As i child i remember my dads music collection including Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple... and look what i hear now. I hope i can educate my daughter's ears the same way my father did to me.

Yeah I owe my music taste (and love for music) all to dad bringing me up with his records from the 60s and 70s, and the taped concerts on VHS.

And congratulations :tup

This. My dad has an incredibly broad music taste, and although I can't really say he introducted me to metal (since he doen't really listen to it), most of the other music styles I listen to nowadays I got familiar with through his immense CD collection. Especially his love for prog has influenced me, and I'm very thankful for that :tup

Maybe you could use WFS or Eve or This Dying Soul as lullabies :D

Have you already settled for a name? :)

There are a lot of great songs i could use as lullabies, already thought of

Eve (of course, one of my fav tracks)
Silent man
The answer lies within
Wait for sleep (score)
Goodnight kiss (without the solo section)
Vacant
Beneath the surface
Honor thy father (tittle fits, lyrics i hope not so much in my case  :lol )

...

Then lots of Pink Floyd

We are still in post production for the name

?

Congrats in advance for the baby, serrano! :)

serrano

Thank you all! :)

I was about to call her Victoria in case she watches me and thoughtfully smiles, but nah... just joking. But it would bring a lot of DT moments to my life.

That beats my "OMG PMU IS ABOUT HAMLET" realization, how brilliant for a lit student to remember that after only for years of loving the song :lol
Nah, that isn't as bad! Sometimes it amazes me how stupid I can be :blush I shouldn't be that surprised about it though :lol

Another cool thing pointed out in the commentary was the FF chord progression (from the murder part) before the bass solo in TDOE - it's in a different key, but I can definitely hear it now.

I'm the same way. I actually don't usually recognize where a band references a melody from an earlier song or anything like that. Subconsciously I might notice it, but I usually can't place it. I actually have a lot of trouble hearing the Metropolis pt. 1 melodies in SFAM. :\

?

Watching LSFNY with the commentary is very helpful if you haven't noticed the Metropolis references, because the guys point them out many times :D However, the Home riff is the only one I hadn't noticed before, which is pretty embarrassing because it's so clear - maybe not as obvious as the beginning of Overture 1928, but... :blush

It's never too late to watch it ;) The full set is only included in the CD edition (which I don't have), but any DVD with SFAM in full, A Mind Beside Itself, LTL and ACOS is worth seeing!

What do you mean by this?

aprilethereal

There's a version with three CDs which contain the whole show, unlike the DVD version which doesn't feature some songs.

And what part of Metropolis Pt. 1 does the Home riff reference? :blush

?

aprilethereal

Thanks, I thought you were talking about one of the chugga chugga riffs :D

Never seen a video with this many likes and not a single dislike! For good reason!

I can only have 10 hours of free music per month on Spotify? This is outrageous.

They need to make some money :P

They already do wiith those painful ADs. Grooveshark in its free option offers a bigger catalogue, no in-song ads and no time limit whatsoever. Why then should people prefer Spotify? Because it's cool? Because every five songs you get told how amazing condoms are?

I bet people are just used to Spotify, think it's trendy and are too lazy to look for other ways to listen to music - just like people would keep buying Coca Cola even if there were some cheaper cola soft drinks that taste better.

I don't know where best to put this, but...

What's with the "special projects" boards under the General boards?

?

aprilethereal

I didn't even see that until you mentioned it :o

That section is for projects that are special.

Is there a hidden section for especially special projects?

Of course there is, considering they have a hidden section for everything, including the "Discussing Lonestar" section.  :azn:

Awake really early for the first time in ages. I thought the clock said 5:35. Turns out it was 3:35. Tried to get to sleep, but failed. The lesson is, never try.

Ah well. Good morning! :)
