On my sixth listen already. It's like Metallica on steroids.

Egad that sounds miserable. Have not heard yet.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

They published the riff on their FB page - so far I'm unimpressed, just a 3 note riff in minor
Since this album is riff driven, I hope the other riffs are much darker (having lot of flatted notes like flat 2nd and 5th, instead of basic minor).

That's not the main riff. ;)

Good to hear. Wasn't a bad riff, just didn't grab me. Probably need to hear it in context.

Video is already not available anymore, and if it was, and if this would have been the real song, I'm not sure if you should be posting it here...

Edit, I just saw that apparently the video is only not available in my country.

purzel

maybe you are right. but it's gone anyway and I didn't released it on YouTube but maybe you are right.

Re. a third DT single: Distance Over Time is at least 13 minutes longer than Vector, and one of Vector's tracks is just an intro, where there isn't that sort of track on D/T. So it doesn't quite feel like we've heard half the album before release, unlike with Vector. There's still a decent amount that will be new when the album comes out.

Also, isn't it a bit unfair that people seem to be freely discussing it while the song's not available in many parts of the world? Maybe we ought to wait until at least midnight EST to discuss it.

bosk1

I just ate.  Can you not mention Vector in here, please?

And, yes, there should be no discussion of the song yet.

Wow, and I thought you were a cool guy.

What's the point of not being allowed to discuss the song before USA gets it? It's officially released in some parts and people have heard it. If it's about the USA people not wanting to get spoiled, then a separate thread could be made and they wouldn't be forcefully made to read the posts

I don't know why that cover makes me think of TMOLS.

Not sure why, the picture is clearly situated in the middle of that body of water.

Yeah, +1 for separate thread.

Ben_Jamin

If I don't want Spoilers and I know the song is being released soon, I just won't look at the thread. Its only a day.

I got excited when I heard that Teaser video posted on the band page.

I personally don't care, I'll hear it soon enough that I don't feel people's comments are spoiling anything really.  But that's just me, it's the rules so I guess just got to stick with it.  There was a separate thread for Untethered Angel so maybe that's a good idea.

It really pisses me off that with the internet stuff is still released by region and time. Just dump whatever it is. If it's 2AM somewhere else, so be it. Once it's released somewhere, it should be available everywhere. Releasing a single in one region of the world hours before another is not going to have any impact on album sales or profits. Seems kind of dumb. Maybe I just don't understand it.

I agree, its the same as everyone getting the album at different times.  some will get it hours or days before others and they'll be talking about it.

What's more annoying is that it gets released at midnight which is fairly inconvenient for anyone in that location.  Like if you release it at 5PM (whatever time zone) then at least the people in that time zone or near it can all listen to it without having to be up late or wake up early or whatever.  Releasing it at midnight in every region means it's inconvenient for almost everyone besides the night owls.

I stayed up till midnight for Untethered Angel, I may or may not stay up till midngiht for this.  I definitely want to listen but I may just rather go to bed at a normal time.

thunderdog10

even if not released in USA on streaming services until tomorrow why can't DT just release a lyric video on youtube for everyone to hear at the same time?

FTFY. I don't think the band have any REAL control over the promotion of the album, especially since they just signed to InsideOut. It seems that this is pretty much how IO are treating DT, and it does seem to be causing some issues.

I definitely think it has the undesired effect of egging people on to get a hold of the music through unsavory ways. The DT Reddit sub is littered with "please PM me the track" requests to people in Australia.

People have no time for music anymore.... and neither for patience  :D

I mean, I completely understand the desire for new music, and when the album will be finally out, I'll buy it on release date, luckily I have a couple of stores nearby at work so I can buy it during lunch break... but geez, in this case, it's just a few hours. We'll have the rest of our lives to listen to the album. What a few hours or a day of difference really make? like those people lining up at midnight to buy a new book from a store, I don't get it. Maybe it's the social aspect of it, it's a meet up with other fans of something you like, but you have the rest of your life to read and re-read the book, what's a day of difference?

InsideOut is a record company, what did you expect? It's what record companies do. They annoy people.

Fair enough, but how are they maximizing the exposure of the band by the releases coming at midnight?

SeRoX

Just one thing; I think whoever mix'd the vocals has a grudge to DT. And I can't wait to hear it live THAT FUCKING MIDDLE SECTION in the concert.
