Greetings Dream Theater fan!

It is with a tear in the eye that I am announcing that Dream Theater's time has come. Due to personnal discords that happened in the last three days, we have chosen to leave all of this behind and search for a better life. That means that all the project we had planned, such as the new album realease and the following tour have been put to rest. We are all deeply sorry if you feel betrayed, but don't lose faith. I have hope that an astonishing new beginning is waiting all of us!

So from the whole band, I give you all our last farewell!

Thank you to you all!

RaiseTheKnife

Mike Portnoy to perform as the NoMacs in the North American stage show?

EDIT:  But seriously, in addition to tour dates, it sounds like there might also be a simulcast of some sort -- "remind you to tune in."

IF this is The Announcement, I will completely loose my mind entirely!

This album is just about the only think I am looking forward too ...

Live stream?
Is this going to be another hour long discussion from Jordan, about what hair conditioner he uses? And how he gets his hair so silky smooth?

That's it!!!

The Astonishing tour will be sponsored by [insert hair conditioner here].

Darkstarshades

Shut up, beards as supreme, majestic and mighty as that require a lot of care.

Maybe the announcement is them announcing when they will be making the big announcement?

If it's tour dates, I hope they play in St. Louis.  They haven't played here for years, and we have this as far as theaters go:

if they do, it'll be hilarious that they only come once i've moved to seattle  :lol
but yeah it's kind of weird, they haven't come here in at least the last decade
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

The fact that the only mention of the JR video announcement is on the tour page of the DT website is another sign that it's probably going to be tour dates.

Paintbox

Maybe they are going to tell us where is the concert going to be recorded? I can't think of something so important to need a special announcement, maybe a reunion (with Moore? James twitting him, Jordan making the announcement...) This would be a great announcement, but obviously unlikely
Edit: maybe they are just reserving something special for the US, maybe having something to do with the Northern Empire and the Ravenskill

I'm sorry bro, but that happen ONLY in Venezuela with Nicolas Maduro...
(it's true i'm not even joking)

They've already made an announcement telling us when they are going to make an announcement.  I'm hoping Bosk's "hint" means that it won't be tour dates as that would be pretty lame.  It would obviously be important to announce the tour dates but surely we don't need 24 hours of secrecy in the build up to it, they could just have said US tour dates will be up tommorrow or just waited until today and announced the dates.

Hopefully something more exciting.

AboutToCrash

Has the band ever announced something via live stream before?

Perhaps it is a live stream of them playing a new song? :)

Train of Naught

You know JR is doing the announcement right? Unless you're implying a JR solo song of 1 or 2 minutes, like one of the NOMAC songs.

erciccio

Uhmm...some options
1) US tour dates
2) Jordan playing live a NOMACS song
3) Jordan announcing the new single
4) Jordan announcing this is going to be his last DT tour, given that he is soon turning the 6x page
5) An ASTONISHING surprise
6) None of the above

Cyclopssss

Jordan is announcing he is now, offically, A WIZZARD. 'yes, got the hat!'

Jordan announces his new solo-cd and is touring it SIMULTANIOUSLY! Via the intarwebb!

Jordan has finally cloned himself!  :corn

emtee

Some of those Facebook comments are hilarious! Nice to get a good chuckle early in the morning.

I envision a life size Nomac beside Jordan during the big announcement.

The Paddies

Perhaps DT will announce a guest choir and string ensemble for the whole tour. Jordan is the guy who seems to be most involved in that department and thus the right person to make this public. That's my guess anyways.

Maybe it's a live in-studio performance of the entire opus with full orchestra and choir, who knows

This!  Not the whole thing, but even just a few songs.  I wanted them to do this with DT12.  I love session/in-studio performances.

Yesmaestro

Could it be a contest for something? Like what they did for Lost Not Forgotten.

RoDT

Jordan is announcing he's growing his hair back. They really are taking seriously going back to their (hair) roots.  :metal

I don't think there's much to grow back at this point :lol

Only 2 and a half hours to go  :metal I'm hoping it is something other than a NA tour announcement, but at this point, all signs seem to be pointing to exactly that.

The Paddies

Another option: a (few) pre listening evening(s) in North America of some sorts. Perhaps with live renditions of a few songs.

SquareEnix is putting on hold the release of Final Fantasy VII & Kingdom Hearts III to develop the new epic adventure RPG "The Astonishing". Like no game ever before, "The Astonishing" promises endless hours of fun while you free this nation of its lack of music!

:lol

I was just thinking along the lines of: Bethesda Studios announces that during the past 2 years they have been collaborating with John Petrucci in making a total conversion project for Skyrim set in the world of "The Astonishing."

Shadow2222

Well, there is a new event on their Facebook page showing a concert in Albany, New York on April 18, and I actually saw while browsing that a venue in Greensburg, PA already posted that Dream Theater will be there on April 26.

Don't twist what I said.  I never gave any "hint."  I have no idea what is going to be announced.
