The Holy Tune

SFAM: 10

The rest is all above 7, maybe ADTOE can be 6.

WDADU: 5

And that's only because I don't really like Dominici's vocals. The creativity in the album feels better than most of their after-8VM era.

BCSL: 10/10 (SFAM & SDOIT: 9/10)
Systematic Chaos: 3/10

I've never seen anyone rank BCSL as their no. 1 album.  :tup

Yes well, I have the greatest love for A Nightmare To Remember and The Count of Tuscany. The rest of the record is balanced by their greatness (I don't like The Best of Times at all), although I do think Wither is a well written song. But I'm more of the heavy stuff ^^

Favorite album: Metropolis part 2: Scenes from a memory - 10/10
Least favorite album: Falling into infinity - 7/10

Suprising you don't like SC then. SC and ToT are like the two heaviest albums.

Yea, now that you mention it.. :justjen I love ToT (especially Endless Sacrifice and Honor Thy Father). But I think SC is a bit uninspired (not as creative as they can be) and has some annoying vocal melodies (whiny in Forsaken, for example). SC feels to me as if they lost their creativity in their wish to make it heavy, if that makes any sense.

Pretty much agree with all of this, except I also think it sort of applies to BC&SL too (except for TCOT which is pure gold).

Interesting that you rank BCSL, SDOIT and SFAM very highly, because SDOIT and SFAM are my favourite albums, and BCSL is my least favourite.

I can understand why - the atmosphere is different - but I love them both. I think it's interesting overall to see what different opinions people have here. Apparently DT has made music for all kinds of people ^^

Definitely agree on that last remark, they have quite the variety. Both albums have a heavy, dark side and an uplifting, melodic side, but in different ways. I guess I just much prefer SDOIT's way with dark, experimental, almost psychedelic atmosphere on disc 1, and the more eclectic classical, folk and  jazz influences on disc 2.

What you describe of SDOIT is indeed exactly what I love about it. Plus the majestic (huehue) bombastic orchestral melodies

That made me burst out laughing because it reminds of a friend that does that laugh perfectly. :lol

It's a shame that SDOIT is somewhat under-represented in the official live catalog. I mean, half of the album technically is, with the title track and Disappear, but the other tracks really need it. The Great Debate is on Happy Holidays 2013 and has great sound, but there is no video version, and Blind Faith on CiM doesn't count for obvious reasons. I'm glad I got into the bootleg culture for that reason. :P

To my least favorite album (BC&SL), I would like to add SC, which is not get better with time...

:lol I guess it does sound shady, but it definitely isn't since, DT is a band that allows fan bootlegs to be shared. :coolio

Images and Words/Awake (tied at 10/10)

Least Favorite:
when Dream and Day Unite- 6/10

Rodni Demental

When Dream and Day Unite 8. Everything else 9-10. Yeah, not very interesting. I would have had much more varying answers a few years ago but at this point, most all of their music has grown on me in some form or another so the difference is about 1 or 2.

Zook

I think Awake might be creeping up as my favorite album over Images and Words, but they are both 10/10

Black Clouds & Silver Linings is a 4 I guess. I only really care for 2 of the 6 songs, and when there are only 6 songs, that's not good, no matter if the songs I like are very long or not.

NotePad

BC&SL was not a good album. They should not have made that album.

Hey, now. I listed it as my least favourite - I think it's the most obviously flawed - but there's a lot of cool stuff on that disc. The Count of Tuscany's a strong 8/10, Wither's great, A Rite of Passage has its charms - the Shattered Fortress has never been a fan favourite but it's going down great this tour. BCSL's a mixed bag but DT's discography would be six decent songs down, without it.

So similar Marco except replace Awake with SDOIT.

When you swim in an ocean of mediocrity vast and yet meaningless can be the neverending lulling oscillations of the waves :emo

Clearly I'm joking, I don't consider either to be mediocre! Actually, I'm really surprised to read those very low marks for your (intended plural second person) least favourite DT album. How could you even rate an album 1/10? Teachers give that score when a paper is completely blank and when the alumn misspelled his own name! And 3 itself means the album is "grievously insufficient" on average! It can just be me but I never regarded any of the DT album this way, not even those I have hardly listened to in the past 4 years (TOT, SC)

?

Well, "grievously insufficient" is a good description of SC! :lol But seriously, OP said the scale is 1-10 and SC is a below-average album IMO (especially in comparison with I&W and Awake), so I think the rating is fair. As I've often mentioned, the first 2 tracks are the only ones I like from start to finish and the rest of the album ranges from mediocre to awful. I'd probably rate all the other albums at least 6/10, though.

NotePad

I love ToT, despite the wank that interferes in some otherwise amazing songs.

I find it kind of odd when someone ranks both I&W and Awake with perfect scores. I love Awake. I&W...not so much. I believe that, for the most part, those two individual albums represent two different sides of DT. I&W is the proggy rock Rush and Yes side. Awake, the more widely accessible and straight-forward side. Most of their albums lean towards I&W.
