Nothing like closing a concert and sending everyone home with a song about a rape victim and the struggle to have a normal relationship afterwards.

The songs from the first setlist are played hundreds of times and all the songs have i  heard live. Maybe i should just see SFAM then :)

Eeeesh and I thought Tool fans were bad... :P

GasparXR

Well I was hoping for ANTR to be swapped out for more songs from non-SFAM and non-DOT albums but I will still be happy with the setlist, especially with AWE being included now. I personally feel like AWE and PBD should be switched though.

Just got my ticket for the 2nd London show.  Good to see they are playing At Wit's End now.  Really hope they play it at the show.

jadiggerdt

Looking forward to listen to wits end live versjon. :hefdaddy Hopefully someone filmed

Peter Mc

I hope they keep that set and don't mix things up for the two London shows (well I'm only going to the first night so don't really care about the second one!). Really want to hear At Wits End live and see how that guitar solo ends. Some of the stuff in the fade out is incredible and slightly annoys me that it fades out just as Petrucci is doing some amazing stuff, have a similar issue with The Best Of Times and Take The Time.

gmillerdrake

Would have loved to have seen ANTR take a seat for a different song of similar length.

devieira73

Set list improved 👍
One more song (also never or rarely played live or A New Begginning ;D) in the first set and it would be perfect!
But, great setlist!

So is the only change that they swapped the encore?

I bet we get a little bit of rotation from night to night.

They'll most likely rotate Paralyzed and FITL as they did on the previous US run.

So...this is exactly the same set list I saw back in April but with Paralyzed instead of FITL (which they rotated on the first leg) and AWE swapped in for PMU.  Definitely won't be going out to Riverside on a Monday or traveling to the show in Arizona for that.

TAC

Yeah, that's great about AWE, but other than that, the setlist is the same. They're not playing up here anyway.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I hope that we will get both those tunes on the dvd.
I would guess so, seeing as they will film both London concerts, and given that they may implement a rotation... (or bosk may correct me)
All my natural instincts are begging me to stop
But somehow I carry on, heading for the top
A physical absurdity, a tremendous mental game
Helping me understand exactly who I am

Would be killer if they swapped in ITPOE Pt2. It would be awesome to get a profilmed version of that song with better audio quality than Chaos in Motion.

cramx3

I was kind of hoping Peruvian Skies would make it to the US setlist.

gzarruk

I still say that the biggest problem with the setlist is... SFAM. But pretty cool that lots of people are getting to see it performed live in full :tup

Maybe they will take the Paralyzed position in the set and rotate through all the festival songs?

DragonAttack

ANTR and ITPOE.......again?  Six months ago they were played.  What about something different for those of us who saw the last USA leg.
25 minutes that could have had 2-4 other tracks performed.  And...such a short first set.

I'll enjoy it next week, but damn disappointed.

I'll enjoy ANTR and ITPOE Pt. 1 again.

But, This is what the first leg should've been.

I was definitely hoping those festival songs would sneak into the first set in replacement of ANTR, but I was also hoping ANTR would pop back up for the Euro dates when they record the DVD.

Cool Chris

Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

TAC

There's no one part of ANTR that I don't like. I think it's really cool, actually. But it's just too long. I feel like it could accomplish the same effect with 5 less minutes.

"ANTR" could be substituted with the titles of more than a few of DT songs spanning ToT-BCaSL.

It's not a bad song, I enjoyed seeing it live myself with MP in the band. It just needs to go on the shelf for a while, especially with limited time due to the show committing so much time to 1) the new album and 2) Scenes.

NoFred

The trade off for ANTR is ITPOE, I love that song live... they should keep it in the set (but PBD is the new best live) only thought now is pls rotate through a lot of songs in London for the live album.

Volante99

ANTR serves its purpose. I get the feeling DT (as of late) likes a head banger/high energy song for the second track on these album supporting tours. Along for the Ride tour had "Shattered Fortress", DToE tour had "6:00". They haven't played it in awhile, unlike As I Am, Dark Eternal, Constant Motion, and it's fairly easy on James Labrie's voice. It also has the added benefit of being a long heavy song that isn't penned by Portnoy or a part of the 12-Step Suite.

I like the song, but felt it was a bit lengthy for the #2 spot. The crowd was still a bit restless. If I were to swap it out with something I'd probably play Panic Attack which ticks all the same boxes with a shorter runtime.

I'm glad Nightmare is getting a bunch of recognition this year. BCASL hasn't been well represented on live releases, and I think there's FINALLY a chance we might get this song recorded. Very happy for that.

Mladen

Nightmare is a great song and a refreshing addition to the set list, given that it hasn't been performed in 10 years.

Also, there are plenty of really long songs that rarely get played just because of their length. That's a very unfortunate reason to exclude a song from live performances. That's why playing ANTR now makes for example Octavarium's return to the set at some point not that improbable.

This is another leg of the same tour playing places they haven't already visited. No real reason to make changes.
