What is that that you study, guys and girl? :D (Ville, you can not reply. I know! :p)
YOU CAN'T PREVENT ME FROM REPLYING, DAMMIT! :getoffmylawn:

Just kidding... Speaking of studies, mine will begin next Monday.
You can still tell me... I can't remember what you are studying  :lol
English language, literature and translation :) I'll probably orientate towards translation studies when it's time to choose between that and the language/literature studies, but only 15 out of the 70 students can pick the translation studies and your use of Finnish has to be excellent, so I'll see how it turns out.
Nice, good luck with that :tup By the way, is your custom title new? I like it  :lol

I posted many times from class. I have my methods of concealing an iPad, even when there's 6 people attending class (= all the time).

Oh wow I guess I was the only girl chatting. xD I'm a senior in 3D animation. :coolio

I keep being shocked that so many people on this board are from Europe. Does Dream Theater have a large following there?

Also, I'm completely jealous because I haven't ever been before and it's on my list of places I must go before I die.

Check the wikipedia page for any of DT's recent albums, and check the highest chart position for different countries. That should answer that!
DT seem to do pretty well all over the world. Europe, and other parts of the world, seem to be bigger on metal than the US.

How is their fanbase in Australia? Sales and concert attendances?

Their last couple of albums have just cracked the top 20 for first week album sales, and I think their shows did alright for attendance here. I don't think they're as popular as in the US (or Europe), but they do pretty well, I suppose.

See this is something I literally would never have thought to do. But that's so interesting! I guess I always assumed that metal was hugely popular in the US. Maybe I'm a bit more in the minority than I thought. :lol

Hey, I'd say we deserved it to make up for not getting any tour beforehand! Good setlist too. Hopefully they can make it out here this time.

Yeah, good setlist, but honestly not on par with 2004's, as you are well aware!

Yes, but we didn't get a tour in 2004!! I'd say we got the best setlists of the SC tour.

Still a losing bargain, I say :D

But hey, hopefully the '14 EWs will settle the matter forever! And check the inbox!

We didn't get ACOS. I'd say we dodged a bullet. :P

Honestly, if we get any DT show, I couldn't care less about splitting hairs over what was the better setlist. :lol Although if I get to hear TGP live in my lifetime, I can die happy.

I'd love to hear Octavarium, although given they have a new 20 minute epic to play, I'm not holding my breath to hear it.
WFS would likely mean I'd have to hear LTL, so no thanks on that one.

But the intro for WFS! I mean it's magnificent! And I figured with IT we probably won't get to hear Octavarium. Still holding out hope maybe a bit! :metal

Yup, we get the student version free through school. I've noodled around in Blender a bit and I've touched 3DS Max once or twice, but since I get Maya for free I generally stick to that. I need to start working on hair simulations for our senior project. We're doing a female character and our goal is to do real hair so we have a lot of work to do. :\

By that I meant to say that I hate The Glass Prison. On the other hand I narrowly missed WFS last year (got TSM instead!), and having to see LTL live sooner or later is one of the reasons I will never and ever consider suicide :D

re: DT's success in Europe - you can find the Finnish chart positions for DT albums here: https://finnishcharts.com/search.asp?search=dream+theater&cat=a

I'm a surprised at how low TOT charted compared to the preceding and following albums. They say Finland is a metal country, but the heaviest DT album was their least successful in the 2000s here :D

We used Maya in the course I did, and I managed to use it just fine, although I'm so used to 3DS Max that I never much liked it. I find 3DS Max much easier and more forgiving to use, although Maya appears to be the more widely used software in general, so I expected that would be what you're being taught.
How long have you been learning 3D?

Well, not just me, every other person who went to a DT in EU in 2012 or in the US in 2011 got to hear it.  :D

We got Erotomania and Voices, but no TSM. That's like getting an entree and dinner, but no dessert. And TSM is my favourite part of AMBI. :(

I started at my college in the spring of my freshman year, so... two and a half years. Not that long but enough for me to know I love it and don't ever want to stop.

In other news, AW YISS I GOT PAID TODAY. :metal

I seriously wish I was born sometimes in the seventies.  :\ You know, James LaBrie in his prime, the improvisations in 2004, the semi acoustic shows in 1998...
