Possibly a tracklist as well.

I'm not 100% sure we'll hear a new song right away. Maybe they'll hype it up, "in two weeks you'll hear the new single".

They would not release a new single just after the start of the tour.

evilasiojr

Pretty confident we get the guys' faces until Wednesday, Thursday we get a small teaser of the single and then Friday whole package: album title, info, single and video clip.

illusionist

Everyone has his opinions, and hopes here.
But for all those who expect a single this Friday, please think a little.
They haven't said anything about the album yet, 8 months after they got together, and even now after its completion.
The secrecy doesn't make sense if we're talking about a bunch of songs, buy it makes a lot of sense if it's a thematic or concept album or however you want to call it.
Do you still believe they are going to give away a song off a concept album?
Does this make sense to you? Listening to a single where in a concept album you have to listen to the whole thing to understand what it's all about?
Highly highly doubt.

noxon

Of course there will be singles! InsideOut typically does 3 singles per album.

illusionist

So if there are going to be singles, as Noxon says, please open a new thread to discuss them, because not everyone here wants to hear them or spoil the surprise of the new album as a whole before its release

What if it's confirmed that it is not a concept album? And also, which person would not want to listen to new DT songs?! (apart from Max :) )

I guess there must be some more members here, but i don't want to hear just some singles out of context.
I want to listen to the whole thing when it comes out, that's the way a new DT album should be experienced in my view.

Fritzinger

I never listen to singles ;)

I always want to hear the new album in total for the first time. It is hard sometimes though... That's why I love to read what people are saying about the new single(s). Yeah, I'm weird.

Highly highly doubt.

Yet that is exactly what they did 25 years ago in the lead up to Scenes from a Memory - everything about the album was super hush hush, but they released a heavily edited, "spoiler free" version of "Home".

So yeah, everything about this makes perfect sense and even gives me a sense of uncanny strange deja vu. 😁 I'm totally ready to hear some new DT music this week if that's what all of this is leading up to.

Myself personally, I would just say how much I like it. Vague details,  No real spoilers, but knowing this forum you're really reaching if you think there won't be spoilers in a few threads lol, I'd definitely stay away from this thread. It's gone all over the place pretty often lol

Hey mate, fingers crossed.  I saw them on the SC tour but was keen on the 2020 tour.  I could gave gone on the Black Clouds tour but couldn't because of work.

I also got a meet and greet ticket in the BC boxset which I still have cause I couldn't go.  So much regret.

this is the third album cycle I'm timelining and in my experience, there have been dedicated threads to whichever singles being released (as well as every piece even in some cases), so don't worry, there will be people on the case.
