It's a cool song, I guess, but I never really got why people seem to think that it's the best DT song ever. It's just inside the Top 20 for me. The first two parts, along with the long intro drag it down a bit, I find.

This is like the ONE song where I actually enjoy the long intro.

Naw, man, I'm totally with you there. The live version on Score rules. But still, the live version somehow made me appreciate the studio version that much more. So yes, if I had to choose, I'd choose the live version, but mostly with video. I mean, the look of sheer joy on JR's face is priceless.

8. The Great Debate

I see this song get A LOT of hate around here. I think it's because people say it starts out so nice (except the sample haters

), but it just drags and drags. I disagree, a lot. I know Elite had this song in his top 10 as well, so that's awesome. I think the song starts out amazing, and I love MP's drum patterns as they change within the first few minutes. Then, the song builds up and there's your awesome JP riff. I always liked how they split the vocals between left and right channel. Clever, I thought. That chorus is killer, and everything before it and after it is as well. My favorite part of the song is the whole, "ARE YOU JUSTIFIED?!" section. It fucking rules. I love the soloing at the end, and I really, really love how the song ends where it began (no nugget intended). This is probably my favorite DT song drum-wise. MP put much thought into this, and it fucking delivered.

The Great Debate is one of those songs that I don't particularly care for (by DT standards, anyway) even though I don't have any specific objection with it. I don't know why I don't like it more than I do.

Horrible choice. It has its moments, but they're surrounded by huge chunks of very uninteresting parts. I'd take almost any song on WDADU over The Great Debate.

I love seeing lists that greatly differ from my own. It really shows how great of musicians DT are. They have something for everyone and can appeal to different people on completely different levels.

7. In the Name of God

A song I usually see in Top 10's, well, except Elite's

. I thoroughly enjoy the heavy intro, and I think the first few verses are very memorable, and I love JP's guitar throughout these few minutes. The pre-chorus section is so holy, and epic. I love it. The actual chorus is amazing too. Then, it gets faster, and I fucking love this part. "Straight is the path.." The soft section almost half way through is a great buildup for the remainder of the song. I especially love the part right after the electronic drum section. God, Hearing one James yelling, and the other singing, it's all too fucking great. It has one of the funnest, and most challenging (on drums for sure) instrumental sections I have ever heard. I think this one does not suffer from being too "wanky". Yeah, alot of shit happens, but it's all spectacular. I love JP's solo where it sounds like everything is melting and John Myung's bass is loud and CLEAR. The ending, as usual, is my favorite part of the song. It's beyond epic. The bells, the fucking everything. The piano ending..this song has it all, and is the best from Train of Thought.
