I really wouldn't push that as a major selling point for physical media. I'm a big fan of physical media, and buy basically all of my media on BD/DVD/CD, but they typically have very little resale value.
Oh I know. But selling it for something is better than nothing!  ;)

Whoever it was (I AM SO NOT TAKING THE BAIT HERE), it was TSCO. That song always makes me cry when I listen to a live version. It is very likely to happen again here, in fact. :mehlin

When I say "cry", I mean "drown with weeping". Man, death sucks. Which is why I'm a ghostie

Fiery Winds

Reminds me of my friend who went to Outsidelands this year and saw Sigur Rós play Hoppípolla.  She got so emotional, she fell to the ground and weeped through the entire song!

The word 'actually' is completely pointless and does not need to be included.

Just saying.

robwebster

Incidentally, is this the first DT DVD with actual crowd shots?

I'm... struggling to remember any moments where one's ever cut to a crowd member in the past. Drawing a blank. If so - cool!

Ice9ine - spot the deliberate "mistake!" (Though I'd argue that it's not a mistake, it's just how people actually talk. Since when do people only use the words that need to be included? Speaking is, by its nature, actually rather gratuitous. Oops, there I go again.)

DebraKadabra

IIRC, there were some crowd shots in Score.  I don't remember if there are any in LAB though.

Weymo and Setlist Scotty (I THINK) are in some crowd shots also, along with Chris Jericho.  Wey is REALLY hard to miss, as he's so damn tall and towards the front(ish) of MSG. :lol

KeithK (a beloved MP.com member - RIP, man) was either in Score during the docu or in one of the earlier live vids.

The girl OBVIOUSLY has a cold - look at her red nose. She's not crying - she's just in the middle of a bout of sneezes, and is about to sneeze again. She's allergic to prog metal.

Keithk was in the bonus footage of Metropolis 2000. The guy that says something about how many miles he drove to see DT.

Sorry, I was forgot to green my text ;)

Seriously though, I'm glad they picked such a good shot for the trailer - it really adds to the image of truly emotional and passionate South American fans, not just of DT, but to music concerts in general!

Unrelated - but is it just the acoustics and echo or is James woefully out of tune in this vid ?

It's probably the video quality - but it sounds like has has trouble pitching in a few bootleg's i've watched...

Is he that hit and miss live or is it youtube ?

I was at that concert and him being off sounding is from the video itself and not how he actually sounded that night. After being at the show I listened to the bootleg and could really hear the difference. In the bootlegs at some parts he sounded almost chaos in motion like but at the show he was spot for almost the entire show.

LaB  has a great shot of the crowd just as the lights go out. It's one of my favorite shots from the DVD.

Not sure if you can actually see me, but I am in there. Was right on the aisle on JP's side. IIRC, I was in the second row outside the orchestra pit, sitting in front of JP's family. Also not sure if you can see him, but Rich Wilson was in the orchestra pit. And I happen to know the one dude that's in the very front, center seat with the super long hair (well, back then - he got it cut since) that's seen numerous times. His name is Kyle Graves altho when he had long hair, he looked vaguely similar to Kevin Moore (IaW era).

That could be the case, altho I think with the music as loud as it is in the live setting, combined with the excitement of seeing them live, what you remember hearing may not be exactly what happened. I say this from recalling memories of some concerts (not just DT) I've seen in the past, and later getting a bootleg of said show and being horrified that it doesn't live up to the memories that I had of it (in terms of performance).

I'd go by your memory. I've seen multiple bootlegs of the same venue shot with different cameras / phones, etc, and they all sound different and most sound terrible compared to what I heard. 30 cent microphones or even a good mic can't and won't pick up what your ears hear. That's why when they do a good DVD like this one they mix the board with really expensive open air mics. It still takes them months ()as we see) to get it right. It's just like photography. I have a super good camera, but it can't pick up what my eye sees. That's why I do a ton of post processing to get it back to what I saw. It's just that your ears and eyes have a much better and finer dynamic range compared to any machine.

I saw Ozzy Osbourne in 1996 and remember thinking it was the most amazing experience I have ever had.  He kicked so much ass!

Of course I was 13 and it was my first concert.  I later heard a bootleg and was amazed at how horrible he was.

Of course I haven't seen a band since then other than Ozzy a few more times that have been anywhere near as bad.

I think Wey had to specifically point you out, cause we didn't meet until 2008 and Score came out in 2006.  I'll also have to look for Rich the next time I watch it (which will be soon).

I understand that the general sound from various bootlegs from the same show are going to vary in sound quality - that's a given, especially since you're talking about people who don't have top-of-the-line microphones perfectly pointed at the PA stacks. But that's not what we're talking about. What we're talking about is how James actually sounds on a given night - is he on or does he hit some sour notes? Whether you have a soundboard recording or a recording from your iPhone in the middle of the audience, you still should be able to tell one way or the other. And that is more proof positive to me than what I remember hearing because of the aforementioned things that can affect my memory.
