Ohhhhhh sooooo muuuch HYPE!

Fall Into The Light (Myung) - 7:04

Edit: Awesome artwork! I like that it's very different from Untethered Angel but somehow fits.

Red_Queen

Its tomorrow already ?  :metal
Myung song 7 minute long ? Yes please !

RoeDent

Quite surprised that Fall Into The Light was chosen over Paralyzed. Cool though. At least it means we won't have two consecutive known tracks when the album is released. There'll be some new ground to tread between the two known tracks.

2 is enough for me. I don't want too much of it spoiled before release.

Bertielee

Or you can do like me and just listen when the album is out, not before.

I have been doing that for some years now and it's very rewarding! Haven't heard a single note from the new DT album.

Same here! No way with an album with 9 songs, I'll arrive in February knowing already 2. I'll just have fun seeing the reactions of the others and imaging what the song will sound like.

Mladen

I'll gladly listen to the second single, but if the third one gets released before the album, I'll probably skip it and wait for the whole thing.

mikeyd23

Hyped for the new single! I honestly hope this is the last track they release before the album drops, but it seems like a lot of artists are releasing more than two singles before their albums release.

AboutToCrash

Haken released 3/7 songs before Vector came out.. same label as DT so I'm guessing 3 singles pre-release

noxon

And just to have it said; remember to keep it spoiler free until the americans have had an opportunity to listen as well :)

Probably another one in the first days in the end of February? I can see this happening.

Ben_Jamin

Why did they post this at 5:00 in the morning. Now I have to wait all day in anticipation. Looking forward to this one, by JPs description of it in an interview, it should a rocking track.

rumborak

Total side comment and nothing really to do with DT specifically, but in the age of internet this by-country release of a digital media is really kind of silly. It should just be released at a specific point in time, e.g. 6pm GMT.

noxon

Regarding third single - JP has already revealed in interviews that they're making a video for Paralyzed.

That's actually what they do. They say "release it on the 11th of january 2019". No "by country" rule. It's just that it becomes 11th of january earlier in Oz ;)

rumborak

That's what I mean though. When you only say the date, it becomes country-specific, since different countries have a new day at different times.

erwinrafael

I think artists nowadays earn more from streaming in Spotify and Youtube compared to incremental sales of purists who would not bother to buy the album because they get turned off by the early release of 1/3 of the album.

noxon

But technically it's easier to say "stream it 11th january" than "stream it at this specific point in time which is relative to another point in time"

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!   >:( >:( >:(

It has been almost 7 hours since that artwork was posted!  How is it that nobody has posted similar artwork from another band and complained about DT using stock images yet?  You guys are off your game!  smh

:lol

I actually refrained from posting a comment like "can't wait to see which other obscure band used previously the stock image found by Hugh Syme" 'cause I thought it was unnecessarly mean

But seriously, it's a pretty nice cover, inspired a great depth and emotion for the song.

Good choice of colors and doesn't look like a cheap collage.  :tup  :metal

Just reminding how JP describe FITL :
Let's talk about some of that music. The first song I heard, "Fall Into the Light," is pretty aggressive right out of the gate. The opening instrumental section is very Metallica-esque.
"Fall Into the Light" is an example of a very guitar-riff-driven song on the album. And there's a few of them. This one actually three components. One is that opening riff, which I came up with backstage when I was on the G3 tour. I had my signature Mesa Boogie [the JP-2C] with me, I dialed in a really heavy sound and that riff came out. I took out my iPhone and I recorded it and labeled it, like, "Cool Riff in E" [laughs]. And that sparked the Metallica-esque style of the song. Then there's some faster passages that are very riff-y and right-hand-heavy, and the third component is the mellow section in the middle, which gets sort of orchestral and very melodic. That was something that I had written in my basement on an acoustic guitar. I think I called it "Cowboy Section" because it has a Western-y vibe. So "Fall Into the Light" was a case where I brought these parts into the studio and then we put it together as a band. And it's a really fun song to play, especially for me because it's very riff-driven metal.

bosk1

Given how heavy and riffy the stuff he was playing on G3 was, the fact that he came up with it on that tour while he was in that mindset tells me that it probably IS pretty heavy.

Really looking forward to hearing the song even more now, that description sounds pretty cool.

erwinrafael

OMG, that riff!

Hmmm...chances are if you don't like Untethered Angel, you won't like this one much. It really has the same vibe.

erwinrafael

Fall Into the Light's already available in iTunes as well! Now listening back to back with Untethered Angel.  :metal
