Times seem ok... wish there was one more band tbh, make it more of a half day experience. I'm waiting for DTs setlist to buy into this so kind of glad it's not selling well so far (can't go locally cause it's 21+ so will make a road trip with kids out of it, if worthwhile).

I think the one way to make this a success would've been to feature/advertise something like 8V or ACoS in the setlist. Make it an EVENT. Getting Dev onboard (guy is an elite showman, will own these shows imo) is big and I feel an all time DT classic is needed to top it off.

I was thinking about this, and I wonder if they're already retooling the setlist to add stuff they weren't planning on playing, in the hopes that word of mouth will then drive sales.  Lord knows they've had enough time to see the slow sales and be proactive about it.

(yes, yes, I know their shows are multimedia and that requires time and effort to prepare, too, but I could imagine then being all "eff it, we gotta do something other than what we planned" and kick the entire production crew into overdrive, or just accept bare minimum that doesn't look totally bush league)

That's odd for a show like this.

Chicagoland show is at a NWI casino, so it's a hard no to get on premises. While it's very close to my childhood stomping grounds and I'm comfortable with it, it's also on the far away edge of Chicago metro. Like 30mi from the loop and 45mi from ohare airport... shooting themselves in the foot as far as I'm concerned.

Will hit Cedar Rapids if this looks like a good time.

Skeever

I'd actually rather have slightly less DT (like maybe 80 mins) to get another 10 mins of Devin. AAL sounds about right to me.

King Postwhore

My show is coming up fast. 7/2.

Definitely. Probably between Devin and DT. Pretty sure I won't be there early.

Where are your seats? We're in Section 1, Rows S on the aisle on JP's side.

It's set for June 18th.

MrMike

Anyone besides me attending the opening show this Friday?

And for anyone else in the Austin area who is considering going, I have one extra FRONT ROW ticket in front of JP for which I'm asking $100 even (far less than what I paid).  Buddy can't make it.  PM me if interested.

That sounds like a very generous offer, wish I was in Austin to accept.

Nope, but since my show is the last one and I don't feel like waiting, would you be kind to post the setlist. Maybe do it in the concert thread in case others don't want to be spoiled.

gzarruk

I'd say just post it here using small font or something, but please post it :tup

zappafrank2112

Just took a look at the tickets for the 1st date of the tour and although it's not horrible, there's definitely enough open space that imagine free upgrades will be available.

Also looked at my show (Johnstown), and oof, I'd say it a quarter sold at best.

I imagine there will be a separate dedicated thread.

I watched the video in question, and I'm not sure what the issue is.  It was pretty fun and lighthearted, which is what was intended.  I liked it.

Hey we're over here chatting like the 5am sports radio host after football is done, baseball hasn't really started, and basketball and any other sports are irrelevant. Sometimes you just gotta find something to talk about   :lol

Lunchtime Analysis:

CT is selling like dick.

The map on the left was when I bought my tickets back on the morning of 4/13 or whatever day they went on sale. The map on the right was yesterday, 6/1... We'll call it 6 weeks.

The seats on the right that are shaded green are the seats that sold in the last 6 weeks, and the ones in purple are the ones that weren't available on day 1 and now are for whatever reason. The sections I circled in orange, based on grouping and section of the venue, I don't think were purchased by DT fans and could possibly be largely empty come the day of.

That is not many tickets sold in the last 6 weeks. My napkin math, even including orange circles, is 400ish tickets sold in the last 6 weeks. I'm thinking somewhere between 800-1000 tickets are spoken for at this point, in a venue that seats 5700. And I'm betting that most of the seats that weren't available on the day-1 chart on the left weren't even bought by DT fans. Those are probably spoken for regardless of who's performing.

This has some bust potential, I think.

Looking at the chart today compared to the one I posted in his prior post, it doesn't look like any more tickets have been sold. Maybe a hundred or so at best.

The wings immediately to the left and right of the stage look like they've been closed off as well. They're completed blocked out now.

I hope they don't close out the back stands and move everyone up to the floor.  I looked at this venue online, looks like that entire floor is flat.  I'm going to pass sitting there unless I can snag a front row face value ticket the day of sale.  I have no desire to pay the floor prices and not be able to see shit on the flat back of it.  Gladly take the stands and guarantee a view.

I don't think that'll happen. Though, looking at the seating chart, they probably could close the whole outer ring of seats and have no trouble fitting everyone closer.

Here's a view from the stage. I've never been on the floor at this place (I will be this time around), but it looks like there's a slight grade to the seating. The guy directly next to/in front of the stage appears to be standing notably lower than the dude about 10 rows back.

Ah that does look like a slight angle

The floor is flat. This was last year when I saw Tenacious D. About 15 seconds in, I point the camera to the crowd.

THe picture I saw previously was for a GA concert and looked flat, that other picture must be the angles then.  Nice video though, looks like you were close for the D!

Chino

Ugh. That looks like shit.

I'm really starting to regret buying the tickets I did. First time in years I splurged on day one for 'decent' seats.

Nick

Only time I ever got upgraded was for a DT concert. Was at PNC on the Systematic Chaos tour. OzzFest had wrecked the lawn and so they moved everyone with lawn tickets down into the seats.

I wouldn't be surprised by this in some markets, but kinda bummed to see it in CT where DT has traditionally been really strong.

What makes it even more surprising is that it's on a Friday night. If it was a Sunday show, I could make sense of the weak sales.

yeah, I mentioned this a couple weeks ago or something about this show. It had nothing to do with the lawn, it was because it was a couple thousand tickets sold to a 17k venue. I bought my lawn ticket right before walking in and then immediately got upgraded to the ~16th row.

ReaperKK

What do you guys think is the cause of low ticket sales? Price? It being labeled as a "Festival".
