:metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal

Might be iffy whether I make it to this one. Got my kids graduation right before it, along with the nine day trip to NY. Be tough to get a Sunday off three days after getting back, but I'm willing to do what it takes.
*breaks out kneepads for boss*
If I do make it happen, meet up at Lefty O'Douls before the show, just like last time. :metal
-
how fast do floor tickets typically sell for DT shows at the Warfield? could I get away with waiting until Monday and still get a GA ticket?
-
I think I am going
*does a giddy dance*

Oh yeah you should be fine. I think I waited at least a week if not more before I bought tickets for GA.
-
got GA tickets today :metal :metal :metal

got GA tickets today :metal :metal :metal
me too :metal :metal :metal
-
All right, "talked" to the boss, and got the day off. My jaw is still a bit sore, but I''m going!!!! :metal :metal
So, for a meet up if anyone's interested, last time we met at Lefty O'douls, a bar and grill about four blocks from the Warfield, who's in?
-
I arrive into SFO about 5:30, so depending on transportation options I will be there.
-
Got my plane ticket, hotel and GA ticket, so basically all set.

Take BART from SFO to Powell St. station, about a 40 minute ride. The theater and the bar are both within four blocks of the station. Transportation issue settled. :)

That DTF tour guide monniker isn't just a joke. ;)
-
Just got my tickets. It's on bitches!!!!
-
Just got my tickets. It's on bitches!!!!
Planning on getting my tickets later today. Would like to take one of my friends and possibly his girl to the show and see if my other friend who I brought to the Sept show wants to come again.
-
You up for a meet up? Sounds like Yeshaberto is in. I haven't heard whether bosk or Fierywinds is going this time round though.
-
I haven't decided yet, but I'll join you guys at the meetup if I do go! :metal
-
Bought 4 GA tickets! Bringing 3 friends to the show courtesy of me. Today has been a great day!
-
Mine came yesterday, tickets in hand, bringing my same buddy as last time. Is it July yet?
-
I did electronic so I just print them out and scan it at the venue. Perhaps I'm missing out on having a legit ticket stub.

I thought about that, but I just needed to have the tickets.

Now that I think about I should have done that. I'm trying to see if I can re do it.

Oh man guys I am so excited for this show I can't even handle it!!! I am literally counting down the days at this point! Saw them kick off the North American tour here on 09.24.11 with my posse...it was almost a spiritual experience lmao! Well worth the five hour drive from Ashland, OR to see such an awesome show in an awesome venue. This time around it's gonna be a ten hour drive, but I have no doubt this show will be just as awesome! Curious though....those of you who were also in attendance for the last show, what are your hopes for the setlist? Any particular songs that the LA crowd got that we missed that you're hoping for? Any songs you're really hoping to see again? I want to get Breaking All Illusions, and would be stoked to see The Great Debate again :3
-
We got BIA, Wait For Sleep, and Far From Heaven and you didnt :P

I just need to see Breaking All Illusions, everything else will be gravy. Though the setlist thread is suggesting possibilities of 6:00, which is one I haven't seen yet, so that will be cool too.
And even though you're new, stop by Lefty O'douls pub before the show and meet some of the wacky DTFers. :metal
-
Hells yeah! We're gonna be camping out pretty early for our spots, but there's going to be enough of us that we should be able to split into groups and rotate line saving duty. I'll try to convince the people I group up with to check out Lefty's! Sweet action :metal
One of the guys I'm making the trip with got me thinking about this last night: Honestly, the song I want to hear more than anything else off ADTOE is LNF...is this even a reasonable thing to hope for? I guess we'll all find out come June lol :3
-
Cool, we'll chat more details as the show looms closer.

I remember talking to someone next to me at the September show saying they made the drive down from Oregon. I think I was standing right behind you and your group. One of them has a Majesty logo tattoo on his forearm and you were grooving to the songs.
That spot was really good, perfect view of the whole stage. I'm going to try to stand there again.
I with Lonestar, I need to see Breaking All Illusions! I'm suspect the set list will be similar to the 2nd European leg/Asia tour. I'm hoping additions of LNF and This is the Life as well. Complete the ADTOE experience!

