Train of Thought came out in November of 2003, so it is technically from the last 10 years/120 months (October 2003-September 2013).

I will take the two newest.  A Dramatic Turn of Events I liked better than any other DT album since Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence went it came out and it has remained that way for me, and the new self-titled album is really, really good and sounds better than both Train of Thought and BC&SL to me.  Systematic Chaos and Octavarium both have some good stuff, but are the two least best ones, for me.

King Postwhore

I think I'll take DT12 and ToT. I do really, really love ToT, but after that, there was a bit of a slump for me, but I really like the new one.

Lowdz

I'm taking the last 2.

Although both had great moments, 8v to SC was a DT lowpoint for me- with SC as close as they've come to making a poor album. Things have been on an upward curve since then.

Train of Thought and A Dramatic Turn of Events. My #2 and #3 DT albums  :tup
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

Went with 8VM and DT.

Wanted to say ADTOE and DT but as much as I love ADTOE I've been listening to 8VM longer and it has more memories attached to it for me, and I just had to pick DT because it's probably the best thing they've put out in a loooooong time.

Mladen

Systematic Chaos and A Dramatic Turn of Events

I can see the new one growing on me, but it doesn't seem possible that it will surpass these two.

TOT is the album that really got me into DT, so that's a must. Then its a toss up between ADTOE and the new album, with ADTOE just slightly winning out.

The Letter M

A Dream Theater Of Events

Honestly, though, it's odd to think that I like their two latest albums the most out of the last 6 albums. Or perhaps I am just still in that honeymoon phase with both albums... It's funny because I became a fan not long after TOT came out, and 8VM was my first new DT album, but even then, 8VM was one of my favorites when it came out (with SDOIT).

Perhaps I'll change my mind in a few months, but the last two albums just have something the prior four don't, but 8VM and BC&SL came close for me...not so much for SC or TOT.

TOT and Octavarium easily.

This. It's too early for me to rate the latest album in relation to the rest.

ADTOE and DT12. The others don't quite stand a chance for me, I have never been particularly fond of them, besides maybe BCSL at the time of its release.

After deep thought, I went with ADToE and DT12.

ADToE is easily my favorite from the last 10 years, by any band (tied with Deadwing, and a hair better than Fear of a Blank Planet and The Incident from PT). I've been marveling about how amazing it is recently. Absolutely no skip songs for me. Packed with amazing riffs, melodies, lots of variety, and prob my favorite choruses of any DT album. I wasn't around the forums when ADToE was a hot topic, so I guess I'm finally getting this all out now.

I wanted to say, I'm really happy that some of you guys chose SC as one of the albums of your two. ToT as well. It was very hard for me to replace these albums with DT12 for this thread, as I've loved them for many years and DT12 is still fresh. I guess I haven't been around long enough to realize that many people love ToT. Awesome!!!

But in my humblest of opinions, DT12 simply has a better ratio of great songs to less great songs than the aforementioned SC and ToT. And as always, my choices are subject to change. I may just be choosing DT12 because I've played SC and ToT so many times, and the songs are less exciting to me. I guess we will see in time.

That's not to leave out O8V. I had a difficult time leaving this out as well. These list-type threads are always so difficult, because IMO, everything in the JLB era is amazing.

ADTOE and ToT. But it's still so early to be ranking DT12, given that it hasn't fully sunk in for me.

darkshade

Octavarium and Black Clouds and Silver Linings. I was torn between BC&SL and ADTOE, though.

I have a deep emotional connection to 8vm and Black Clouds, as both kind of define periods of my life, and both albums came out at a time I was really into DT, compared to other releases of the last 10 years.

1. Octavarium ( 2005 )

2. Dream Theater ( 2013 )

Least Goodest DT album from last ten years = Black Clouds & Silver Linings ( 2009 )

Shadow Ninja 2.0

I haven't heard DT12 yet, so I'm not holding off. If I were to vote, I would vote for SC-BCSL.

Zyzzyva17

BC&SL and ADTOE. Two out of the three DT albums (including IAW) where I like every song.

...yes, I like every song on Black Clouds. I'm weird like that.

JayOctavarium

Not counting DT12, I went with ToT and SC. They are the 2 of the list I listen to the most.
