Hey, Blob. Did you do the graphic animations for DT's live show this tour? Because if so, then I gotta say, phenomenal job, man! Absolutely stellar!

BlobVanDam

Thanks. I did the intro video, and the taxi videos, but several other people contribute to the video show.

Shadow2222

This might sound crazy, and I can't find it anywhere, but did Roadrunner Records at one point say some dance group in New York was going to do a routine to Enigma Machine? I swear I remember this, but I can't find it anywhere (the press release or supposed video).

BlobVanDam

Yeah, I remember that. I did a quick search on the forum and the google, and couldn't find the original article though. But you're not crazy (at least, not for that :P )

GentlemanofDread

I remember hearing about that and I got all excited and then.. nothing. Good to know I'm not insane and imagining it too.

Yeah, I noticed that a few of the videos didn't seem like your style. But the intro was probably my favorite one they've ever done, so major kudos on that! It's amazing. I'm really hoping that we'll see it on the DVD.

Sketchy

Well played, whoever made today's theme. Suddenly the skype makes more sense.

It was a dramatic turn of events.  We were discussing what to do for it in a thread in the Admin forum, when bosky posted this.

In all seriousness, I'm so stressed and sleep-deprived that nothing is coming to ming at the moment.  But I will give this some thought.  Ideas are welcome.

Notice his typo.

To which XJ responded:

Well that settles it. Flash gordon theme.

And the rest of us immediately latched on enthusiastically.

**SPOILER ALERT***

That is how pretty much all decisions are made by the mod staff.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Nick

To be fair, most of us latched on enthusiastically, I played along not really knowing what I was doing or what the hell was going on.

So yeah, basically another day at the office. :D

GentlemanofDread

Well it was probably my favourite April Fools joke of the day so

On that note, I actually felt this April Fools' Day was overall a huge letdown (this forum aside). None of the usual big suspects seemed to do anything, at least anything that I noticed or heard about. Usually April Fools Day is quite an occasion on the internet, but this year I didn't hear about much. Is the internet over it?

I saw this floating around the internet yesterday... Pretty awesome April Fools joke:

Besides that one though, I really didn't see much else either...

As far as I'm aware, the only big sites to do it were Imgur (comment generator), IGN (Optimus Prime DLC for Titanfall) and here. Everyone else just kind of.. "DON'T TRUST ANYTHING"'d themselves into boringness.

I didn't hear about those either. I think people are generally so aware and prepared for it on the internet that you're right about the "don't trust anything" attitude ruining the fun now.

Haha yeah, thats the best April Fools prank I've seen in a long time!  :lol :lol

TheGreatPretender

I'm sure I'm late to the party, but this has just occurred to me. With the new DVD, this will be the first time we get a full live performance of The Dance of Eternity in its entirety, without the stupid psychedelic effects. I'm pumped for this!

?

It's also gonna be the first time all the four SFAM songs in the current set appear on an official DVD since LSFNY. When you think about it, it's kind of ironic that only two songs (which happen to be my least favorites :P) from Scenes have been included in the DVDs after LSFNY, knowing the fan-favorite status that album has.

Well, I always feel like SFAM, amazing as it is, is kind of a delicacy. They don't want to just load their setlists with SFAM songs all the time. TDOE is a special treat, like Caviar or Creme Brulet. It's the most delicious thing in the world if your pallet is sophisticated enough for it.

GentlemanofDread

Other than BAI/OTBOA, when was the last song on this tour that appeared on a live album? Scarred?

robwebster

This might sound ludicrous, but A Nightmare to Remember is fucking brilliant in a thunderstorm. The sky sporadically exploding, the water slipping down the glass - top atmosphere. It's like I'm hearing it in its natural habitat.

Scarred, yes, Chaos in Motion. Before that, Trial of Tears was on Budokan, and anything else is Metropolis 2000, earlier, or never. We've never had footage of The Mirror or Lie, (audio of both though,) never had TSF or Space-Dye Vest played, and the rest is either from DT12 or SfaM, 'cept Lifting Shadows from FYiaLT.

Seems funny that The Shattered Fortress is the first song off BCSL to make it to a DVD.

Oooh. I should try that sometime.

BlobVanDam

If we ever got rain, I'd give that a try too. :neverusethis:

And when it does rain, I usually don't listen to any music, and just enjoy the sound of the rain itself.  :hat

TheGreatPretender

So I was thinking, since it's just a matter of time before this thread turns into v. Blu-Ray is not out yet, again... Does anyone know who's taking care of the new DVD? Is it still Over The Edge?

BlobVanDam

I haven't seen any detailed information on that, so I'm not sure. I would guess that it's OTE again, but that's just an assumption based on DT's history with them.

aprilethereal

I hope not
And I hope JP will not be involved in the mixing. But he'll probably be. Man, their current show is so awesome, and they could make an awesome live release out of it, but if it turns into another LALP, then that'd be pretty disappointing.

?

I think the company that's making the DVD was mentioned in the thread for the Boston show, but I can't remember what it was. At least it's not OTE :P

I have a grammar exam today so I'll revert back to studying mode...

Onno

Yeah, regardless of which company will make the DVD, I hope they get the mix right this time. I recently watched LALP again, and the loud guitars and soft cymbals & snare really bothered me. It makes the mix seem really cold and boring.

cramx3

Ill take OTE doing the video, but someone else needs to take care of the audio and I would assume that would be an even tougher task this time around with the ensemble/choir.

I'm sure David Prater would love to do it!