Hahaha yes!!! Dude that was totally me and my crew! I apologize if you got hit by a flailing limb...what can I say? The music...it moves me lmao! All of us who made it out last time are coming out again, plus a few more. I also am determined to get the same spot again...I will wait out front of the Warfield all day Sunday if I have to lol!
And yes...LNF would basically be the best thing ever. One of the guys I went down with last time and I thought that LNF would make such an EPIC intro song! BITS (hehehe...bits :lol) was perfect, for sure, but at the same time...can't you just hear it/see it? Dark stage...that beautiful, languid piano intro, and then... :metal :metal :metal!!! I'm sure they'll keep BITS as the opener, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that LNF makes an appearance somewhere on the setlist :3

I love it, a secret DTF meetup six months before one of you joins the forum. :lol
-
I love it, a secret DTF meetup six months before one of you joins the forum. :lol
Dude! I'm telling you...Dream Theater has this weird ability to randomly connect people! A lot of the crew I went with last time met each other at Dream Theater shows years before life actually brought them together as irl friends...pretty cool stories, actually...they'll have to share at the meet up :3
-
Hey, the more the merrier!!!
-
Lost Not Forgotten is going to be played! I hope they surprise us with This is the Life too. Its been two weeks since I bought my tickets, time is somewhat flying. This show is going to kick some serious ass.
Was talking to one of my new co workers and I told her how excited I was to see DT again and she was like "When!??!" I told her the date and she immediately wrote it down. Now I get to ask her about DT related stuff. I brought it up because she mentioned she went to Opeth/Mastodon couple weeks ago in Oakland.
-
I saw the FB post about Lost Not Forgotten, should be cool, maybe replace Build me up, Break me down with it. This is the Life would be just plain awesome.
-
Still trying to decide what the game-day plans will consist of.
-
Still trying to decide what the game-day plans will consist of.
bacon.
-
It's in the works. We need to have a roll call here for a meet up, sound like yeshaberto and I are in, fiery winds is if he mans up and buys a ticket, the new girl says she's in. jcmistat hasn't said anything, and bosk is trying to fit us into his insanely busy schedule. :P
-
Wow sounds awesome! If I wasn't married with kids and had a life here, I'd be happy to join. :D
-
They can be such an inconvenience at times, makes it easier that most of us are single and live 25 miles or less from the venue.
-
It's all good. I don't know of the San Fran guys made it into the Boston thread but Kingshmegland is 10 seats away from me in the same row, so I'll have at least one DTF buddy.
-
That's right! Nick is comming to the Rush Show in Manchester in Sept. So we'll have a meet up for that.
-
Yup yup I'd still love to at least swing by and meet you fine people! Still trying to work out logistics with my crew, but yeah....45 days all!!!! Anyone else freaking out already? I have the entire month of June mapped out to the day with uber nerdy fan activity goodness that me and a few friends will be partaking in :metal
-
bosk is trying to fit us into his insanely busy schedule. :P
:lol Hey, you know what the deal is.
-
If I'm not at the meet up spot I hope see you in the venue!
-
bosk is trying to fit us into his insanely busy schedule. :P
:lol Hey, you know what the deal is.
-
Aaaaaaaaah!!!!!!! Guys!!!! 5 weeks until the show *commences spastic kermit-esque arm flailing*!!! Anyone else already getting amped up? :metal :heart
-
Aaaaaaaaah!!!!!!! Guys!!!! 5 weeks until the show *commences spastic kermit-esque arm flailing*!!! Anyone else already getting amped up? :metal :heart
Oh hell yes I am. Thinking about doing another discography marathon like I did when I bought the tickets. :metal
-
Dude...seriously? Unreal! I literally have the month of June mapped out to the day for a month long discography marathon/study with my Ashland crew! Starting with WDADU June 1st and 2nd, I&W June 3rd, 4th and 5th, and so on all the way up to ADTOE June 29th, which coincides with my arrival in the Land of Ashes and subsequent reunion with my merry band of fellow DT fans. You bet your a** we'll be listening to that album on the drive from Ashland to San Fran on the morning of the 1st
So hells yes! Marathon away! That would be a really cool feeling, knowing that more people had the same experience in their own unique way leading up to the show, and I am all about that kind of stuff :metal
