Congrats :tup

Will get mine in about half a year :-\
Same here. And congrats SN and Ville!

TheGreatPretender

So I was wondering. I know we have Lifting Shadows, and it's a great DT history book, but do you think any of the members will end up writing a memoir sometime in their career? Considering how much detail MP put into remembering all the dates of where they performed, who they met, etc. etc. etc. I think getting a memoir from him would be very interesting.

YtseJamittaja

MP could be the only one I think. But not in a 20 years or so.

Myung's memoir would be quite short I think.

Thanks! I posted about it here when I passed the driving test, but nobody noticed :D

Didn't MP recently say he might write an autobiography or a memoir at some point? I'd say he would be the most likely person in the (ex-)DT camp to do that.

aprilethereal

I can't imagine MP letting that chance slip. He's most likely the first (and only?) one to write something like that.

TheGreatPretender

Maybe Myung will write one. Maybe that's what he meant by that "Read the book" statement during the making of I&W. He knew he'd be writing one in the future.

Sketchy

Someone started singing Pull Me Under at me in the street earlier.

Onno

Lol, that's epic  :lol I assume you were wearing a DT shirt then?

Sketchy

Yup. My SFAM one.

Embarrassingly it took me three repetitions of the line "Pull Me Under" before I realised what was going on, joined in, then air-guitarred my way down the road in a happy mood.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

I've never met another Dream Theater fan in real life.

Of course, I don't have anything to identify myself as a DT fan, so that's probably part of it.

I have two real life friends who like DT. One of them is a friend of mine whose favourite band is DT but he isn't nearly as a music fan as most of us here. The other is Elite.

Man, I've been so bored for the last couple of days. Almost all of my friends are on holiday, I don't have any games to play and with that the desire to do anything else just goes away. I don't even want to play my drums anymore. But I guess I shouldn't be complaining about my fucking long holiday.

?

You should never complain about long holidays ;) However, I know the feeling - last spring when I had this "studying vacation" I felt pretty bored at times and it was a bit of a relief when my summer job started. I went back to work a week ago and I'll continue until the end of the month when it's time to start my uni studies.

So, another exam down. One left. Finally the roulette will speed up a bit :D

aprilethereal

Yay preparing for a maths exam now :caffeine:

I love maths honestly, but I love dem holidays even more

?

I'll never ever have to study maths again :)

You mean "come back to life"? :P

wasteland

Oh, give me some rest, I would have seen all of you having to deal with the past month I had! :D

I've just come back from an evening with a few online friends from a DT FB group who have come down to my place on holiday! I brought them on a small tour of my beautiful city!

What's remarkable is that the last time I've been in a room with that many Dream Theater fans that room was pretty much a sport arena, and the band was with us to play :D

serrano

The last time i remember being with more than 2 DT Fans in a room (apart from concerts) was back in the 90's with my band mates and that would count only up to 3 (including me).

I hope that from September on i will have at least 1 more fan at home.

As i child i remember my dads music collection including Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple... and look what i hear now. I hope i can educate my daughter's ears the same way my father did to me.

wasteland

Maybe you could use WFS or Eve or This Dying Soul as lullabies :D

Have you already settled for a name? :)
