If you're near the wall in a venue with subpar acoustics (IE the Paramount in Huntington, NY), his guitar sound is pretty much all you can hear.

Approaching the paramount, with guitar in our eyes.

Left to right:  Frank Solomon, Maddy (JP's guitar tech), Rich Chycki, JP, Random Dude #1, Random Dude #2

Am I the only one that (until now, having just researched) thought Maddy and Neal Morse's tour drummer were the same person?

wasteland

No, I was completely convinced too! I only realized they are distinct people when DT and NM toured at the same time  :lol

I think that it's pretty cool that Maddy is there for the mixing.

Agreed, but it does make sense to have him there if JP is there.

Every time I have met JP, Maddy was somewhere close by.  I think he is actually surgically attached to John by a 30 ft. invisible cable.

:rollin  I guess they do look kinda similar.

Reminds me of Frank Zappa's bodyguard, always nearby.

Wouldn't be surprised if Maddy was also JP's bodyguard, being he's a big guy. Not that he probably needs one.

Yea, they do.  :lol

Of course, it seems Collin (Neal's tour drummer), sports a goatee now, so I guess we can more easily tell them apart.

During the Transatlantic tour documentary on The Whirld Tour DVD, Collin was there, and I remember thinking, "oh, JP's guitar tech is out on tour with TA. Cool!"

Holy Daim, they are absolutely identical. It's insane  :omg:

Was that the story about using the bathroom backstage?

Well, didn't both Mike and JR say that it sounds great? Or at least JR did. So we do have someone to back it up.

Τhey wouldn't say that it sounds like shit, that's for sure. It's mostly PR talk i think, not that i want to discredit their words, but i'll wait to hear it for myself before getting excited.

This.
I completely disregard all comments like this from bands. It's just generic studio update speak.
I don't get excited when any band says their album is their best, and sounds amazing, because every band says these things for every single album they release. That doesn't mean they're wrong, it just means I'll wait and judge it for myself rather than take their word for it. I'm hoping it sounds great though.

And also, ADTOE.
It's funny, cause Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge still says their second album (Blackbird) was their best album, and they just recorded their fourth! He's the only dude I know who's brutally honest about that.  :lol
My latest concept album "IV: Timber" IS OUT NOW!

:lol  Yeah.  I think the best part was him being shocked at my brutal honesty when he discovered us:

Collin:  So, um...how did you guys get back here?
Me:  Oh!  *points*  You guys left the "band entrance" door unlocked, so we snuck right in.  Hope that's okay.  But the way, you're kinda blocking my view of the guys soundchecking.  Mind sliding to your right just a bit?  Thanks.
Collin:  :lolpalm:

How does one attach an invisible chain?

With an invisible lock.  Really, you had to ask that?  I would have thought it would have been obvious.  I think you're pulling my invisible leg.

Actually, they've been using a wireless system since the Chaos In Motion tour. It gives them 50 extra feet.

That's good, because if the invisible cable got tangled, it would be a chaos in motion.