-
When the last SF show was here, it was like two weeks after the release of ADTOE. I spun that thing straight through in preperation for the show. :metal
We prog geeks are all a special breed.
-
love the marathon idea, mallorier...
just booked my ticket to SFO - yoohoo!
looking forward to the meetup as well
-
Me too, get to add a few more DTFers to my list. I think 5pm would be a good time, it takes maybe ten minutes tops to walk from Lefty's to the Warfield. Unless your in GA and want front row, getting there by seven gets good seats. My buddy got there around that time and were center stage about twenty feet back and elevated above the first peeps. Really not a bad seat there though as long as your not stuck deep in the wings.
-
3 weeks and 2 days!!! I'm debating if I should check the set list when they start the tour in a week. Knowing me I probably won't be able to resist.
-
I'm pretty sure I won't be able to. :lol
Best part of being first last time, no opportunity to look.
-
I only plan on checking out the setlist of the opening band so I can get familiar with their stuff
-
My will power isn't nearly that strong.
-
I'm pretty sure I won't be able to. :lol
Best part of being first last time, no opportunity to look.
I still looked at the Europe's set list and we got similar songs.
-
Yeah, but we knew we were getting a ton of new songs for the first time ever too.
-
Aaaaaah 20 days!!!!!! It's friggin ON!!!!! :metal I am currently on FII in the June DT marathon...I imagine by the time TOT rolls around I will just be useless to society until showtime lol! I've been pondering setlist spoilers as well...I would really prefer to be surprised at the show, so I'm gonna try my hardest to resist the temptation to peak
-
Just two weeks and a day now, and nine of those I am on vacation. Should be a breeze. Can't fucking wait!!!!
-
So far I've resisted looking at the set list. Its only been one day
-
Officially less than two weeks away. :metal
-
:metal
-
Eight days motherfuckers!!!!!!!!!!
So who's in for the meet up? Lefty O'Douls, I'll be there around 5, it's about 4 blocks from the theater and the Powell St. BART station is in between both.
-
If my flights on time I will c u there
-
:hat
-
:caffeine:
Made my show playlist, nothing else gets played till Sunday.
-
Just got my ticket.
:metal :caffeine: :metal :caffeine: :metal :caffeine: :metal :caffeine: :metal :caffeine: :metal :caffeine:
-
That is perhaps the best combo of emoticons I have seen used in a very long time.
-
So the meet up is at Lefty ODouls?? I'm flying in from LA and hope to chat with some of you SF fans.
-
Yup, I should be there between 5 and 6.
-
So the meet up is at Lefty ODouls?? I'm flying in from LA and hope to chat with some of you SF fans.
what time do you land?
I'm on JB out of LGB
-
I arrive 3:00pm, flying out of LAX. Should be enough time for me to get to hotel and walk to meet-up/venue. My hotel is only a block or two away.
-
Aaaaaah so close I am freaking out! I am fighting off a stupid chest cold, but I am on the road to recovery and should be in fighting form by Sunday *crosses fingers*, but any good-health-vibes I could get from fellow Dream Theater fans would be much appreciated :lol. So it looks like I'm probably gonna be able to swing by Lefty's for a little bit to meet people, but trying to get any sort of details set in stone with the group I'm going with is proving to be very, very difficult so I can't guarantee it. If I don't make it over there I really hope you guys will come say hello to me in line or inside the venue! But should all go according to plan and I make it down to Lefty's, how will I recognize you guys? Should I just ask the hostess for the "dream theater people"? :lol
So...so...so pumped right now :metal :metal :metal
-
Just look for the T-Shirts. We'll be the folks wearing Hewis Lewis & the News, MC-Hammer, you know the type.
umm, just kidding. I'm sure you'll spot the black t-shirts a mile away. I'll be asking for the DTF table.
Sending postive vibes that you will recover . . . but I've been to DT shows sick as a dog. Once the adrenaline kicks in you will drop your HMO and prescribe DT for everything. Seriously, DT is the best medicine.
-
Lefty's is a pretty open place, bar on one side and a buffet like line on the other, with dining tables after it, open seating. We'll try to sit up front of the dining section. I posted my pic in the last few pages of the picture thread, so just look for my ugly mug.
-

