That was expected. This is a popularity contest people, not an award show to award the best in the art.

countoftuscany42

was the grammy band just playing green tinted sixties mind by mr big?  :rollin

I'm not bitter like I suppose some might justly be. But I was thinking earlier when they did all the subgenres of Latin and roots and jazz and everything... Why the fuck is there just rock, alt rock and metal and that's it for those vast and diverse genres of music? There should at least be a prog category, IMO, because that's a notably different style of music oftentimes than straight up rock.

son_ov_hades

At least it wasn't fucking Volbeat. I mean that Sabbath song and album is horrible, but Volbeat is much worse.

Zook

I would have preferred the AC/DC cover to win over that boring, repetitive snoozefest by Sabbath.

Do y'all plan to stay tuned to/think it's worth staying tuned to the main show to see Metallica? Apparently they're playing with a pianist.

my plan was to write "woohoo we won" but anyway God is dead  :metal

Ehhhh, I'm not going to watch it, I might watch WWE's Royal Rumble instead.  I'll check Metallica and NIN/QOTSA/Dave Grohl/Buckingham performance the next day or something.

Black Sabbath wins Grammy, no one who read the list of nominees shocked in the least.

TL

My main issue with this is that the same Black Sabbath song was nominated in Rock and Metal categories.
However, my issue is with the Grammys, not Black Sabbath. Congrats to them, and congrats to DT for being nominated.

Can't say I am surprised but I am still dissapointed. Oh well, maybe next time!

Man, that BS album is certainly boring. I get the feeling this may be DT's last nomination too since they've now lost back to back nominations and the voters have now successfully headed off any criticism DT fans may have given them for DT losing to FF in their initial nomination.

RaiseTheKnife

Glad I didn't stand outside Staples center with my Dream Theater sign this time 'round.

Lars is a big pianist

GOOD DTF, LET THE BUTTHURT FLOW. :P

It's a shame DT didn't win, although I wasn't expecting it. But hey, DT now have TWO nominations under their belt, and maybe it will be third time lucky. :tup
And congrats to Black Sabbath. I wasn't a huge fan of 13 either, but hey, it's Sabbath, so I'm still ok with that.

I'm picking Led Zeppelin for best rock performance.

Edit: F************************.  I hate that radioactive song.

Imagine Dragons? They're amazing, Night Visions is one of my favorite albums.

edit: Also, Lindsey Stirling's cover of it is amazing, because it has Lindsey Stirling in it. :P

I'm cool with this sentiment. I'm a patient guy and considering DTs momentum now, I'll remain confident they'll be nominated again in the future for another chance. Good stuff.

rickhawk80

No matter how much of a fan anyone here is of DT or any of the other nominees I can't believe anyone seriously thought someone other than Sabbath would win this year. :|

Just like Joe Satriani.

Perpetual Change

Considering the band are on tour and thus not even at the Grammy ceremony, I don't think they were as hopeful about it anyway.

I love how Joe got nominated three times for the same song, over the course of 13 years.

I didn't watch the Grammy's, but don't bands do an acceptance video when they can't receive it in person? If that's the case, I wonder how long they've known they didn't get it.

countoftuscany42

there were a lot of bands not present during the pre show ceremony, they just had the presenter accept it on their behalf, no video.  maybe during the main show they do it different

Hell yeah  :metal

Too bad Dream Theater didn't win. I watched the whole show (first time watching the Grammys in over a decade) just to see Metallica, and I loved their performance. But for a three-and-a-half-hour ceremony, I swear to Christ there were less than ten awards given out; the rest were performances.

With that said, I think Lorde is my new celebrity crush. I have no idea who she is, really, other than a singer/songwriter, but hooly sweet Jesus is she ever gorgoeous  :hefdaddy

sneakyblueberry

Really?  She's kinda gangly, and it looks like her bones are in disagreement with each other.

WDADU

...I just found out she's only seventeen. I honestly thought she was around my age (twenty-three), no more than twenty-six/twenty-seven. Ah, well, still a good lookin' gal--especially in that kinda-goth look she was rockin' tonight.

And something I forgot to mention in my last post: Ringo and Paul fuckin' nailed it tonight. I was hoping they would rock a little "Sgt. Pepper", though. Guess I'll have to wait for that Grammy Hall of Fame thing on the twelfth of February they mentioned a couple times.
