Everyone is talking about "The Astonishing" and while I love that, I'm also thinking about their entire catalog. Just curious about which act is preferred. This album is universally acclaimed and lots of songs stand out. I would go for Act II.

There's probably already another thread for this, but I'm not entirely sure.

We can only select up to two options? Well, what kind of shit is that?

I can't decide - both Acts have things I love and things I don't care much about.
I just wanted to tell you what a cool avatar you have, jjfumbly!

Crow

all of my favorite tracks are in act 2, and one of my least favorite DT songs is in act 1

this is not hard

...so naturally the poll is currently completely wrong  :lol
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

Haha yeah. First poll I've made and I screwed it up a bit.

Thanks haha. Who doesn't love Prison Mike?

The album is perfect, so I guess I'll vote for both. But if I had to choose, I'd go act 1 because it's such an awesome energetic start to the album.

Outcrier

Act 1 because of Strange Deja Vu, Fatal Tragedy and Beyond this Life.

TheCountOfNYC

Act 2 has Home, The Dance of Eternity, and The Spirit Carries On so I would definitely have to go with that.

Destiny Of Chaos

legenden1

Act 2 because of the holy trinity One last time/The Spirit Carries on/Finally free but the album is stunning all the way through

Ask what Act is the better one, let people vote for both

I took it effectively as the "they're equally good" option.

As I voted for the coward's option, I highly endorse it. :lol

I went with both as I love this from start to finish... ???

As the new guy around here, having only heard SFAM for the first time two weeks ago, I am currently in the process of getting to know this album. Having played it through three or four times, there are some fairly instantly accessible sections. Equally, I'm like woah, this instrumental bit is going on a loooonnng time, am I ever going to get into this? I will persist, and I'm sure it'll be worth it. Act 2 so far, but I'm not yet really qualified to vote.

This is really tough.

On the one hand, my two, maybe three, individual favorite songs from Scenes are from Act II (Home, The Spirit Carries On and maybe Finally Free).

But, on the other hand, the flow of Act I is just so freaking awesome.  Act I is quite literally flawless, while Act II has The Dance of Eternity, which is good, but gets a bit ponderous near the end.

I'll go with Act I, but it's oh so close.