That worked well last time around.
I'm actually stressing pretty hard right now. I've been expecting a deadline on a HUGE project in one of my cases to get moved. But so far, the judge has not given an order one way or the other. If we don't get it by close of business today, I may very well have to cancel. Unfortunately, you can't simply make a federal judge hurry up and give you something.
-
Stupid judges.
-
hey, is anybody at meet up going to have their car with them (or at least nearby)?
-
Not here, I'm taking BART in.
-
no worries...
I think I decided to rent a car. that way I can store my stuff and then crash out for a few hours before my flight in AM.
next step is to find cheap parking.
depending on how long all this takes determines what time I will be at the meetup.
-
Have a good time, guys!

Parking is a problem. You won't find anything "cheap" in that part of town. I paid $25 last time around. And while I probably could have gotten something a BIT cheaper, it was a secured, watched lot, which is a good thing in that part of town. Make sure to check the closing time on any lot you park in. Many garages, including the main one people use for the Warfield, generally close earlier than when you will probably be leaving (for regular concert goers, it should be fine, but an inside source told me you may be staying a little extra late).
-
Yup, parking in general is fucked, definatly spend the $ on a secured lot.
-
I actually found an ace parking lot about a mile away that is 6.99 from 5p to 1:30a. I decided, though, to park at Daly City BART station and catch the train the rest of the way. It looks like I would ride it to the montgomery station for Odouls. From what I read, you can park at BART over the weekend at no cost.
-
Have a good time, guys!
thanks!
are you too far away to come by for the meet up?
-
I get off at Powell St. station, but both are pretty close.
-
Have a good time, guys!
thanks!
are you too far away to come by for the meet up?
Nah, I just really don't think I can spend the money at this time. Sorry man, I was looking forward to meeting you! (and seeing the rest of you again!)
-
One more day!!!!
Wouldnt it be ironic if DT didn't play Breaking All Illusions tomorrow? Haha, just teasing.
-
Not in the least bit funny dude.
-

I will kill somebody if they don't play it in Boston.
Have a blast tomorrow all of you!!
-
Never peeked at the set list can't wait to be surprised. They will play Breaking All Illusions, I'm not worrying.
-
:metal
-
I wonder if James will mention Canada Day. I kind of expect of him to.
-
I wish I was headed out that way to meet up with you crazies and enjoy some live DT goodness, but I have my own shows to look forward to.
RAWK ON, brothas and sistas! :metal
-
Thanks Deb :metal :metal :metal
-
No prob, man. :metal
-
24 hours from now my ears will be bleeding :metal

:hat
-
Today's the day :caffeine:
For the guys travelling in, really overcast this morning, it will probably be cold as fuck in the city after the show, be prepared. As to the meetup, I will be wearing a blue Ithica College sweatshirt or a black tshirt with "disco still sucks" on it. I will be there between five and six pending on when my buddy gets out of work. See you guys tonight. :metal :metal :metal
-
so fucking stoked right now \m/
a bunch of friends and i are getting there around 5ish to try and get rail \m/
anyone know of a good parking lot that stays open late? i know the one behind the theater closes like 20 minutes after the show, but we want to meet dt \m/
rock on and enjoy everyone!
-
SO. FUCKING. CLOSE. :metal :metal :metal
-
I'm so excited for you guys!
SPOILER ALERT!
they will play one or more songs by Dream Theater
/spoiler
-
:rollin
You folks rock it and have a GREAT time!!!!!! :metal
-
Kinda cool, my bro is at Mayhem(Slipknot, Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax) tonight, after seeing Marillion on Friday, getting updated on the shows regularly, soon I will be able to repay the favor.
-
They just announced a ground stop for SFO. At least 1.5 hr delay. If i dont see u guys at meetup this is why
-
Fuck, that sucks, stupid airports, don't they know we got important shit going on.
Weird, just checked, they say it's because of weather, but it's not that bad, must be foggy as shit over there, I got the Oakland hills between me and the city, usually blocks most of that crap.
-
Been waiting in lax since noon. Tried to catch earlier flight but they kept delaying. Will arrive 5:30 hotel by 6ish. Hotel is on 4th next to venue, so maybe time for 1 drink with dtfers.
-
Good luck RTK
(lol i was just at LAX a few hours ago..
HAVE FUN EVERYBODY
-
Thanks jay, leaving home now :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal

