And if so, where should it be filmed and what should it include?

Yes, I'd like a DVD release
No, I don't want a DVD release
I don't care either way
It should be filmed in MONTREAL
It should be filmed in LONDON
It should be filmed in AUSTRALIA
It should be filmed ELSEWHERE (please specify)
I would like to see WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE in its entirety
I would like to see AWAKE in its entirety
I would like to see SCENES FROM A MEMORY in its entirety
I would like to see DREAM THEATER in its entirety
I would like to see a mixed setlist with nods to certain anniversaries
I would like to see a completely balanced setlist with no anniversary celebrations whatsoever

Yes, I do want a DVD from the upcoming tour to be released! I voted for it to be recorded in Montreal because that would be sort of cool for James, considering he hails from Canada and I don't think they've recorded a DVD in his home country yet.
Well, if that's your reasoning, then they should record at Massey Hall in Toronto, cause that's the show I'LL be at!  :metal

Here's a question for you guys. Do you want any of the songs from ADTOE to be played on the upcoming tour? Since they've all been played at some point on the previous tour, do you think they'll be playing some of them again, and if so, which ones?

Yes, I want a DVD, since they forgot that the South exists for this tour leg.

What's this "South" you speak of???

And on CD's original question..... Hell Yeah!!! :metal :metal :metal  (any live recording/variation/location works for me)

I think we'll see one or two - I'm hoping for Breaking All Illusions and Beneath the Surface to reappear. OTBOA is a possibility also, but I can't see any of the others being played, at least on the first couple of legs.

For a DVD, one of those would suffice, preferably BAI.

Octavarious

A dvd - yes, why not?
This time it would be great if at least a part of it would be filmed here in Rome, some of you were right about us Italians getting bonkers, and here we are going to have not only the huge mass of Roman fans but ALL the fans from Southern Italy... And for most of us THEY are usually really crazy ( not only for DT) so you can figure out... In fact Rome is going to be the Southest venue in the country. The only doubt is that it's a bit early in the tour...
About setlist, yeah a good mix of everything would do. Would just like to see AMBI in its entirety...

Yep, I'm thinking those songs, as well, except I don't think they may bring Beneath the Surface back since they have Along for the Ride.

TheGreatPretender

I highly doubt they'll bring back BAI since it was kind of the epic of the album, and it's a hell of a long song. I think OTBOA is the more likely contender, being the Grammy nominee and everything.

Evermind

I really hope it's not OTBOA. While I like the song, the band only came in Russia during their pre-ADTOE tour, and the one song from the new album they performed was indeed OTBOA.
Quote from: Train of Naught on May 28, 2020, 10:57:25 PMThis first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

JayOctavarium

If we are betting on ADTOE songs... I'd wager on OTBOA and / or Shaman's Trance

KevShmev

Unfortunately, On the Backs of Angels is probably a gimme to get played again, since the Grammy nomination gave it some recognition, so it only makes sense to play it again for fans who maybe got into the band because of hearing about it.  And I say "unfortunately" because, while it is a pretty good song, they have dozens of songs that are much better.

Well, maybe they'll keep that in mind and play some other song(s) from the album when they're there.

A DVD will be filmed. And even though SF fans are boring as fuck for the most part, it should be filmed there.

Why there?

I think it'd be very cool if they did a show in Australia. Then we can see Blob!

And we get to see his reaction when they encore with SDV.

In all honesty, while I don't see them doing SDV as an encore, I can definitely see them doing Scarred.

His reaction to that song might be even more entertaining :lol

RaiseTheKnife

An Ytse Jam release would be fine.  No need to get all wacky with all the box sets and extras with an official label release.  Just a nice bootleg reocorded nicely and authorized and released by the band.

ZKX-2099

Am I the only one that wants to see Black Clouds songs on the next live?

The Count, Wither and maybe Nightmare and I would be a happy camper.

In all honesty, because of the aura surrounding SDV, I think it would be the perfect song with which to start off the encore.  Just my speculation.

