Quote from: TheGreatPretender on August 01, 2013, 01:29:21 PMI guarantee you that these people probably weren't listening to Images and Words when they were 3 - 7 years old. Let alone When Dream and Day Unite. Which basically means that DT has a huge part of its fanbase who haven't been there since the band's inception, anyway.

Hai  Systematic Chaos = first DT album, here!  :metal

We don't want you!

Same here, just not upon release.

MarkFitDT

my first DT song was A Fortune in Lies in 1989 so that obviously makes me a better fan!!!  ;)

The Boomr

I love me some I&W or 8VM (<-- what is the abbrev. you guys use again?). In fact I love, truly love, all DT albums except FII. But I don't even dislike that album anymore, I've come to appreciate a lot about it, and I even love a few select tracks from it. Needless to say, I LOVE IT ALL! Dream Theater are my favorite music. (ehhhhhh please don't make me pick between them and Opeth D:)

RoDT

My first song was Puppies on acid  :)

Maaan years since I called that section like that XD

Notaclue

The first DT album i listened to was I&W, followed by SFAM and then Awake, I guess you can figure out my excitement and expectations  :metal

MarkFitDT

and I am as excited to hear new DT now as I was then!! DT fan boy alert!! :hefdaddy

Jaffa

Metropolis was the first DT song I heard, but Systematic Chaos was the first album I listened to in full.

The first song I heard where I knew who the band was, was actually Another Day. It came out on a compilation CD in norway back in 94: https://www.allmusic.com/album/even-more-power-ballads-mw0001235674 . But my father had bought WDADU and I&W when they were released in norway due to him being a prog fanatic back then.

Because DT is a Progressive band, so this is a progressive thread, constantly progressing into a new subject, with the occasional recurring theme of the new album.

Fixed it.

Back on topic... what song do you guys think will be the single?

Most likely, I'm voting The Enemy Inside.

Wouldn't it be funny, but cool, if the single was actually the opening track?

That wasn't my point actually. Just have in mind a catchy melody with that title :D

I imagine the label will push for something a little more edgy sounding, like The Enemy Inside, or Surrender to Reason to be the single. But then again, I have no idea what these songs sound like, nor do I want to until I actually hear them.

I think he's talking about the actual song title there