-

Nah I was just picking someone up from LAX... I'll be at the Anaheim show on Tues night. One of these tours I will make the trek up to San Fran to see a show with everyone up there... but not this day
Thanks jay, leaving home now :metal
Flash JLB some chef manboobs for me!

:tup
-
and now... I get to go spend the evening walking around at work singing Lie silently while counting the hours till I too get to see DT... for the 3rd time since sept... fuck yea
-
Curses! It looks like Lefty's may not be a possibility for me...for the time being I'm stuck in line! If I can't make it over there come say hi in line or inside the venue...SOOOOO stoked :metal :metal :metal :heart
-
Still waiting for my bud to finish work, looking at 5:30 to 6:00.
-
I have an extra ticket one of my buddies had to bow out, if you know anyone that would like to come please e-mail me at wleetam@gmail.com. It will be tough to find someone take it so close to show time. 25 bucks is all I'd ask for. \
Found someone to take the ticket, phew!
-
BART is dropping me off at Powell at 5:49, should be at Leftys shortly after that.
-
Won't be able to meet up at Lefty's. Hopefully see you at the show!
-
BART is dropping me off at Powell at 5:49, should be at Leftys shortly after that.
That's right about when I'm getting there.
-
Any word on if Bosk is going to make it?
-
He won't make it to Lefty's, he will be in the GA section though.
-
Any specific section where ya'll be standing? I'll be trying to stand near Mallorier, that was such a good spot last time. Right side right before the pit and next to the stairway. I'm arriving a little later hopefully there will be room!
-
I'm in lower loge 2, front row, seat 110. Just right of center (facing the stage).
-
I'm shooting for center stage, back section of GA.
-
Just got a table at Leftys, see ya there!
-
Now there is two, where are you guys?
-
leaving soon for my 17th DT show. Front row in the Balcony!!
-
I am inside with my crew on the Petrucci side of the first raised section of the lowet level, right at the rail! Come say hi! Let's get ready to bliss out!!!! :metal :heart
-
Flight cancelled. Next one overbooked. 13th on standby! 7.5 hrs at airport. Somehow I arrived at show jus now. Lonestar where are you?
-
Killer show, same setlist.
SPOILER ALERT
HIGHLIGHTS: best jp solo spot since awake tour, all soul. cool new extended drum tag for fortune. Also, narration is back in mid section. warfield is small venue but damn it sounds amazing.
-
Holy crap what a show. BAI was amazing!!!!!! Full report when I get home. :metal
Spoiler- agree with you on jp solo, beautiful work.
-
:metal
-
What an amazing show. Brought a friend who hasn't kept up since Scenes and now he wants to get back! My only possible gripe was LaBrie's mic could have used a boost. BAI was played along with LNF and TitL. I've heard all but FFH from ADTOE. Much love for Surrounded and The Spirit Carries On.
-
Spirit Carries On was awesome, and War/Test is always an ass kicker live. :metal
-
Never seen War n Test live... honestly the only part of the set I would change (on paper at least) but I have a feeling my mind will be changed after tues
-
Never seen War n Test live... honestly the only part of the set I would change (on paper at least) but I have a feeling my mind will be changed after tues
Yeah I wasn't crazy about them either but they did kick ass when you hear them in person.
-
They make for real adrenaline fueled. Songs in a live setting.
-
It should be noted that james came unhinged during 6:00 vamping a few high E's whichshattered the cosmos
-
such an incredible show, i was second row \m/
my only gripe was that i was filming most of the show with none of the staff caring, then all of a sudden during otboa they started getting anal about it :/
but still, it was an incredible evening, got to shake hands with petrucci afterwards, and take a photo and get a signature with Pirate and mangini!!
-
I was filming petrucci's solo and they stopped me too+still got a good two minutes of it. Video is crap but the sound is great since we were right behind the mixers.
-
It really was a great show. Had great view from behind sound board and they all seemed to be having a great time. I was able to fulfill a 20 year dream and meet each of them except myung. I was amazed at how cordial and welcoming they were even after just slaughtering for two hours
-
Y U NO WANT TO MEET JMX?!?!!?
-
I did want to, but he ninja-disappeared
-
As others have said, the show was indeed epic. Not sure if it sold it, but it was close to it. The view and sound from the raised area right behind the mixing board were excellent (as was the company, since Yesh, my wife, lonestar were all right there). More later. Tired, and back in the office tryin' to take care of business.
-
Don't forget to tell them my reaction to the opening of BAI. :lol
-
It was something like: :omg: :caffeine: :2metal: :victorydance: :mangini:
...in roughly that order.
Not my favorite song on the album, but I have to say, it slayed live.