KevShmev

I love Space Dye Vest, but given that only the most hardcore fans are likely to really know it, if it is played, it shouldn't be an encore.  I would think in the middle of the 2nd set is where it would work well.

Musically, sure, but just because JR played it once during a solo concert, doesn't mean that it's about to become a regular part of DT's setlist.

We'll see though. JP DID say they'll be playing music they've never played before, and I'm hoping that doesn't JUST refer to the new album.

They played TCOT a bit last tour, so I don't expect that one again, but Wither or ANTR would be good. Given that they chose ANTR as one of the drummer audition songs, I'm surprised it hasn't popped up already.

Daso

I'd love a DVD release and I can see one coming, not only because of how excited the band is about the new album, but also because some members (like MM, specifically) have said that the new show (in the An Evening With format) is going to have a lot of content (who knows of what sorts...), which could lead them to wanting have a recorded version of it.

I would like for it to be in Montreal because JLB said he would like the next DVD to be in Montreal and that it was a heavy contender on the last round, but it didn't get the spot. Montreal's audience seems appropriate, too. London would be amazing, if they could record the DVD in the Royal Albert Hall.

As for the set, the mixed set with a few nods could be good. Of course, since the tour is promoting DT12, there must be more songs from that album than any other. Perhaps 3 or 4 songs from Awake and from SFaM would be adequate. I would like recent, nicely recorded live versions of Awake and SFaM, but having either of those on a major DVD release would be odd. Perhaps if they could release either (or both?) as EPs or bootlegs it would be cool.

Apparently the band (and especially Jordan) didn't feel like playing ANTR on the ADTOE tour: https://www.dprp.net/wp/interviews/?page_id=582
QuoteDave: Ah, shame. How come you don’t throw “A Nightmare to Remember” and “Dance of Eternity” in there, I guess Mike knows these already, right?

Jordan: You know, we had to make a choice. One of the things we did before we put the setlist together is that we all went around and made a list of the songs that we really wanted to play and Nightmare to Remember wasn’t one of them. Nightmare to Remember is a long song and personally, given the choice of that or The Count of Tuscany, I feel more attached to Count of Tuscany, it’s just such an open, melodic, harmonic song. Nightmare to Remember has a little bit more of the angry side of metal mixed into it, really super-dark, almost ultra-theatrical and I don’t know, I feel like that’s one of the things I wanted to kinda get a break from and let go of a little bit.

Either that, or they just didn't know how they would handle the growly section  ;D

I would love to hear JLB just do the clean and melodic part the way he was originally going to do it. But without MP's cookie monster vocals, obviously.

OTBOA is a Grammy-nominated song. You can pretty much expect that song to be played live on every tour from now on.

As for other ADTOE songs I guess maybe BAI and maybe FFH. They didn't play a single TOT song in LP. I think I'd like to hear AIA and ITNOG.

I would love it if they filmed every show and let you download your specific venue's video afterwards for some surcharge.

I'd love to see DT12 in it's entirety at The Royal Albert Hall...sounds like the perfect gig to me  :)

You know, that's a funny thing, I thought of this idea as well.  Just stick a camera somewhere with a good center viewpoint, with good quality sound and let it roll.  Just charge a fair amount for the fans that were there and we got some revenue.  I don't know why bands don't do this more.  Does it cost that much?

TheGreatPretender

I wouldn't pay for video footage of just one camera centering on the stage.  :-/

If I pay for any kind of video footage, I want there to be editing and closeups on band members at LEAST. Otherwise, I think it's pointless, and I'd rather just get an audio version of whatever the release is.

wasteland

I think the additional stress deriving from the awareness of being OFFICIALLY video recorded every night, mistakes and everything, might be a little too much. As a fan I would be entirely in for this idea (well, I already seek every bootleg and video recording of every night already, but to have them in an official would be an improvement), but I'm not sure the band would jump on this bandwagon straight away.

Yeah, but at the same time, I think they're aware that they're ALREADY being recorded on video every night by one fan or another. Remember the epic JM tackle, or JLB's little plummet last year? Those were awesome.
