I wouldn't worry about that. :)

This is The Life & The Answer Lies Within are two of my favourite DT songs.

He said AFTR, not TALW, although it makes little difference to me either way.

Kotowboy

Yeah I really don't like Along For The Ride :lol

It could be a better song if the drums weren't so muddy and thumpy.

MustActFastToCoverUp

Indeed, none of the three (or the other ones mentioned by jsbru) are favourites of mine. Seems like I'm not so much the balladesque kind of guy.
Metal!! :metal

Kotowboy

I could never listen to the same music day in, day out. It would be so boring. And you would only write music like that, so what's the point.

funny you should mention that track...

I suppose that "The Hymn of a Thousand Voices" is quite similar to the PF track...

Anyone worried about short songs not producing any epic feelings should listen to Ayreon's Theory of Everything.

There's plenty of epic moments there, and the songs average about 4 minutes.

Personally, I'm most excited about the recurring themes throughout. I'm a big musical theater nerd and I love when that stuff happens.

My god, where is clock guy? this is getting so boring, waiting for a week to get a bad photoshopped character, again, and nothing else  :-\

Hate the mix, but my favorite song on that album overall.

Regarding the Places tab, if you look at the Deluxe TA box set and vinyl Boxset on the DT store you can see what appears to be postcards of some settings. I think that's what it will end up being. Just hope there's some descriptions too!

Considering overture is instrumental - nope ;)

But there IS a military march with a strong multivoiced choir singing the lyrics, asking a question...

They're ballpark, but they're mostly wrong.

This is what happens when you rely on sneaky pie charts.

Pfft. nothing else...

So is there anything happening today, or will this mystery thing be happening towards the end of the week?

Come on teo, TGOM is 4:07 anyway.

Last 7 seconds could be a fade to The Answer.

 We've had this already. It's like Groundhog Day in this thread.

ResultsMayVary

This is not uncommon for DTF, mind you. Shit goes full circle in every thread or we end up at Kevin Moore.

Funny thing about bring the boys back home:

That's funny, I saw that link on Facebook before coming to this thread, and the first post I saw was about Bring the Boys Back Home. :lol

Bring The Boys Back Home from PF has what? 1-2 minutes? And it's pretty fu***** epic!!!11

When I was back home for the holidays, I just found this CD in my parents basement.  I don't listen to CDs much anymore at all (just use Spotify), but I listened to it multiple times on the way home, and this is definitely an epic part of the album.  It's amazing what they pack into 1:21.  But the two mini-tracks before it are excellent, too.

jsbru

Also, I do want to clarify, I still do like TITL very much despite its borderline sappiness.  Same with AFTR.  And I really like Another Day--but I didn't mention it as an earlier example because it gets a little sappy, too.

I think it might be one of the hardest things to do in rock music...to write slower songs that don't sound sappy.  Pink Floyd was really good at it.

Ben_Jamin

Damn, this month is going pretty quick. Before you know it we'll be talking about The Astonishing in its 100 page thread.

I'm really excited about this album. Being a rock opera and all really sweetens the deal and TGoM confirms my excitement. I'm looking forward to the choir and brass sections and the organicness of the instruments.

Kotowboy

Looking forward to the nicest sounding DT album since Octavarium.
