Yeah I wasn't crazy about them either but they did kick ass when you hear them in person.

lonestar

They make for real adrenaline fueled. Songs in a live setting.

RaiseTheKnife

It should be noted that james came unhinged during 6:00 vamping a few high E's whichshattered the cosmos

countoftuscany42

such an incredible show, i was second row \m/
my  only gripe was that i was filming most of the show with none of the staff caring, then all of a sudden during otboa they started getting anal about it :/
but still, it was an incredible evening, got to shake hands with petrucci afterwards, and take a photo and get a signature with Pirate and mangini!!

lonestar

I was filming petrucci's solo and they stopped me too+still got a good two minutes of it. Video is crap but the sound is great since we were right behind the mixers.

It really was a great show.   Had great view from behind sound board and they all seemed to be having a great time.  I was able to fulfill a 20 year dream and meet each of them except myung.  I was amazed at how cordial and welcoming they were even after just slaughtering for two hours

As others have said, the show was indeed epic.  Not sure if it sold it, but it was close to it.  The view and sound from the raised area right behind the mixing board were excellent (as was the company, since Yesh, my wife, lonestar were all right there).  More later.  Tired, and back in the office tryin' to take care of business.

lonestar

Don't forget to tell them my reaction to the opening of BAI. :lol

bosk1

It was something like:  :omg: :caffeine: :2metal: :victorydance: :mangini:

...in roughly that order.

Not my favorite song on the album, but I have to say, it slayed live.

yeshaberto

and yeah, it was a bonus to hang with lonestar and fiery winds

bosk1

Okay, as said above, the show was epic.  Got there and got in line for my passes.

Got in with Mrs. Bosk and got a GREAT spot right behind the soundboard.  That may not sound like it is that great, but it actually is because the soundboard is pretty close to the stage in that venue, and the space immediately behind is elevated and has a wall you can lean on.

All in all, hung out with some really cool people and enoyed some really cool music.  The show was fantastic from start to finish.  James especially was just out of his mind the way he sang and interacted with the audience.  Best I've ever seen him.

Tough call.  I like the September setlist slightly more.  But last night's performance was better.  And I got to share it with my wife.  So I'd have to give the end to last night.

I am so excited... gonna see them Thursday!

My only question...  WHY NO DRUM SOLO??? :-\

wasteland

An epic video noone's watched, youtube torn and faded, the greatest shooting of this tour...  :)

Nice touch by James wearing the Bruce Lee shirt. Lee was born in SF. Myung looks so bored in this video. Maybe he was tired who knows.  Thanks for posting the video. Good job.

Forgot to add this, but I also ran into lonestar and some of the DT guys down at the Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf area before the show.  Loney's too humble to admit it publicly, but he was doing his Official DTF Tourguide duties and showing the guys around the city.  I managed to snap a quick shot of Jordan as Loney was showing him the sea lions at Pier 39.

Best pics we got were the setup before the show and the ending applause.

wasteland

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it went seriously awesome. One of the best DT live clips I have ever seen (and I've seen many).

Awesome video uploads! Getting me amped for the DVD.

lonestar

OK, here's mine, at least what I managed to shoot before security asked me to stop, about two minutes of one of the best guitar solos ever. Video quality sucks, but the sound is pretty good(on my cheap phone, so cut me some slack).....

:tup  Nice!  And I think one of the loud "WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"'s might have been me.  :lol

lonestar

Nope, was definitely me, I remember thinking after how it would sound. There were a lot of those at that point in the solo, so damn killer.

Dittomist

I love how every time I see Dream Theater, I feel like it's their greatest concert ever. I think out of all the times I've seen them, Sunday's show had the most satisfying setlist. There were no so-so songs like These Walls or Costant Motion, and every time a new song started I was thrilled. I am happy that I somehow managed to avoid reading the setlists for the previous shows because it made the show much more exciting.
I was especially happy to hear Breaking All Illusions, 6:00, Lost Not Forgotten, and This is the Life because I had never heard them live before. And I agree that Test/War was one of the most kickass moments. The entire band sounded perfect as always--I don't think I've ever heard a better version of The Spirit Carries On.
I was a little disappointed with the Warfield crowd though--I was on the floor and I was surprised by how lifeless the majority of people were. I know some people treat it like a spiritual experience instead of just a rock concert, but when something as heavy as The Dark Eternal Night is playing, I don't know how you can just stand there motionless. And I thought for sure the entire place would sing along at some point, like at the end of Surrounded.
It was an incredible experience to see Marillion at the Fillmore and Dream Theater at the Warfield in a 4 day vacation to California!

lonestar

Couldn't agree with you more, that crowd was fucking dead, except for me of course. ;)

That's cool you made it to Marillion, my bro went to that one and said they were outstanding, I unfortunately couldn't get both days off and had to make a choice.

Freaking nice!

Glad everyone had a great time.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
