Does anyone know of any famous people that have admitted to being Dream Theater fans? I can't think of anyone; I was wondering if there are any notable examples.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

I tried googling "famous Dream Theater fans" but I couldn't find anything.

I found the same thing. I figured if anyone know, it would be the forumgoers here. I feel like the odds are high that there's someone... but there doesn't seem to be anything to find.

TheGreatPretender

When I become famous, I'll let everyone know I'm a DT fan.  :tup

Destiny Of Chaos

I know that Chris Jericho is a big fan.

DT. His name ain't Eddie Trunk.

WDADU

I was thinking Chris Jericho, as well. I know Sebastian Bach is.

?

I know musicians who have been influenced by DT, but none of them are really famous.

Sycsa

Owen Wilson better be a DT fan.

wasteland

Former governor of Utah, ambassador to China and GOP 2012 presidential primaries candidate Jon Huntsman.

I know that Devin Townsend is a fan, so is Michael Romeo... But they're musicians, does that count? And Keith Emerson is a huge JR fan, he claimed Jordan is the 'great keyboardist' of our time when asked what happened to the great rock keyboardists of the world.

Captain Reddot

Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth said he's a big fan of them on that series of interviews with him and MP.

I don't really count musicians, especially the ones that know DT members personally, or are within similar genres. I want to hear stories of Morgan Freeman being spotted headbanging to TGP in his car.

Maybe that's why he nearly died in a car crash in 2010 or 2011? :neverusethis:

No, that must have been ANTR. But by the grace of god above, everyone survived.

You were expecting a roar here, but I shall not fulfill your expectations.

Nope, still nuthin'.

wasteland

You know you want to post it. You know you need closure :zydar:

Zook

Yeah, Jericho is a big fan. On Fozzy's 2002 release, Happenstance, all the members of DT are thanked in the booklet... which is crazy because I'm pretty sure I read the thanks list back then, just not knowing who those names were at the time. I became a DT fan 4 years later.

JRuivo

Please post the roar and end this. My eye is blinking nonstop.

I don't know of any famous dt fans, I'm sure there are a lot of young famous musicians that listen to DT while growing up.

From Wikipedia

QuoteHe is a self-proclaimed fan of the progressive rock genre and played keyboards during high school in the band Wizard.[118] On July 30, 2007, he attended a concert by progressive metal band Dream Theater. Later that day, Huntsman signed a proclamation creating "Dream Theater Day" on that date for the state of Utah.

Best thing about that:

When asked before the show how Utah's Mormon tradition would influence Dream Theater's preference for musical masturbation, Governor Huntsman had no comment.

I always kind of doubt if he is or if he was just saying that for the interview.

I would have laughed my ass off for a good two minutes before ordering the guy arrested  :rollin

SuperTaco

Chris Jericho is a big DT fan and even drew some prog influence on the Fozzy song "Wormwood". Great track from probably the bands best album by the way.

Another Pro Wrestler with the ring name Donovan Morgan used "Metropolis" as his second entrance music. I know he's not famous, but is that not an epic song to make an entrance to? :metal

Shadow2222

Well, we have an anonymous famous fan on our board. TempusVox is (I believe) a relatively famous author, but he chooses to remain anonymous (which makes sense).

sueño

Is it ironic that in a thread about famous DT fans I had to google Chris Jericho?   :blush

SystematicThought

They aren't famous at all, but a lot of DJs for sport teams like DT. The Minnesota Timberwolves used Metropolis as their intro music and the San Antonio Spurs did too. And various DT music would play during the game too

eosforum

Musicians shouldn't count. There are quite many, even famous ones. Steve Vai for instance tweeted about listening to BC&SL and commented on JP's playing. Yngwie has stated he is also a huge fan, expect he thought MP's playing was too "Neil Pearty" and suggested "he should take a valium" :lol.

Other than that I don't know any celebrities that are even just metal fans. At least newer kinda metal, not like Maiden or Sabbath.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

Oddly enough, Jon Huntsman is how I found out about Dream Theater.