and yeah, it was a bonus to hang with lonestar and fiery winds

Okay, as said above, the show was epic. Got there and got in line for my passes.

Got in with Mrs. Bosk and got a GREAT spot right behind the soundboard. That may not sound like it is that great, but it actually is because the soundboard is pretty close to the stage in that venue, and the space immediately behind is elevated and has a wall you can lean on.

All in all, hung out with some really cool people and enoyed some really cool music. The show was fantastic from start to finish. James especially was just out of his mind the way he sang and interacted with the audience. Best I've ever seen him.

Tough call. I like the September setlist slightly more. But last night's performance was better. And I got to share it with my wife. So I'd have to give the end to last night.
-
Last nights show, easily.

I am so excited... gonna see them Thursday!
My only question... WHY NO DRUM SOLO??? :-\

Nice touch by James wearing the Bruce Lee shirt. Lee was born in SF. Myung looks so bored in this video. Maybe he was tired who knows. Thanks for posting the video. Good job.

Forgot to add this, but I also ran into lonestar and some of the DT guys down at the Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf area before the show. Loney's too humble to admit it publicly, but he was doing his Official DTF Tourguide duties and showing the guys around the city. I managed to snap a quick shot of Jordan as Loney was showing him the sea lions at Pier 39.

Best pics we got were the setup before the show and the ending applause.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it went seriously awesome. One of the best DT live clips I have ever seen (and I've seen many).

Awesome video uploads! Getting me amped for the DVD.

OK, here's mine, at least what I managed to shoot before security asked me to stop, about two minutes of one of the best guitar solos ever. Video quality sucks, but the sound is pretty good(on my cheap phone, so cut me some slack).....

:tup Nice! And I think one of the loud "WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"'s might have been me. :lol

Nope, was definitely me, I remember thinking after how it would sound. There were a lot of those at that point in the solo, so damn killer.

I love how every time I see Dream Theater, I feel like it's their greatest concert ever. I think out of all the times I've seen them, Sunday's show had the most satisfying setlist. There were no so-so songs like These Walls or Costant Motion, and every time a new song started I was thrilled. I am happy that I somehow managed to avoid reading the setlists for the previous shows because it made the show much more exciting.
I was especially happy to hear Breaking All Illusions, 6:00, Lost Not Forgotten, and This is the Life because I had never heard them live before. And I agree that Test/War was one of the most kickass moments. The entire band sounded perfect as always--I don't think I've ever heard a better version of The Spirit Carries On.
I was a little disappointed with the Warfield crowd though--I was on the floor and I was surprised by how lifeless the majority of people were. I know some people treat it like a spiritual experience instead of just a rock concert, but when something as heavy as The Dark Eternal Night is playing, I don't know how you can just stand there motionless. And I thought for sure the entire place would sing along at some point, like at the end of Surrounded.
It was an incredible experience to see Marillion at the Fillmore and Dream Theater at the Warfield in a 4 day vacation to California!
-
Couldn't agree with you more, that crowd was fucking dead, except for me of course. ;)
That's cool you made it to Marillion, my bro went to that one and said they were outstanding, I unfortunately couldn't get both days off and had to make a choice.
