They go in and out of my top 10 for the day just as much as any other albums. Usually The Count of Tuscany, Lost Not Forgotten, Outcry, Bridges in the Sky, Breaking All Illusions, Surrender to Reason, or Illumination Theory.

TCOT isn't from 2010 onwards... ;)

aprilethereal

I only have my top 6 really figured out, but BITS is either #7 or #8. BAI and maybe also IT would make my top 20, but I'm not sure where exactly they would end up in the rankings.

Sycsa

I don't have a top 10 set in stone, but IT and BAI are definitely strong candidates.

Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

YtseJamittaja

Though call but I could say LNF and Enemy Inside. Not maybe the obvious ones!

Evermind

Two or three, I'm not sure now. TITL is my #7, BAI is my #9 and depending on my mood either BTS or Wait For Sleep can be at #10.

I don't know if it's a bad thing (it probably is!), but there are also two songs from 2010 onwards that made it to my top 10 least favourite DT tunes.
Quote from: Train of Naught on May 28, 2020, 10:57:25 PMThis first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

DreamerTV

I do not have, or never thought about, a top 10, nor any kind of DT song ranking. But i'm sure BAI, The Bigger Picture and IT to be 3 of the most beautiful songs they've ever written, IMHO of course.

Lol whoa whoops! That's funny I don't think I've made a mistake like that in a LONG time  :lol

...but why does it say 2010 and not just 2011?? Just for Raw Dog?

wasteland

I was originally going with "Mangini Era" but then went for 2010, the year he joined, to keep the focus away from MM, as I was trying to minimize the chances of the discussion strayint from the original question.

TAC

I'm not sure if BAI is in my Top 10, but it's definitely in the Top 15.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

mikeyd23

I voted 2. BAI and IT both would probably crack my top 10 at this moment.

Skeever

Probably none, but most from dramatic turn would be in the top 20-30

Laughingplace56

Bridges in the Sky #5
Illumination Theory #6

I've begun to appreciate BAI a lot more, especially after seeing it live, but it still doesn't make the top 10. That, along with Outcry, StR, and TBP would make my top 25 though.

Enemy Inside is awesome and has "aged" (it's really not old at all but still) extremely well for me. I'm not sure I would put any songs into my top 10 but EI, BITS and TBP are all pretty close.

I think one thing to keep in mind is that with the number of records they've put out, Top 10 is really a very exclusive and arbitrary boundary. I would probably like songs ranked 10-6 pretty equally, and have a few more to sneak in there if I could.

Stadler

This Is The Life is the only one, and by the skin of it's chinny chin chin.

RedKlouD72

I just ranked all the DT songs within my Windows Media Player in order to answer this. I think it took an hour.
And I have two songs from the Mangini era of 2010 and onward in my top 10.
They happen to round out my top 10.

Outcry at #9
Illumination Theory at #10

Crow

Breaking All Illusions is the only song even post-2005 in my top 10.
turns out signatures are fundamentally broken now so here's my passive-aggressive signature about signatures instead

Aren't you the official DT12 enthusiast?

[nothing on DT12 is in my top 50 and it's probably saved from being the "worst" album simply by nature that WDADU is such an outlier for the band]

erwinrafael

Two. Illumination Theory is my number 4 and Breaking All Illusions is my number 2.

PS Head

Four for me.....BITS..OUTCRY..BAI......ADToE's is one of my fav' albums........and IT....unfortunately DT12 hasnt quite cracked it for me yet,

Chris Collins, is that you? '^

Outcry and IT.

My newly repaired laptop is thanking god that I wasn't drinking anything when I read the small text  :lol

Daso

Once again, it's hard to tell. Illumination Theory and Breaking All Illusions are there without a doubt. Surrender to Reason could be making it, but I'm not quite sure. It's tough, I tell you, being sure about your own opinion  :lol

Jaq

One in Illumination Theory, with Breaking All Illusions nearly making it there.

King Postwhore

Setlist Scotty

Never went thru and made a top 10 list, but I tried to the best I could - man it was hard! Anyhoo, only BitS managed to make it to the top 10 for me.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.
Quote from: TAC on July 10, 2024, 08:26:41 AMPOW is awesome! :P

son_ov_hades

None, but if I redid my list Breaking All Illusions would be top 5.

Then why don't you change your vote to 1?

Miss Bangkok

If I had to pick one I'd say Breaking All Illusions, but honestly it's not really in my top 10. Learning to Live is, however, which is what BaI is modeled after anyway. It's still the best song off ADTOE though.

kanutaros

I kinda REALLY liked DT12, there's at least 5 songs from there I would put amongst my Top 20.

Along For the Ride is my favourite DT ballad for sure.

mike099

BAI(#1) and The Bigger Picture(#9).  The first time I heard BAI, I was blown away.

BTW - I vote Miss Bangkok's avatar #1. :o
