It might just be me but I was listening to music on a usb stick in the car this morning and the first track from the Symfonia (Fields Of Avalon- sorry, can't link as I'm at work)album came on and I thought it was TEI when the riff started. Not claiming plagiarism or anything, it just confused me for a few seconds  and the opening is fairly generic- but still pretty infectious.

IMO (as a guitarist for 17 yrs now) there are no similarities between both riffs.

You're also from NJ. That would be hilarious if I knew you in real life. :omg:

On the subject of TEI, I've heard people complain that they haven't been able to find a memorable spot of the song, which I find funny because I routinely wake up with the song stuck in my head, even though I haven't listened to it very often.

Yeah I find it funny as well. The chorus was stuck in my head after hearing the song 4-5 times!

Can't comprehend that as well. The part that comes to my mind more often is JP's riff that comes after the intro riff and comes again after the chorus is sung for the 2nd time. LOVE that  riff, as simple as it is.

Whatsername

I have James's melodies stuck in my head a lot. Especially the first verse "over and over again, I relive the moment"

RMGadelha

James' melody that stuck in my head the most was the "Between the flashbacks and the Violent dreaaaaaaaaaaams!" part  :metal

Initially listened to TEI about 10 times right when was released.......then held off until yesterday. I really like that song, it's a good song. As I listened I imagined watching them perform it at the Grammy's and thought to myself how cool that'd be for the 'normal' music fan to get to see talented musicians like DT rock out like that.

Me too. That riff is my favorite part of the whole song. MM's drumming during that part really makes it great.

Yeah that's a great simple, grooving riff, it gets stuck in my head as well! The whole chorus melody has actually grown on me and is often stuck in my head too!

That's very true. I actually hated the chorus on the first time and now I really dig it! I love when that happens with DT's music.

^I too appreciate that riff you are referring too, especially how it gets beefier at the end. That is the memorable part of the song for me, as well as the wah rhythm part where JR is playing. I can also relate to the lyrics sometimes lol.  >:( :metal

I watch the lyric video everyday and totally love it. The song grows on me every time I hear it. I'm still not sure how they managed to film me for the video, I must have been out it!  :metal

I've listened ro thé Song twice and I really like it. Dont heat any similarities tog ordet songs. Thé riff is heavy and Wine cool drums from Mangini. Definetly a song that will get more plays.

I love this song but I do have one complaint. The song kicks ass and has a great flow but the ending falls a bit flat. Its like they didn't know how to end it. James goes up to sing the last line and for me its just meh. Seems they could have done something better, at least to my ears. Otherwise, its one of the tracks that is stuck in my head.

OsMosis2259

I love the energy throughout the whole song. It sounds like the band just having a great time!

I didn't get tired of the song even though it was released a month before the release. I remember getting a little worn out with OTBOA when ADTOE was released.

I like the ending. The intro riff kicks so much ass right after the last chorus, and how James goes up with his voice while the other guys play that badass last section reminds me of BITS, which is always a good thing :metal

That's cool. Its just the way my ears and brain process the last line. I'm knit picking.

For some reason, I feel that this song works a hell of a lot better as a standalone track rather than in the context of the whole album. Anyone else feel that?

I think you're  right - I do love it and don't rate it near as low as most here , but it does stand out like a sore thumb.  .....almost subconsciously I do tend to play it by itself and often skip it when playing the album which would back up your theory.  Spooky  ;D

wolfking

I still like it a lot, and think it works well positioned in spot number 2 on the album.

JiM-Xtreme

I personally think it's very badly placed... after the awesomeness that is FAS it feels rather like an anti-climax.

"So what song should have gone in it's place?", I hear you all yell. I think Behind the Veil should have been placed there. Works much better as an opening song for me, and I think it follows better from FAS. I encourage you all to listen to the two back to back and see if you agree.  ;D

If you cut the intro off BTV maybe, but I think the one-two punch of FAS > TEI works perfectly to start off the album.
I'm hoping they play them back to back like that live to kick off the show, and hopefully overlapping the outro noise of FAS. I wish they'd crossfaded them on the album, because it would have sounded cool!

I like it more now than I did when it first came out. It's grown on me quite a bit and I think it'll be a cool song to see performed live.

Agreed on all counts  :tup Whenever I listen to the album, I always rush to click skip track so there's no gap between the tracks  :lol

I remember feeling complete dejavu the first time I heard the bridge of The Enemy Inside. I'm still not sure but I think it reminded me of some part of Prophets Of War.
Did anyone else ever have such an experience of the bridge?

(I know that other parts of the song obviously reminded people of OTBOA).
