Better luck next  time, DT. Congratulations to Black Sabbath.  :metal

It doesn't surprise me that Black Sabbath won. They were nominated in the past but never won so I have a feeling there was a nod to Black Sabbath here. That is the whole album itself is awesome. What a great reunion album, however as the song itself is great, I still lean towards The Enemy Within being better. But still, congratulations to Black Sabbath. It's about time!

The Enemy Within is a great song for sure  :metal

Just listened to the Metallica performance. Lol, 20 years after writing the song, Kirk Hammett still can't play the song.

Actually they have won a grammy.  They were nominated for a live performance of The Wizard (a song that was 30 years old at the time) off of an Ozzfest compilation album.  So, for those that ever wondered about the legitimacy of the grammys...there ya go

CodyWanKenobi

Black Sabbath won the grammy? Wow, who saw that coming?

I knew DT wouldn't win, but maybe next time there'll be less competition and the nominated song won't be as average as TEI :P

You know what's gonna be funny?

The thread, since there's no reason to believe every time they put out an album they'll be an automatic Grammy nominee, that will happen if their next album doesn't get a nomination:

Has DT lost it since they didn't get a Grammy nomination this time?

You KNOW it'll happen  :lol

Would DT have been nominated for a grammy if Mike Portnoy was in the band?!?! ;)

Grammys, Oscars, Emmys...they´re all advertisement for the entertainment industry.

"The omission of late great Jeff Hanneman and Iron Maiden's Clive Burr from "In Memoriam" segment, the rude cut-off of all-star rock finale and the absence of Black Sabbath receiving their Best Metal Performance award from the live telecast stand out as more prominent screw-ups, leading to an open letter from our Loudwire colleagues."

Hadi

Well, that was unbelievable for me, enemy inside is beautiful. in fact... all songs of this album was  beautiful. but hey, it's grammy. derp.

That's a freaking great point.  I didn't even think about that.  Especially since the had a picture of some guy who played on a Beatles session.  lol.  That was his caption 'played on a Beatles session'.  Pffffft.

Wow... that was rather hard to listen to.  :(

the grammy nominations only support the idea the DT is at the height of their popularity. It's cool, i just don't feel anything on these last 2 deserve the nominations. It would make more sense to me had something from Awake or Octavarium been nominated.

That would make no sense at all... Oh wait it's the grammys, nevermind.

NotePad

I like the fact the DT now has 2 Grammy nominations. I always thought the closest the Grammys would get to something like this was nominating Tool. But I can also see why people think the Grammys are useless, what with nominations/winners like St. Anger (a song I'm a big fan of, but realize most others hate)

It's awesome. Like I keep saying, it looks to me like DT is at the height of their popularity. Too bad they still get no radio play though.

IMO, Hammett is the second best guitar player in Metallica.

Don't you mean third? Have you seen Robert's skills?

RodrigoAltaf

Fourth if u count past members...Dave Mustaine was in the band too!  :loser:

JayOctavarium

Didn't Jason play guitar on a song or two live once in a while?

So... 5th

RodrigoAltaf

JayOctavarium

Does Lars play guitar?

Ok... that'd still make Hammit 6th.

OT:

We'll get that grammee next year

I seriously doubt a non-average song will get nominated :P.

AND to further derail the thread, Lars is the Ringo of our generation.

:tdwn  That's totally overlooking Lars' songwriting contributions to the band.  He may not be the best musician in the band, but many of the best songs are Hetfield-Ulrich compositions.

Plus Metallica members are biggest Bieber fans too. And we know that which band was the dumbest, weakest in big four.
