Hmmmm... that might work...

Is there a song that is considered the epitome of prog?

TheGreatPretender

I'm sure it'd be different for everyone. I'd say Learning To Live or Metropolis, but I'm biased. After all, my life is Dream Theater.

FlyingBIZKIT

Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast

MoraWintersoul

I didn't choose the prog life. the prog life chose me.

Hemispheres (Rush)

Close to the Edge (Yes)
In Held 'Twas In I (Procol Harum)

scRa are the resultaten of sound nog bring propey

TheGreatPretender

All the people always talk about classic Prog Rock albums on this forum, but I'm really surprised that no one acknowledges Kansas and Leftoverture. Magnum Opus is one of the most progressive songs I've heard from its era.

I just opened my Bit Torrent Client (that I don't use for illegal downloads at all... ever...    ) and the Progress tab was shortened, so all I could see is "Prog" and for a moment I thought it was calculating how Progressive the music I'm downloading is.

:rollin

TheGreatPretender

Oh, I got another one.

My cell phone provider is a network called WIND. Whenever I'm connected and everything is running smoothly, the screen says, "WIND Home". So every time I see it, I immediately think, "Wind, carry me home! The fabric of reality is tearing apart!"

Actually here:

Scorpion

DebraKadabra

Look at all us freaks cluttering your city streets
Still scalping their ticket-less applause
Spun monkeys on the railroad track, take me to the caine field; I walk along pick my spiderbite
Basically Kyoko Kirigiri

TheGreatPretender

I'm signed up with TD Canada Trust bank. So whenever I try to go on their website to do my online banking, I always accidentally end up typing dtcanadatrust.com instead of td.

FlyingBIZKIT

um  :yeahright

Whenever I hear someone say are you DTF, I always think, WHAT THE FUCK DOES "ARE YOU DOWN TO DREAM THEATER FORUMS?"  MEAN!?

:P

TheGreatPretender

Why? What else does DTF stand for?

FlyingBIZKIT

TheGreatPretender

Oh. Never heard that one before. That sounds like something mostly a guy would say though. What guys ask YOU that?  :lol

FlyingBIZKIT

5 guys. Their names are Jordan, John, John, James, and Mike.

I wish..

TheGreatPretender

Man, I love Dream Theater, they're my favorite band, I think they're awesome guys and everything... But if any of them asked me whether I was down to fuck, I'd be getting the hell out of there.

FlyingBIZKIT

Me too  :lol

Well..

Yeah, I would.

Rattlehead

It's still hard not to at least crack a smile reading the original post...  :rollin

I have a few friends that like Dream Theater, and then a friend who likes them just as much, but a bit more than me, and we just drop DT puns all the time.

Today I logged to Spotify. There was a box saying "Remember me?" And this came into my mind:

Remember me, I gave you life

I was discussing DT with my cousin, who was a fan since 2003, and he suddenly forgot the name of 'Awake'. Once he remembered it, he said "I was caught in a web on that one" :rollin

Well played by him  :lol.

We had wicked humidity the other day, I could barely breathe. So all I could think is... No, not "Just let me breathe." Actually, I just thought about his brutal it was walking "through that stifling heat." And then I was like, "Damn it, I wish it was night time, so that there could be some kind of a pale moon at least."

Sketchy

There have been times when I've got back to the Chew Valley (the village where my mother lives is found in said geographical location).

... Yeah, that's when a certain part of Live At The Marquee starts up in my head. I doubt you'll need many goes to guess which two lines.

"Im in the valley" must be one of them. Can't guess the other.

The other is "My spirit must return"

TheGreatPretender

This one time I was driving by a street called "St. James" and my mind immediately went to LaBrie.

I'm having way too many these days as my (now)ex-boyfriend is now COMPLETELY hooked and one of our buddies has taken a really serious liking as well so we talk Dream Theater and throw references every single goddamn day. Not to mention that buddy is an aspiring guitarist, so we refer to him as Mr. Petrucci (or Petruccaay, in true JLB fashion) and he is obliged to play us the solo to Another Day every time we see him holding a guitar. And he is inseparable from his acoustic guitar.

Also, I started rolling up the sleeves of my male friends routinely and my ex-boyfriend noticed and said "yeah, I know it's a Kevin Moore thing, you can't hide it, can you" and now he won't stop teasing me  :blush so they're calling me Kevin now and whenever there's a pause in a conversation, someone says "Kevin Moore" and they all start rolling around and laughing, it's like a real-life DTF, I swear.

You hear the words "Take the Time" and the first thing you think is "Reevaluate"

Fourth Horseman

For some reason every time someone says the word "Sunday" I hear "He used to say to me, every Sunday morning".  EVERY TIME.

Rattlehead

I wonder what the guys from DT would think if they saw some of this  :rollin
