Found this little snippet on Berklee's website

The Opera House show was recorded and will be released as a DVD by Eagle Rock Entertainment. A portion of the sales of the DVD will establish a scholarship in the name of Dream Theater at Berklee.

So by buying this DVD, not only are we supporting DT, but we're supporting the next generation of DT's. :metal

I'm surprised they haven't really played at Berklee. I know there was the show in '94 (which was awesome BTW!!) but I thought they'd have gone back to play at some point.

Tim, can you name the opening band for that show?

Don't forget---- the Jon Finn Group.  Great act added last minute to the bill by the school.

Oh Man! An original and unexpected title for the upcoming bluray....ยก Morever, the release date is just a month from now!!!!!! Anxiously waiting for the official confirmation, cover art and teaser. Hyped and psyched!

Mladen

Breaking the fourth wall? What does that mean?

Breaking the Fourth Wall? I hope every song ends with JLB making a wise crack and winking at the camera.

Huh, I wonder if that's a legit title/release date... If so, that's coming up pretty quick and I'd be surprised if an official trailer wasn't released soon.

cramx3

Yea I am concerned if that is legit, if its being released in a month, we should have gotten an announcement already or within the next couple days I would think

Can anyone find any relevance to that title?  Or anyone know if www.blu-ray.com has been legit in the past with regards to this.

rumborak

I guess the title makes sense since they filmed it in an old (and beautiful!) opera house.

I love the title, hopefully it's legitimate! I was rather expecting a November/December release, so a late September one would indeed be a great and delightful surprise!

cramx3

Ah, I just looked up the meaning of the phrase "Breaking the fourth wall"  I guess it could make sense given the environment and that the berkley folks were actually in front of the stage (not behind the band like Score), right?

So many fourth walls got broken during that comic. Literal and figuratively.

Isn't breaking the fourth wall pretty much the same thing as taking the spectator along for the ride? :neverusethis:

Looks to be of at least similar quality to LALP, but this mix definitely sounds better to my ears. I can hear every instrument clearly, and the drum sound is great, not as dry as LALP. The video seems to cover the stage a little better too. JLB sounds perfect, and JP sounds so great that he sounds exactly like JLB! :neverusethis:

Overall, looking great. :tup

Yea, the look is really crisp and there aren't as many cuts like most concert DVDs which is cool so you get a lot more stable shots which I like.

And we still haven't heard how that orchestra is going to sound! :metal

Tomislav95

JP is again maybe too loud but than can be Youtube sound. And I have to say this sounds more live than LALP to me. I'm hyped for release :tup

BlobVanDam

JP's guitar sounds perfect volume to me, softer than it is on DT12. Couldn't be much happier with the mix for that song, actually.

Pretty sure it's the YouTube sound. The master file I have is  :metal :metal

Agreed - also liking the lighting better and less panning all over the place.  Could do with a touch more JMX I reckon but as you say that could just be the poor sound file.

Evermind

Yep, I think it was quite good. I'm excited for the full performance, would be interesting to see how they handled orchestra sound and all that.

Overdubbed or bad sync? Seems like a weird choice of picture-focus if they knew the overdubs weren't identical to what was actually played during the show.

Oh yeah, I'm glad it doesn't look like it was edited by someone with ADHD. There could be more audience shots, but the picture quality is great. The mix is better than LALP, although the drum sound (once again) could have more punch and the bass could be louder (I listened with speakers, maybe you can hear it better with headphones).

Looking at the drums, the sync seems to be fine. I think it was just an unfortunate spot to show the close-up!

The bass could be a little louder, although this is a song where the bass isn't as distinctive, so that might be a factor in this case. During the instrumental section, I could hear the bass quite nicely in there. Drums sound pretty punchy to me, a definite an improvement over LALP imo.
